for a
treatment
In this meeting, you will
learn some procedures in
treating the patient.

Antiseptics wipe, specimen tube, cotton ball, syringe, needle, tourniquets, plaster
1. Probe …. an instrument or tight bandage wrapped round a limb to constrict an artery, so
reducing the flow of blood and stopping bleeding from a wound
2. Pipette …. a medical instrument made of a tube with a plunger forcing the contents out through
a needle as in an injection.
3. Tourniquet …. a piece of cloth which is wrapped around a wound or an injured limb
4. drain …. an instrument used to explore inside a cavity or wound
5. Syringe …. two earpieces connected to a tube and a metal disc, used to listen to sounds made
inside the body
6. Bandage …. an instrument for measuring temperature
7. stethoscope …. a thin glass tube used for taking and measuring samples of liquid
8. thermometer …. a tube used to remove liquid from the body

Imperative adalah verb (kata kerja) yang digunakan untuk
memberikan command (perintah), warning (peringatan), advice (nasehat), instruction
(instruksi/petunjuk), maupun request (permintaan).

Read the steps and
choose the best
treatment
Taking Vital Sign
● Respiratory rate
● Heart rate
● Body temperature
● Blood pressure
What is it?
● Wash your hands.
● Make sure that individual is at rest before you begin.
● Find the artery inside of the wrist closest to thumb.
● Press firmly but gently use first or second fingertips.
● Count the beats of the pulse for 15 seconds or multiply by 4
What is it?
● Wash your hand
● Place your fingers on the individual’s wrist
● Count the breaths (inhale and exhale = 1
respiratory) for one minute
● Note and observe the breath
What is it?
● Wash your hands
● Cover thermometer mouth tip with a clean plastics shield.
● Press button to set the thermometer
● Place thermometer under tongue and instruct individual to close
mouth
● Wait several minute
● Write the temperature
What is it?
● Hold the bulb in your right hand.
● Press the power button until the monitor is ready.
● Inflate the cuff by squeezing the bulb with your right hand
● Watch the gauge. Keep inflating the cuff until the gauge reads
about 30 points (mm Hg) above your expected systolic pressure.
● Sit quietly and watch the monitor
● Wait for a long beep. This means that the measurement is complete
● Allow the cuff to deflate.
● Write the result
What you read are how to do something.
But
Do you say ‘wash my hand’ or ‘roll the sleeve’ to a
patient?
No!
You have to say ‘I will wash my hand’ or ‘Can you roll
up the sleeve?
‘I will wash my hand’ is information
‘Can you roll up the sleeve’ is instruction
Listen to the tract and match the instruction

Listen again and repeat the sentence

Making Polite Request
We use Can/Could you + Infinitive when we ask to do
something for us.

Giving information
We use will + V1 to make prediction for the future
and to talk about decisions.
Prediction : You will feel better
Decision : I will take your temperature now.
Arrange this sentences to polite request

  • 14. Read the steps and choose the best treatment
  • 15. Taking Vital Sign ● Respiratory rate ● Heart rate ● Body temperature ● Blood pressure
  • 16. What is it? ● Wash your hands. ● Make sure that individual is at rest before you begin. ● Find the artery inside of the wrist closest to thumb. ● Press firmly but gently use first or second fingertips. ● Count the beats of the pulse for 15 seconds or multiply by 4
  • 17. What is it? ● Wash your hand ● Place your fingers on the individual’s wrist ● Count the breaths (inhale and exhale = 1 respiratory) for one minute ● Note and observe the breath
  • 18. What is it? ● Wash your hands ● Cover thermometer mouth tip with a clean plastics shield. ● Press button to set the thermometer ● Place thermometer under tongue and instruct individual to close mouth ● Wait several minute ● Write the temperature
  • 19. What is it? ● Hold the bulb in your right hand. ● Press the power button until the monitor is ready. ● Inflate the cuff by squeezing the bulb with your right hand ● Watch the gauge. Keep inflating the cuff until the gauge reads about 30 points (mm Hg) above your expected systolic pressure. ● Sit quietly and watch the monitor ● Wait for a long beep. This means that the measurement is complete ● Allow the cuff to deflate. ● Write the result
