sixth sense technology is a gesture recognizing technology developed by pranav mistry . Having fascinating features which will make you a fan of this technology
3. INTRODUCTION
'Sixth Sense' is a wearable gestural interface that
augments the physical world around us with digital
information and lets us use natural hand gestures to
interact with that information.
It can turn any surface into a touch-screen for
computing, controlled by simple hand gestures.
It was invented by STEVE MANNSTEVE MANN and developed
by PRANAV MISTRYPRANAV MISTRY in 2003 in MIT MEDIA
LAB
5. CAMERA
Captures an object
in view and tracks
the user’s hand
gestures.
It sends the data
to smart phone.
It acts as a
digital eye
6. PROJECTOR
A tiny LED
projector
It projects visual
information enabling
surfaces and
physical objects to
be used as
interfaces.
7. MICROPHONE
microphone is an
optionaloptional component
of the SixthSense.
It is used to convert
a paper into a
computing interface.
8. MIRROR AND
SMARTPHONE
The usage of the mirror
is significant as the
projector dangles
pointing downwards
from the neck
It searches the Web
and interprets the hand
gestures
9. MARKERS
It is at the tip of the
user’s fingers .
The movements and
arrangements of these
makers are interpreted
into gestures that act
as interaction
instructions for the
projected application
interfaces.
11. APPLICATIONS
MAKE A CALL
You can use the Sixth
Sense to project a
keypad onto your
hand, then use that
virtual keypad to
make a call.
12. With the map
application we can
call up the map of
our choice and then
use thumbs and
index fingers to
navigate the map.
CALL UP A MAP
13. CHECK THE TIME
Draw a circle
on your wrist
to get a virtual
watch that
gives you the
correct time.
14. GET PRODUCT
INFORMATION
Sixth Sense uses
image recognition to
recognize products
we pick up, then
feeds us
information on
those products.
15. FEED INFORMATION ON
PEOPLE
• It will project the
information of any
particular person
after recognizing
face , if information
of that face is
available on the
database to which
smartphone is
connected
16. TAKING PICTURES
• If we arrange our index fingers and thumbs in
"framing""framing" gesture then it will take a picture
17. ADVANTAGES
Portability of device
Supports multi touch
Visualization of Digital WorldDigital World
Time saving
Cost effective
18. DISADVANTAGES
Health issues due to the effective
projection quality.
Privacy concerns.
Still need modification to reduce its
maintanance cost
