NOTARIZED waivers for riders with PARENTAL/LEGAL GUARDIAN signatures must be
postmarked and mailed no later than November 5, 2013. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS.
No waiver = no ride.
ADVISORS must be present at the coaches’ meeting to draw horses for students.
Each chapter is allowed a maximum of five riders total across all classes
Each rider must be classified according to his or her ability. The advisor is responsible to
ensure a student is entered in the appropriate class.
Murray State University will provide the horses, tack, judges, and student handlers for the day
of the contest.
Attire must be provided by the participants and should be appropriate to the selected riding
discipline. The use of helmets in the stock seat division is left up to the advisors’ discretion.
If they are to be used, the chapter or participant must provide them.
Horses will be drawn after the coaches’ meeting. Descriptions of the horses will be provided
on “tip cards” to make the riders aware of certain behaviors, i.e. Horse has a tendency to
cheat, hesitant to take the left lead, shakes head when ridden heavy handed, etc.
Riders will mount their horse before their class and will have the stirrups adjusted for them by
their coach or teacher. Student handlers will then lead the horses to the arena. Upon entering
the arena, judging begins. THERE IS NO WARM UP TIME!!
Chapters may not have multiple riders in one class.
A rider may choose to ride in both divisions, but may only ride in one class per division.
