Characteristics Of My Family Essay
Family is a truly special thing. Essentially, what makes a family so unique is that unification of a
group of individuals with so many variant characteristics. In fact, each and every one of our unique
relatives, in their own individual way, contributes to that extraordinary bond that families share. Our
blood may define family, but it's those unique relationships: like the one with the controlling
grandmother, that crazy aunt, or even that inappropriately laid back uncle, that genuinely gives
family a special sense of belonging. Every single family has a head, an alpha male or female. This
individual tends to believe the universe revolves around them, and that they resemble absolute
royalty when compared to the rest of the family. In my case, this is my grandma Rosaura. The
fact is, that she is the oldest, most experienced person in our family. Correspondingly, she is
praised by the entire family as well as looked up to for guidance because of her " extensive
knowledge". In fact, she was a very successful lawyer who was able to raise four children by
herself; two characteristics of my grandmother's life which she would never let us forget. Thus,
emphasizing herself as the epitome of what you would call "a woman who don't need no man".
Furthermore, because of her position in the family, she's also developed some very interesting traits
over time. To begin with, she's extremely controlling and authoritarian. My mother is 46 and my
grandma still finds ways to boss her

Descriptive Essay On An Island
The first thing that hit me was the sound. The sounds of birds, the sound of the sea crawling onto
the sand. I felt million grains of sand underneath my feet and the cool breeze against my face.
Moreover, the tantalizing scent of the washed–up waves, coconut, and pineapple are all mixed into
one. As I opened my eyes, I was amazed by how easily fantasy and reality intertwined at that
moment. It was like continuing a dream after waking up. So I dragged myself up and turn my
head to the east. While the sky in the opposite direction was still dark, the dawn on the east side
already broke. A mixture of yellow and orange on the horizon beneath a dark neon blue ocean of
night had begun to peek out. As the sun continuously rose, all of the purple and deep blue faded
away, and the sun took its mighty position at the top of the sky, shining so very blindingly beautiful.
After I watched the sunrise, my mood lifted. Notwithstanding, I still feel threatened for I got
trapped on an island. I stood there for a moment and tried to figure out how I got to this island. A
series of quick flashback of a shipwreck, and a big storm. Consequently, I have a severe headache, so
I decided to sit down in the sand. While sitting down, I observe the island and find that I was
surrounded by water and some other islands. The water around the island was as clear as crystal,
to the point I can see the depths of the sea. Again, I dragged myself up and turn to the back; it
seemed like a tropical paradise. There were multitudes of greenery, lush foliage that looked like they
were painted on.
I walk deeper into the island. Nowhere, the sound of the birds started to raise up. It brought
freedom and happiness to the mind. Beautiful flowers in reds, yellows, purples, and pinks lounged
happily along the banks of small streams. Following the streams, it allowed me to hear the playful
sound of the water lapping on the rocks, and the sound of leaves rustling when the wind blew
gently, bringing with it a feeling of peace and tranquility. Continuing through the trees, my stomach
started growling like a monster who is ready to eat its prey. Accordingly, the smell of fruits
suddenly arises on my left side so I made my way toward the fruity smell,

Essay about the human brain
In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain isn't
the largest organ of the human body it is the most complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how
complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has
main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia
holds the lentiform and the caudate.
The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain
on the things going on with the human body. The brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the
right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only

The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The area that passes
and processes information concerning touch, pain, temperature, and pressure on skin is the
thalamus. The limbic system controls your behavior and emotions. It is involved in emotions such
as fear, rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are
controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is controlled. The parietal lobe discriminates
sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves
going up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray
area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex receives senses from the nose that it then sorts
out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual
cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for
analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning new information, forming thoughts, and
making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The
cerebellum is vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain.
If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion
has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing how god has created the brain to have so many

Descriptive Essay On Adventure
Who am I? Well, I like to consider myself an explorer and a traveler. I always like to be doing
something interesting. Going on adventures is a pretty important and normal part of my life. I
choose to go on them whenever I have the time, energy, and money. This includes hiking,
kayaking, camping, exploring abandoned places, and trekking down empty railroads. One of my
fondest memories of an adventure I had was at Go Ape in Indianapolis, Indiana. I was turning
twelve years old and I did not know what I wanted to do for my birthday. I wanted to do
something outdoors and in nature but I didn't know of anything I hadn't already done. I searched
and searched to find a place that I had never been to before. I then came across a place called, "Go
Ape", and found that there was one not too far away from my house in Indiana. I learned on their
website that they were a zipline and treetop climbing park. I had never gone ziplining or treetop
climbing at that point in my life or really heard of it before so I was excited to find something new.
Even though I was set on going to Go Ape for my birthday, I still had to convince my parents to take
me and I needed to invite someone who was over the age of eighteen to join me. I told my mom and
dad that I really wanted to go for my birthday and they both agreed to take me. It was 140 miles
away and about fifty dollars per person. My parents are both disabled and have cerebral palsy so
they were not able to do the course with me. I then

