3. Unit Description
I currently teach Head Start Preschool and I believe
that all of these great web tools are far to advanced
for my student population.
While these tools are not appropriate to use with my
students, they are how ever very useful as tools I
can use to teach my students parents.
This “unit” is a collection of presentations that
currently do at my classroom Parent site meetings
with descriptions of how I would incorporate Web
2.0 tools.

Introduce safety curriculum and
Policy Council

• SlideShare presentation created to present information
about the safety curriculum our program uses to share
with all parents in attendance.
• A second part of the SlideShare presentation will
introduce what Policy Council is and the responsibilities
of Policy council representatives.

Web 2.0 tool for presentation: Prezi
• A Prezi presentation will be created for all major areas
of development.
• All areas will be described and pictures of children
participating in the type of play of each of the areas of
development will be shared.

Web 2.0 tool for presentation: Screen Casting
• This Screen Casting presentation will take place at
the Salem Public Library!
• Families will be able to attend our own private
bilingual story time! Then following the story time the
children will visit the discovery room while parents
remain for Screen Casting presentation.
• Presentation will cover two websites

Please Try this at home!
Web 2.0 tool for this presentation will be blogging.
• At this presentation parents and students will be invited to
learn how to put together or make some of our favorite
classroom activities.
• I will have hard copies of recipe’s and instructions at the
presentation along with supplies so parents and children
can work together on these activities.
• I will then use an overhead to show them a blog I have
created filled with different activities that we use in
class, categorized by developmental area.
• At the end of the presentation I will send them home with
the blog address and encourage them to visit and explore!
8. Presentation #5
Watch us grow
Web 2.0 tool for this presentation will be YouTube.
• This would be at our final meeting and our final
presentation.
• At this presentation we would take care of our end of
the year paper work business and then have an end of
the year celebration.
• During this celebration I would have a computer set up
showing video clips and slide shows with music that is
set up on you tube.
• I will then have the link available for parents so they
can look at them at home.
9. Justification of use of Web 2.0 tools
#1: SlideShare: I chose this tool for this presentation because it is a
great way to move through and present the information I want to
share.
#2: Prezi: I chose to use Prezi for this presentation because it allows
me to present the big picture and then zoom in to each individual area
sharing information and pictures.
#3: Screen casting: I chose screen casting for this presentation
because it allows me to show parents how to navigate the two
websites at my presentation and then provide them with links so that
they revisit the visual instructions if needed.
#4: Blogging: I chose this tool for this presentation because it is such a
great way to share information with my families. Children frequently
ask parents to do the activities we do in class at home and with this
blog I described parents will have the opportunity to look up the
activity from home when ever they want.
#5: YouTube: Video/slide show with music. I love to set up slide shows
at the end of the year displaying pictures of my students for parents to
look at. I really like the idea of creating a slideshow with music along
with putting together video clips I have taken through out the year.
