The slide depicts the pathetic state the world is entering into and how we as a community and individuals can take up certain measures to save and protect the environment , whether it is in our workplace or home
4. What is environment?
• In context of business line : The sum total of all surroundings of a living
organism, including natural forces and other
living things, which provide conditions for development and growth as well
as of danger and damage.
• In context of humanistic view : The surroundings around you , the air that
you breath , the water that you drink , the greenery and exquisite view of the
world that you see when in travel or pictures and your heart , mind and soul
reacts to it in the form of WOW , WHAT A BEAUTY AND CREATION
OF GOD! That is environment!
5. Issues of Environment
• There are many environmental issues in India. Air pollution, water
pollution, garbage, and pollution of the natural environment are all
challenges for India. The situation was worse between 1947 through 1995.
According to data collection and environment assessment studies of World
Bank experts, between 1995 through 2010, India has made one of the fastest
progress in the world, in addressing its environmental issues and improving
its environmental quality. Still, India has a long way to go to reach
environmental quality similar to those enjoyed in developed economies.
Pollution remains a major challenge and opportunity for India.
14. Corrective measures
• Use compact fluorescent light bulbs:
It is true that these bulbs are more expensive, but they last much longer and they can save energy and
in the long term your electricity bill would be reduced.
• Donate:
You have tons of clothes or things you want to get rid of. If they are still usable, give them to
someone who needs them. You may also choose to give them to associations. These associations may
sell them and collect a little money. Not only will you protect the environment, but you will also
contribute to a good cause.
• Turn off your devices:
When you do not use a house device, turn it off. For example, if you don't watch TV, turn it off. Turn
off the light when you leave a room (even if you intend to return.) It's an easy habit to take up which
will help you save a lot of money.
15.
16. • Walk or cycle:
Driving is one of the biggest causes of pollution. If you want to use your car, ask yourself the
following question: do I really need my car? Walk or use your bike if the journey is a short one.
• Detergent:
Follow the recommended dose of detergent to wash your clothes or dishes.
• leaky faucets:
Watch leaky faucets, which can cause a significant increase in the water bill. An average of 120 litres of
water can be wasted due to a dripping faucet.
• Rainwater:
Think of recovering rainwater. This water can be used for different purposes.
• Use solar water heaters and solar lightings at home.
• Turn of vehicle when at signal and while waiting.
• Charge any electrical device when its at its lowest point ( ex. A mobile phone when its down to 5%
keep it for charge , and continuously charge till it becomes 100%.) charging electrical appliances like
this leads to longer battery life of the equipment.