Descriptive Essay About Myself
I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. In order for me to dIscuss
who I am in an accurate manner then I must provide some basic background information on
myself and talk about the Environment I grew up in. This way people can get a better
understanding of why I am the way I am. My Background is so essential In making me myself
because If I had been born under any different circumstances or grew up any differently I would be
a different person than I am today. I was born inAberdeen Scotland but raised in Fort Bend County
Texas. Aberdeen and Fort Bend both have great opportunities but differ in many ways. One way in

Her family communicates to one another using spanish or sometimes english. I have always
grown up in a family that speaks only english so I find it interesting to go over to other people's
houses and hear them communicating in another language. On top of all of this meeting different
people has also opened my mind to new ideas. For example, in school when we work in group
projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work
together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them.
Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic
circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme
gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a
family with such good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities.
One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a
blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other
competitors and break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also
helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. Another Opportunity I am grateful for is
the skill of playing the piano. At first I was not all that enthusiastic about playing it but my parents

Descriptive Essay About My Favorite Place
As a child, people will always remember certain destinations that stick with them that made a
good impression. I have a place that not only made a good impression, it changed me. It made me
think off all the things in life people take for granted; places, people, activates. This place brought
all though special things in life to one place where I can enjoy them all at the same time. The
Oregon coast. Traveling there, as a kid was always special. Waking up early in the morning and
driving the long trip there, going through forests, valleys, and cities. The Oregon coast is such a
broad place to describe, but in reality, all the towns have the same feel but different atmosphere.

Its cold, windy, and sunny all at the same time. The beach stretches for miles seeming endless,
until it reaches a tall cliff with waves crashing against it. The sun shines down on the moisture in
the air creating a "sparkling" affect to add to the view. In some spots on the coast giant rock
formations stick out of the water, creating a question on how they formed there. Sea creatures dot
the sand everywhere. Walking the beach with sand between your toes is and not a worry in your mind
is one of the best feelings. If you time it right early in the mornings and late in the night low tide
takes place and you can find sand dollars and unique shells. Beautiful houses and hotels line the
beach all with the same withered look they all strive to have, and balconies on every place to
capture the view. This destination is such an important place to Oregonians because its such a
magical place. It transports you into a different dimension where there are no other places like it.
You cannot be one the beach without a smile on your face, it's near impossible to be in a gloomy
mood when there. Mainly magical because you can escape there with family and friends with many
opportunities to try to experience new or traditional things. Like having a fire on a beach roasting
s'mores with family and friends, or trying weird sea creature at a restaurant. The Oregon Coast will
always hold a spot near to my heart. I can't wait for

Descriptive Essay On A Trip
The art studies–at–large trip has been a once in a lifetime trip. From a twenty–four hour plane trip
with a stop in Chicago and time zone change, it has been an exhausting yet enjoyable time running
around with my classmates in the airport. Being in a different country and experiencing a new
culture first hand was astonishing and gave me a new outlook of the beauties in the world. From
Montone, Florence, Venice, andRome I had the ultimate trip in Italy. The food, language, and
culture were different from what I was used to but it was worth the experience. I was not fond of
drinking wine with every dinner though the wine was delicious. I had the best pastas, tiramisus,
and coffees while I was in Italy. The art was beautiful; it was breathtaking to see how many free
artworks was there for the public. After being in Italy for about a month I can see why people are
attracted and want to live in Italy. Montone is a beautiful, peaceful, and friendly town. I enjoyed
the walk to town, the covenant, Aries CafГ©, the tavern restaurant, and the town's people. I had
the best cappuccino and coffee at Aries and I loved every dish I ate at the tavern restaurant. The
view from the covenant was beautiful and works perfectly for a painting. Getting around town was
easy with everyone being so nice and helpful. The piazza was a great place to hang out because of
friendly the environment was and it was the main spot in town where everyone stayed. Getting a

Descriptive Essay About My Country
Nashville. When you hear the word Nashville, what pops up in your brain? You probably thing of
big city lights and country music. That's definitely not the Nashville I'm talking about. My
Nashville is a small town that has exactly four red lights and about 4,700 people in our city limits.
Everyone knows each other and it doesn't matter what you're doing or who you're with, give a day
and everybody knows what happened. It's the best and worst town to live, all in one. Nashville,
Georgia. I've had a lot of good and bad memories in my hometown. Everything that happens isn't too
serious or too exciting. Even though everybody knowing your business isn't exactly what most
people want, it has it up–sides. People in my community step up to the plate when it is the time to
do so. One example would be a hard–working old man that everyone loves, named Gary. Gary works
at one of the only decent gas stations in Nashville, trying to keep everyone he meets happy and to
make their day a little better. Recently Gary found out he has stomach cancer. Being that he works
at gas station, he really doesn't have the funds for medical bills. With Nashville being the tight
knit community it is, people have raised almost 5,000 dollars in less than 30 days. Knowing that
whatever happens in my life I have a whole town that has my back, is one reason Nashville is so
important to me. Imagine only having fun stuff to do on Friday nights. That's how it is in Nashville.
If it's not a Friday, you're

