2. What is MAKEVR?
Steve Handsted, the product manager for
MAKEVR from Sixense Entertainment describes
it as:
◦ “a professional industry standard CAD-based
modelling tool that has a ‘gameified’ two-handed
interface as the user controller input”.
An ideal tool for rapid prototyping especially for games
designed for Virtual Reality.
It also has a collaborative interface allowing up to five
people to work in the one project file and even allows
other users to see where the others are working on
through avatars within the workspace.
It is designed for a range of skill sets and has many of
the tools that are in other modelling softwares.
It utilizes 3D motion controls called the STEM System
3. What is the STEM System?
The STEM System is a wireless motion tracking
controller system using magnetic trakcing
technology.
It tracks the full position and orientation of the
controllers at all times and does not need to be
in the line of sight of the Base.
It’s key components are:
◦ STEM Base – The port on which the controllers and
packs can recharge and acts as a stationary
reference point for each STEM
◦ STEM Controller – Each controller has a trigger,
bumper, buttons and an analogue joystick
◦ STEM Pack – Each system can use up to five packs.
One for each controller, one for each ankle and on
for either the head or chest/abdomen.

Editor's Notes
Essentially it’s a modelling program which uses two STEM System controllers to allow the user to model using a “3D” interface.
Essentially MAKEVR is a replacement to the 2D modelling interface that is using a Mouse and Keyboard.
This technology brings real world sculpting into the digital world
Scaling: Rather than scaling your models you can scale yourself into a giant to plant buildings in a city or scale yourself right down to go inside those buildings and create furniture.
Each stem controller is like one half of a standard gaming controller
