Introduction
Seeded job roles in Fusion HCM secure data in Oracle Transactional Business
Intelligence similar to data returned in Fusion application pages. In some cases,
however, it may be necessary to provide either more liberal or more restrictive access to
reporting data in OTBI than in Fusion.
This whitepaper details the steps to create specialized “reporting” job roles for accessing
data in OTBI subject areas in Release 12.
4. 3 | CUSTOMIZED REPORTING ROLES
Creating Custom Roles for Reporting
1. Navigate to Tools -> Security Console to create a custom job role (Role Category should
be HCM – Job Roles)
2. Click Next to advance to the Role Hierarchy step.
3. Click Add Role to add OTBI and HCM roles required for subject area and data security
access. (Refer to the Subject Area Security Mapping section for the OTBI app roles and
HCM app roles required for each subject area.) Remember to add the BIAuthor role if
the create report privilege is required in OTBI. You must add both the OTBI and HCM
roles. OTBI roles will provide functional access to the subject areas. HCM roles will
provide the necessary grants to access the data in the subject areas.
In this example, BI Author Role, Workforce Transaction Analysis and Workforce Transaction Analysis Duty have
been added. The remaining roles are automaticallydisplayed in the Security Console since they are indirectly
inherited.
4. Advance to the Summary and Impact Report step and click Save and Close to save
changes.
5. Navigate to Setup and Maintenance and Search for Manage Data Role and Security
Profiles task to generate a data role for the custom job role.

6. Create a new data role with the required access for each of the security profiles
required by your custom job role.
7. Assign the new data role to your user(s) in the Users tab of the Security Console.
8. Navigate to Scheduled Processes to run the Import User and Role Application Security
Data process.