Descriptive Essay About My Neighbour
My Neighborhood We always run around chasing each other playing pirates on her swingset like
that is the ship and their is a giant squid on the grass trying to eat us. We have lunch together
during the summer and then run around chasing each other some more. Olivia pitsch is my
neighbor and we love playing with each other all day everyday. Olivia has short dark brown hair
and loves being fancy and dressing up. She also likes playing with me all the time. Olivia and me
are really best friends we play A LOT of games when were together. Are favorite is explorers.
Splish! Splash! goes the water as we stomped by. We lived in a tree and made mud pies and
caught fish, frogs, and even crayfish to keep as pets! When explorers ended and we got to wet to
continue it was to tiring also so we let go of all of our pets right where we got them from and
started playing something else. Once in awhile I can get my friend katelyn to come over and
play with us. We would play tag and I would always be it. Eventually, the sun set and we would
always have to say goodnight to katelyn when she had to get home and eat supper. But olivia and
my day was not over yet we start making plans for what we're gonna do later that night. We said "
That's good now let's go eat and get energy for tonight meet here at 8:30 no later." We left our spot
at the playset and went back to our homes and ate, ready for tonight. When 8:30 struck I would go
outside to olivia's playset and wait for her to show up.

Descriptive Essay About The Park
We continued to walk on the walkway while looking out the little island and the large sphere that
was placed in the middle of it. This magical ball reflected the scenery of the earth. I could see the
trees, the white storks, and the darkened sky in its reflection. And there we were within it, a number
ten looking captivatingly at the parallel world on its surface. After a long gaze at the spellbinding
sphere, we ventured up the island to find a place to sit down and rest for a while. There was an
isolated dark metallic bench sitting at the very far end of the park. We both sat down and said
nothing. I stared at the grand view of the park. Everything was intact and flawlessly organized.
The sight made me appreciate nature more, and I laughed inside my head about many couples
who want to spend their day in a luxurious restaurant eating expensive foods or shopping around in
crowded spaces. For a "proper" date, many people would expect to see roses, rings, sex, kisses,
and a lot of touching. For us, it was the serene silence that brought us closer. The more I think about
this event, the more I relate to the idea that we attempted to be "normal" instead of being "cheesy."
Right in front of the bench, someone painted an anonymous quote that ostensibly described our
silence. The quote said, "The quieter you become, the more you can hear." I was astonished of such
coincidence, but my boyfriend did not even notice it and its meaning. I felt like this park was
enchanted by its

The New York City Lights
The first time I stepped into New York, I was in total shock and awe. Buildings stretching across
the horizon. Every taxi in New York blaring their horns at each other. Everywhere you looked, you
saw people dressed up in Disney character outfits, asking you for pictures, but also making you pay.
Swings from every Broadway show, asking you to buy tickets (even though they are sold out for six
months). At night, this gorgeous and miraculous part of New York Citylights up in every color
known to man. All the lights reflecting off the windows of buildings makes the "Square" sparkle
even more.
Taxis coming and going. The roar of the subway beneath your feet. Everyone talking but still being
able to hear your own conversation. Lights flashing brightly, babies crying, the homeless constantly
asking for money. The smell of 1,000 vendors, many selling gyros. Broadway fans going insane
when their favorite cast member walks out of the stage door. People of every race, color, and religion.
Being in Times Square gives me goosebumps. It gives me a feeling I never felt before and I only
feel in Times Square. It's like being four years old and having a birthday party. It's truly magical.
There is no way to accurately describe the jitters you get from the minute you step off the subway
to the second you get back on. It is so surreal. Every store from the "Disney Store to a magnificent
four–story Forever 21 store is in the heart of Times Square. You can buy chocolate from

Narrative Essay On Table Dinner
On a Friday night almost nine clocks. I and my family were getting the table dinner ready for our
guest for tonight. Everyone seems to be happy that we have company coming in. the bell door rang,
I rush to the door to open it. Thomas Jefferson – "The Founding Father" arrived. I was honored to
have him in my house. I expected all of them to come together at the same time, so we don't have
to wait for others in order to eat. I took him to his seat and I told him to make yourself at home.
The doorbell rang again, I opened the door. There was C.S. Lewis, his Holiness the Dalai Lama,
Gretchen Rubin and Jennifer Michael Hecht standing in line. I was like thank god they came at the
same time. I took them to their seats. Before we began eating I told them how happy am I see
them and to eat with them. Everyone started eating, While I was eating I was thinking about how
happy am I. I asked myself why am I happy right now. Then, I asked everyone at the table, what
makes people happy? Is it freedom, money, or pleasure and desire. Jefferson pulls his head up from
the dinner plate and said: "that's a good question". According to Jefferson freedom, what makes
people happy. The others kept eating than C.S Lewis stopped eating. He looked at me, then at
Jefferson. Lewis kind of agreed with that, but not to the point where your action hurt others (228). It
was interesting to think that people might be happy even though they know that they are hurting
someone. Lewis explained that the

Essay about Self-Motivation is Empowering
Motivation is a very strong tool we can use to get further in life and to achieve our dreams and
goals. Setting goals for ourselves is something that I consider to be very important, I believe in
always pushing myself further and further in life, not only physically but mentally as well. We all
have different things or tools we can use to motivate us towards our end goals. In order for us to
stay motivated we have to have a goal and be driven towards achieving that goal.
For me, self–motivation is empowering. Finding something that I enjoy and love to do and setting
the final goal of achieving it. My main goal that I have set right now is to work towards finishing
my degree. My motivation behind this is to be able to get a better job and...show more content...
I am learning to take each assignment and task one at a time. Simply complete what the task at
hand is and then move on to the next. I feel by doing so, I will be able to complete my degree
along with knowing that I have faith in myself to push myself and motivate myself along the way.
By going back to school and getting my degree I am opening up potentially lots of doors for
myself in the future. I am setting a good example for my boys and that no matter what age you
are, it is never too late to go back to school and further your education. Education is the key to
opening up positions in the workplace that someone without an education would not be able to
pursue. The benefits will far out way the time and work that it will take for me to complete my
degree. This will be something that I can be proud of and prove to myself and others that no
matter how hard the goal may seem or how long it may take you to reach the end results, it is
always worth it to follow your dreams. I am extremely motivated to accomplish this goal for myself.
Motivation is the key to succeeding our goals and dreams. You can do anything that you set your
mind to as long as you continue to motivate yourself and others around you. Keeping a positive
attitude and having an end goal in mind to work towards, you will be able to find the motivation

In fact, nature appears in its best form. It provides us with all kinds of pleasure.
Other things that I also love about spring are those smells that are widespread in nature. The air is
fresh and full of pleasant aromas of different flowers. When I am walking in the fields or any other
place during spring time, my noses catch a mixture of smells that really increases my strong love for
nature.
I will now say I am absolutely calm when I am listening, feeling, smelling, and looking at the spring

Narrative vs. Descriptive Writing
A narrative essay uses a point of view to tell a story. It is an engaging way for an author to tell his
reader about an experience they have had or a personal story. Descriptive writing is a description of
something. It could be a person, place, thing, emotion or experience. The author is allowed more
artistic freedom when writing in descriptive form. While both descriptive and narrative essays are
similar in many ways, the descriptive essays use of language fully immerses the reader into the story
and allows the reader to feel the intended emotion. Descriptive writing is painting a vivid image.

It is very important for a narrative essay to follow a sequence of events. In the narrative essay This
Old House, the author followed a clear chronological order. Sedaris told a story that included all
of the typical components such as an introduction, and worked its way through all of the events,
introducing you to the characters and setting the stage along the way. Our book explains "As you
learned earlier, plot is the order, or sequence, of events that unfold in your story. It is crucial that
you organize these events so that, by the end of the story, they make sense to the reader and build
up to a crucial moment in the narrative. (Connell & Sole, 2013). Sedaris did an excellent job of
guiding the reader through the story. In contrast, descriptive writing does not necessarily follow a
timeline or story pattern. Descriptive style must use another form of organization. A descriptive
essay may for example separate paragraphs by the particular details being described. The author
may devote an entire paragraph to a sense, emotion or object. Amy Tan devoted one paragraph to
describe her angst and dismay "When I found out that my parents had invited the minister's family
over for Christmas Eve dinner, I cried. What would Robert think of our shabby Chinese Christmas?
What would he think of our noisy Chinese relatives who lacked proper American manners? What

Description of My Room Essay
The place where I feel the most comfortable, and show my personality, is my bedroom. This is the
place where I can really be myself and do what I want; it's the place I come home to, and wake up

that I can go to clear my mind.

Another reason that my room makes me feel comfortable is that I love to dance, but I am

don't have in other places, it helps me to have trust in myself, I can do the most ridiculous thing
but my room won't say anything, it will never judge me. My room is the only place where I will
try new things and if I feel confident I will try them outside of it. I will give it my best and that is
how my room helps me, by doing something there first I believe more in myself.
It is the place where I can concentrate and think about everything that is going on around me, not
only around my city or state, but all over the world. I get the chance to relax and think in what I
want to do with my life, the kind of future I want to achieve. My room is the place where I can go

everything I have heard, and my room makes me feel comfortable like there is nothing that can stop

The Interesting Bus Ride Home
When most people think about an eventful or memorable place, they almost certainly would not
picture a bus. As we all know, buses are not exactly attractive. The design scheme is the same in
almost every bus: rows and rows of brown seats, a thin black aisle down the middle of the bus,
hundreds of hazy windows, and the big, lemon–yellow exterior. Not many people, I am sure, would
consider buses to be an important part of their lives. However, if a person were to think about it,
they would realize that they probably have had at least one memorable experience in their life that
took place on a bus.

"Fine," he groaned, "but next time I'm not moving."
"Whatever, Nathan, just hurry up," I spat.
As I sat down in my regained seat, my friends and I all looked at each other and, at the exact same
time, said, "He is so annoying!"
We all laughed, and began trading stories of various "Nathan" experiences, which made us all glad
that there was only one Nathaniel Larson at our school. After hearing about some of the things he
had done, I felt rather virtuous for standing up to him, almost like an oppressed servant that had
just stood up to the miserable master of the house and won. Everyone commented on how brave I
was for making him leave, but I just shrugged and said, "If you get mad enough, you would be
surprised what you're suddenly capable of."
Outside the bus, the rain dripped steadily from the clouds, almost as though it wasn't in too much of
a hurry to hit the ground. As the bus ride wore on, my friends and I got bored,

  • 1. Characteristics Of My Family Essay Family is a truly special thing. Essentially, what makes a family so unique is that unification of a group of individuals with so many variant characteristics. In fact, each and every one of our unique relatives, in their own individual way, contributes to that extraordinary bond that families share. Our blood may define family, but it's those unique relationships: like the one with the controlling grandmother, that crazy aunt, or even that inappropriately laid back uncle, that genuinely gives family a special sense of belonging. Every single family has a head, an alpha male or female. This individual tends to believe the universe revolves around them, and that they resemble absolute royalty when compared to the rest of the family. In my case, this is my grandma Rosaura. The fact is, that she is the oldest, most experienced person in our family. Correspondingly, she is praised by the entire family as well as looked up to for guidance because of her " extensive knowledge". In fact, she was a very successful lawyer who was able to raise four children by herself; two characteristics of my grandmother's life which she would never let us forget. Thus, emphasizing herself as the epitome of what you would call "a woman who don't need no man". Furthermore, because of her position in the family, she's also developed some very interesting traits over time. To begin with, she's extremely controlling and authoritarian. My mother is 46 and my grandma still finds ways to boss her Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay On An Island The first thing that hit me was the sound. The sounds of birds, the sound of the sea crawling onto the sand. I felt million grains of sand underneath my feet and the cool breeze against my face. Moreover, the tantalizing scent of the washed–up waves, coconut, and pineapple are all mixed into one. As I opened my eyes, I was amazed by how easily fantasy and reality intertwined at that moment. It was like continuing a dream after waking up. So I dragged myself up and turn my head to the east. While the sky in the opposite direction was still dark, the dawn on the east side already broke. A mixture of yellow and orange on the horizon beneath a dark neon blue ocean of night had begun to peek out. As the sun continuously rose, all of the purple and deep blue faded away, and the sun took its mighty position at the top of the sky, shining so very blindingly beautiful. After I watched the sunrise, my mood lifted. Notwithstanding, I still feel threatened for I got trapped on an island. I stood there for a moment and tried to figure out how I got to this island. A series of quick flashback of a shipwreck, and a big storm. Consequently, I have a severe headache, so I decided to sit down in the sand. While sitting down, I observe the island and find that I was surrounded by water and some other islands. The water around the island was as clear as crystal, to the point I can see the depths of the sea. Again, I dragged myself up and turn to the back; it seemed like a tropical paradise. There were multitudes of greenery, lush foliage that looked like they were painted on. I walk deeper into the island. Nowhere, the sound of the birds started to raise up. It brought freedom and happiness to the mind. Beautiful flowers in reds, yellows, purples, and pinks lounged happily along the banks of small streams. Following the streams, it allowed me to hear the playful sound of the water lapping on the rocks, and the sound of leaves rustling when the wind blew gently, bringing with it a feeling of peace and tranquility. Continuing through the trees, my stomach started growling like a monster who is ready to eat its prey. Accordingly, the smell of fruits suddenly arises on my left side so I made my way toward the fruity smell, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay about the human brain In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain isn't the largest organ of the human body it is the most complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia holds the lentiform and the caudate. The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain on the things going on with the human body. The brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only ...show more content... The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The area that passes and processes information concerning touch, pain, temperature, and pressure on skin is the thalamus. The limbic system controls your behavior and emotions. It is involved in emotions such as fear, rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is controlled. The parietal lobe discriminates sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves going up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex receives senses from the nose that it then sorts out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning new information, forming thoughts, and making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The cerebellum is vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain. If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing how god has created the brain to have so many areas Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Descriptive Essay On Adventure Who am I? Well, I like to consider myself an explorer and a traveler. I always like to be doing something interesting. Going on adventures is a pretty important and normal part of my life. I choose to go on them whenever I have the time, energy, and money. This includes hiking, kayaking, camping, exploring abandoned places, and trekking down empty railroads. One of my fondest memories of an adventure I had was at Go Ape in Indianapolis, Indiana. I was turning twelve years old and I did not know what I wanted to do for my birthday. I wanted to do something outdoors and in nature but I didn't know of anything I hadn't already done. I searched and searched to find a place that I had never been to before. I then came across a place called, "Go Ape", and found that there was one not too far away from my house in Indiana. I learned on their website that they were a zipline and treetop climbing park. I had never gone ziplining or treetop climbing at that point in my life or really heard of it before so I was excited to find something new. Even though I was set on going to Go Ape for my birthday, I still had to convince my parents to take me and I needed to invite someone who was over the age of eighteen to join me. I told my mom and dad that I really wanted to go for my birthday and they both agreed to take me. It was 140 miles away and about fifty dollars per person. My parents are both disabled and have cerebral palsy so they were not able to do the course with me. I then Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Descriptive Essay About Myself I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. In order for me to dIscuss who I am in an accurate manner then I must provide some basic background information on myself and talk about the Environment I grew up in. This way people can get a better understanding of why I am the way I am. My Background is so essential In making me myself because If I had been born under any different circumstances or grew up any differently I would be a different person than I am today. I was born inAberdeen Scotland but raised in Fort Bend County Texas. Aberdeen and Fort Bend both have great opportunities but differ in many ways. One way in which they differ is that Fort Bend is very culturally diverse while in Aberdeen most of...show more content... Her family communicates to one another using spanish or sometimes english. I have always grown up in a family that speaks only english so I find it interesting to go over to other people's houses and hear them communicating in another language. On top of all of this meeting different people has also opened my mind to new ideas. For example, in school when we work in group projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them. Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a family with such good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities. One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other competitors and break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. Another Opportunity I am grateful for is the skill of playing the piano. At first I was not all that enthusiastic about playing it but my parents has signed me up and insisted I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Descriptive Essay About My Favorite Place As a child, people will always remember certain destinations that stick with them that made a good impression. I have a place that not only made a good impression, it changed me. It made me think off all the things in life people take for granted; places, people, activates. This place brought all though special things in life to one place where I can enjoy them all at the same time. The Oregon coast. Traveling there, as a kid was always special. Waking up early in the morning and driving the long trip there, going through forests, valleys, and cities. The Oregon coast is such a broad place to describe, but in reality, all the towns have the same feel but different atmosphere. Pacific City is small and quiet with a great...show more content... Its cold, windy, and sunny all at the same time. The beach stretches for miles seeming endless, until it reaches a tall cliff with waves crashing against it. The sun shines down on the moisture in the air creating a "sparkling" affect to add to the view. In some spots on the coast giant rock formations stick out of the water, creating a question on how they formed there. Sea creatures dot the sand everywhere. Walking the beach with sand between your toes is and not a worry in your mind is one of the best feelings. If you time it right early in the mornings and late in the night low tide takes place and you can find sand dollars and unique shells. Beautiful houses and hotels line the beach all with the same withered look they all strive to have, and balconies on every place to capture the view. This destination is such an important place to Oregonians because its such a magical place. It transports you into a different dimension where there are no other places like it. You cannot be one the beach without a smile on your face, it's near impossible to be in a gloomy mood when there. Mainly magical because you can escape there with family and friends with many opportunities to try to experience new or traditional things. Like having a fire on a beach roasting s'mores with family and friends, or trying weird sea creature at a restaurant. The Oregon Coast will always hold a spot near to my heart. • 7. Descriptive Essay On A Trip The art studies–at–large trip has been a once in a lifetime trip. From a twenty–four hour plane trip with a stop in Chicago and time zone change, it has been an exhausting yet enjoyable time running around with my classmates in the airport. Being in a different country and experiencing a new culture first hand was astonishing and gave me a new outlook of the beauties in the world. From Montone, Florence, Venice, andRome I had the ultimate trip in Italy. The food, language, and culture were different from what I was used to but it was worth the experience. I was not fond of drinking wine with every dinner though the wine was delicious. I had the best pastas, tiramisus, and coffees while I was in Italy. The art was beautiful; it was breathtaking to see how many free artworks was there for the public. After being in Italy for about a month I can see why people are attracted and want to live in Italy. Montone is a beautiful, peaceful, and friendly town. I enjoyed the walk to town, the covenant, Aries CafГ©, the tavern restaurant, and the town's people. I had the best cappuccino and coffee at Aries and I loved every dish I ate at the tavern restaurant. The view from the covenant was beautiful and works perfectly for a painting. Getting around town was easy with everyone being so nice and helpful. The piazza was a great place to hang out because of friendly the environment was and it was the main spot in town where everyone stayed. • 8. Descriptive Essay About My Country Nashville. When you hear the word Nashville, what pops up in your brain? You probably thing of big city lights and country music. That's definitely not the Nashville I'm talking about. My Nashville is a small town that has exactly four red lights and about 4,700 people in our city limits. Everyone knows each other and it doesn't matter what you're doing or who you're with, give a day and everybody knows what happened. It's the best and worst town to live, all in one. Nashville, Georgia. I've had a lot of good and bad memories in my hometown. Everything that happens isn't too serious or too exciting. Even though everybody knowing your business isn't exactly what most people want, it has it up–sides. People in my community step up to the plate when it is the time to do so. One example would be a hard–working old man that everyone loves, named Gary. Gary works at one of the only decent gas stations in Nashville, trying to keep everyone he meets happy and to make their day a little better. Recently Gary found out he has stomach cancer. Being that he works at gas station, he really doesn't have the funds for medical bills. With Nashville being the tight knit community it is, people have raised almost 5,000 dollars in less than 30 days. Knowing that whatever happens in my life I have a whole town that has my back, is one reason Nashville is so important to me. Imagine only having fun stuff to do on Friday nights. That's how it is in Nashville. If it's not a Friday, you're Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Descriptive Essay About My Neighbour My Neighborhood We always run around chasing each other playing pirates on her swingset like that is the ship and their is a giant squid on the grass trying to eat us. We have lunch together during the summer and then run around chasing each other some more. Olivia pitsch is my neighbor and we love playing with each other all day everyday. Olivia has short dark brown hair and loves being fancy and dressing up. She also likes playing with me all the time. Olivia and me are really best friends we play A LOT of games when were together. Are favorite is explorers. Splish! Splash! goes the water as we stomped by. We lived in a tree and made mud pies and caught fish, frogs, and even crayfish to keep as pets! When explorers ended and we got to wet to continue it was to tiring also so we let go of all of our pets right where we got them from and started playing something else. Once in awhile I can get my friend katelyn to come over and play with us. We would play tag and I would always be it. Eventually, the sun set and we would always have to say goodnight to katelyn when she had to get home and eat supper. But olivia and my day was not over yet we start making plans for what we're gonna do later that night. We said " That's good now let's go eat and get energy for tonight meet here at 8:30 no later." We left our spot at the playset and went back to our homes and ate, ready for tonight. When 8:30 struck I would go outside to olivia's playset and wait for her to show up. • 10. Descriptive Essay About The Park We continued to walk on the walkway while looking out the little island and the large sphere that was placed in the middle of it. This magical ball reflected the scenery of the earth. I could see the trees, the white storks, and the darkened sky in its reflection. And there we were within it, a number ten looking captivatingly at the parallel world on its surface. After a long gaze at the spellbinding sphere, we ventured up the island to find a place to sit down and rest for a while. There was an isolated dark metallic bench sitting at the very far end of the park. We both sat down and said nothing. I stared at the grand view of the park. Everything was intact and flawlessly organized. The sight made me appreciate nature more, and I laughed inside my head about many couples who want to spend their day in a luxurious restaurant eating expensive foods or shopping around in crowded spaces. For a "proper" date, many people would expect to see roses, rings, sex, kisses, and a lot of touching. For us, it was the serene silence that brought us closer. The more I think about this event, the more I relate to the idea that we attempted to be "normal" instead of being "cheesy." Right in front of the bench, someone painted an anonymous quote that ostensibly described our silence. The quote said, "The quieter you become, the more you can hear." I was astonished of such coincidence, but my boyfriend did not even notice it and its meaning. I felt like this park was enchanted by its Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. The New York City Lights The first time I stepped into New York, I was in total shock and awe. Buildings stretching across the horizon. Every taxi in New York blaring their horns at each other. Everywhere you looked, you saw people dressed up in Disney character outfits, asking you for pictures, but also making you pay. Swings from every Broadway show, asking you to buy tickets (even though they are sold out for six months). At night, this gorgeous and miraculous part of New York Citylights up in every color known to man. All the lights reflecting off the windows of buildings makes the "Square" sparkle even more. Taxis coming and going. The roar of the subway beneath your feet. Everyone talking but still being able to hear your own conversation. Lights flashing brightly, babies crying, the homeless constantly asking for money. The smell of 1,000 vendors, many selling gyros. Broadway fans going insane when their favorite cast member walks out of the stage door. People of every race, color, and religion. Being in Times Square gives me goosebumps. It gives me a feeling I never felt before and I only feel in Times Square. It's like being four years old and having a birthday party. It's truly magical. There is no way to accurately describe the jitters you get from the minute you step off the subway to the second you get back on. It is so surreal. Every store from the "Disney Store to a magnificent four–story Forever 21 store is in the heart of Times Square. You can buy chocolate from Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Narrative Essay On Table Dinner On a Friday night almost nine clocks. I and my family were getting the table dinner ready for our guest for tonight. Everyone seems to be happy that we have company coming in. the bell door rang, I rush to the door to open it. Thomas Jefferson – "The Founding Father" arrived. I was honored to have him in my house. I expected all of them to come together at the same time, so we don't have to wait for others in order to eat. I took him to his seat and I told him to make yourself at home. The doorbell rang again, I opened the door. There was C.S. Lewis, his Holiness the Dalai Lama, Gretchen Rubin and Jennifer Michael Hecht standing in line. I was like thank god they came at the same time. I took them to their seats. Before we began eating I told them how happy am I see them and to eat with them. Everyone started eating, While I was eating I was thinking about how happy am I. I asked myself why am I happy right now. Then, I asked everyone at the table, what makes people happy? Is it freedom, money, or pleasure and desire. Jefferson pulls his head up from the dinner plate and said: "that's a good question". According to Jefferson freedom, what makes people happy. The others kept eating than C.S Lewis stopped eating. He looked at me, then at Jefferson. Lewis kind of agreed with that, but not to the point where your action hurt others (228). • 18. Narrative vs. Descriptive Writing A narrative essay uses a point of view to tell a story. It is an engaging way for an author to tell his reader about an experience they have had or a personal story. Descriptive writing is a description of something. It could be a person, place, thing, emotion or experience. The author is allowed more artistic freedom when writing in descriptive form. While both descriptive and narrative essays are similar in many ways, the descriptive essays use of language fully immerses the reader into the story and allows the reader to feel the intended emotion. Descriptive writing is painting a vivid image. When reading I want to be able to lose myself in the writing doesn't everyone? Both narrative and descriptive writing include...show more content... It is very important for a narrative essay to follow a sequence of events. In the narrative essay This Old House, the author followed a clear chronological order. Sedaris told a story that included all of the typical components such as an introduction, and worked its way through all of the events, introducing you to the characters and setting the stage along the way. Our book explains "As you learned earlier, plot is the order, or sequence, of events that unfold in your story. It is crucial that you organize these events so that, by the end of the story, they make sense to the reader and build up to a crucial moment in the narrative. (Connell & Sole, 2013). Sedaris did an excellent job of guiding the reader through the story. In contrast, descriptive writing does not necessarily follow a timeline or story pattern. Descriptive style must use another form of organization. A descriptive essay may for example separate paragraphs by the particular details being described. The author may devote an entire paragraph to a sense, emotion or object. Amy Tan devoted one paragraph to describe her angst and dismay "When I found out that my parents had invited the minister's family over for Christmas Eve dinner, I cried. What would Robert think of our shabby Chinese Christmas? What would he think of our noisy Chinese relatives who lacked proper American manners? This is the place where I can really be myself and do what I want; it's the place I come home to, and wake up every day. My room makes me feel comfortable because it is my own space. My house is always crazy, with my dog barking, and my siblings running around making noise, my room is the only place in the house where I can come and relax without caring about everything else, the only place that I can go to clear my mind. Another reason that my room makes me feel comfortable is that I love to dance, but I am embarrassed to do it in front of other people, so whenever I am in my room I can turn the radio and put on some of my favorite music and dance my best. My room gives me the confidence that I don't have in other places, it helps me to have trust in myself, I can do the most ridiculous thing but my room won't say anything, it will never judge me. My room is the only place where I will try new things and if I feel confident I will try them outside of it. I will give it my best and that is how my room helps me, by doing something there first I believe more in myself. It is the place where I can concentrate and think about everything that is going on around me, not only around my city or state, but all over the world. I get the chance to relax and think in what I want to do with my life, the kind of future I want to achieve. My room is the place where I can go and do my homework without getting distracted, where I can write down my feelings and open my mind to new ideas. Many times I have gone to my room and just write about things that are going around in the world that will affect me sooner or later, like global warming. I will think about everything I have heard, and my room makes me feel comfortable like there is nothing that can stop me from making a comment and saying what is on my mind. • 20. Descriptive Essay The Interesting Bus Ride Home When most people think about an eventful or memorable place, they almost certainly would not picture a bus. As we all know, buses are not exactly attractive. The design scheme is the same in almost every bus: rows and rows of brown seats, a thin black aisle down the middle of the bus, hundreds of hazy windows, and the big, lemon–yellow exterior. Not many people, I am sure, would consider buses to be an important part of their lives. However, if a person were to think about it, they would realize that they probably have had at least one memorable experience in their life that took place on a bus. One of the most memorable bus experiences in my life happened when I was in fifth grade. The final bell at...show more content... "Duh," I replied, rolling my eyes, "but that is my backpack you're sitting next to!" "Why don't you just sit with one of your little friends over there," he inquired with an oh–so–smug look on his face. "Kia, sit down! We've got to get going," the bus driver yelled. I leaned in closer, glaring at the obnoxious little worm. "Because this is my seat. Why don't you go sit with one of your friends?" "Why don't you make me?" "Sit down back there!" If looks could kill, that boy would have been fried right then and there. "Fine," he groaned, "but next time I'm not moving." "Whatever, Nathan, just hurry up," I spat. As I sat down in my regained seat, my friends and I all looked at each other and, at the exact same time, said, "He is so annoying!" We all laughed, and began trading stories of various "Nathan" experiences, which made us all glad that there was only one Nathaniel Larson at our school. After hearing about some of the things he had done, I felt rather virtuous for standing up to him, almost like an oppressed servant that had just stood up to the miserable master of the house and won. Everyone commented on how brave I was for making him leave, but I just shrugged and said, "If you get mad enough, you would be surprised what you're suddenly capable of."
