How Did Australia Wear Uniform In Ww1
World War I– Australia On the 4th of August 1914, Britain declared war on Germany as part of the Triple Entente with Russia and France. Australia
immediately stood alongside Britain and offered them an initial amount of 20,000 men to support them, which was gratefully accepted. Australia had to
make a separate force for services overseas – the force being named the Australian Imperial Force (AIF). It soon departed from Australia on the 1st of
November 1914. Within this time period, there was very little time to design a distinctive uniform and insignia for the AIF. Therefore the basic
uniform for the AIF wore was: A tunic worn with khaki cord breeches, also known as the 'jacket service dress' and the Commonwealth Pattern Jacket.
After consultation with medical advisers, physiological advisers, and the officers of the Department of Defence it was introduced 1912. It was
especially designed to be loose fitting, allow free movement of the arms, and and to allow a circulation of air for the chest or neck.... Show more content

Field Training For Food Service
Field training for food service is similar to street vendors in cities and towns. The "gut man" as some would call him is the morning food delivery
truck that comes to your place of work and serves you up with an "eat on the go" concept. This is similar to the Army's Field Food service program.
The "eat on the go" concept is a growing idea and the military is the best at making this idea a reality. In combat environments there is no time to wine
and dine or even have the time to enjoy a nice meal. Therefore the focus on field training for food service is to create a program that feeds the soldier
the best quality meal available any given time, any place. As a trainer of food service the words passion and love have to be involved in order to make
the program a success.
The headquarters for the Food Service Program in the Army is in Fort Lee Virginia. It is the home of the Quartermaster. The training facility were
the soldier will partake the better part of this training is called the Joint Culinary Center of Excellence (JCCOE), and the department were they will
learn about the food service in the field is called Field Operations Training Branch. The training focuses on teaching a soldier how to prepare meals in
a field training exercise or in the real time of the battle field or combat. The trainers in a business environment would be considered the managers. In
the planning face of training, the trainers/managers would first have to be subjected to a proper screening to

Appearance Is a Very Important and Highly Regarded Concept...
Appearance is a very important and highly regarded concept in the military. It is the staple of first impressions, the visual hand shake. A sergeant looks
at his soldiers and judges their readiness for the day with how they appear. Why? Because it is a representation of honor, integrity, and duty. Asoldier
who takes the time out his day to make sure he looks excellent and looks like he is a soldier shows that he is a dedicated worker and that his
Non–commissioned officers do not have to waste their time with correcting his deficiencies. Aspects of appearance in the military include: looking
physically healthy, If a soldier doesn't look healthy than he looks like he may not be able to perform soldiering task and the basic duties given to ...

After the war ended, men who had served in the Pacific and Europe came home and entered the civilian workforce. They kept their habits in military
hair grooming and, instead of wearing army fatigues; they wore the civilian uniform like a nice suit. During the 1950s, men didn't have much latitude
in their dress or hairstyles. The clean cut style that was inspired by the military standard was the style of choice for men who conformed to society's
expectations and wanted to look professional. There a variety of reasons for the United states military to impose such a strict hair standard. One
practical reason for the military–style haircut is to prevent the spread of lice among the troops, who often live in close quarters, as stated before. Lice
are small insects that live on the scalp or body and can be spread through close contact. By ensuring hair is kept short and clean, the military can
prevent outbreaks that would be disruptive to both training exercises and missions and overall military effectiveness. Another very important reason is
for safety while in garrison and in the field. Hair must be kept short and groomed while serving in the military so headgear, including helmets,
communication equipment and protective masks, can be worn properly. If hair is too thick or long,

Air Force Clothing Allowance Policy
POSITION PAPER
ON
UNITED STATES AIR FORCE CLOTHING ALLOWANCE POLICY CHANGE
1. This paper addresses the United States Air Force's annual enlisted active duty clothing allowance policy. It will advocate for swapping to a
controlled, one–for–one uniform exchange program from the current individual monetary payment system. By examining current system costs, potential
negative feedback from affected parties, additional options available for members to procure items, and similar systems already being utilized, a
potential for cost savings becomes clear.
2. The United States Air Force has a set annual monetary clothing allowance amount that is further broken down into male and female distribution
categories.1 The current amount of enlisted Air Force active duty members is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Depending on different career field types or if a person is a member of the Air National Guard, and if their state and orders status allows, they might
already participate in a one–for–one uniform exchange program.9 When these individuals uniform items become unserviceable, they would have the
option to return the items to the material management section responsible for reissuing serviceable uniforms. Enlisted members have the responsibility
of maintaining seven complete sets of uniforms, but in the case of special purpose clothing requirements for assigned duties the organizational is
responsible to ensure the member has the proper clothing.10 When examining uniform wear and tear, certain career fields are more susceptible to
developing unserviceable uniforms; therefore, the individuals within those career fields have to spend more money than ones whose positions do not
require them to be in such harsh working conditions.11 By going to a one–for–one uniform exchange program, individuals will only receive uniform
items when those already have become unserviceable. This practice will also ensure individuals do not unnecessarily receive new uniform items every

Professionalism In The Army Research Paper
Professionalism, Stewardship, and Maintaining a Professional Appearance
Professionalism is a vital character trait when it comes to being a Soldier in the United States Army. Professionalism is composed of several key
characteristics when it comes to the definition of the word itself, which is "the skill, good judgement, and polite behavior that is expected from a
person who is trained to do a job well," according to the Merriam–Webster dictionary. In the Army, it is expected for all soldiers to be able to
competently achieve the most basic standards of self–discipline in order to display a professional appearance at all times.
Professionalism breaks down into several categories which add up to what is known as the "whole Soldier concept." ... Show more content on

The rules and regulations for the wear of the Army Uniform are clearly outlined in Army Regulation 670–1. This regulation covers the way that we as
soldiers must wear the United States Army uniform, but it also covers the way that we as professional Soldiers must look in and out of uniform.
There are regulations about how long fingernails can be, what color hair is allowed to be dyed, what type of makeup can be used, how many rings
can be worn, how tattoos, if any, are allowed to be placed, and even what type of hairstyles are allowed to be used. These regulations assist us, as

Equality Of Women In The Military Essay
Women and men are different. This is a fact, and anyone who says otherwise is wrong. The idea of equality has twisted this very basic truth. The
United States military is trying to remain in social graces, and this has brought upon a decision to make female service members dress and act more
like male service members. From the time of America's first war, women have served in the U.S. military. "During the American Revolutionary War,
women served the U.S. Army in traditional roles as nurses, seamstresses and cooks for troops in camp" (Women in the U.S. Army). This dedication
has only increased over time. CNN reported that 203,000 women served as active duty military in the year 2011 (By the Numbers: Women in the U.S.
Military). These female service members have standards and regulations, much like their male counterparts. Many, but ... Show more content on

Now it has come into question if the standards display social equality for the women of the military. It is absurd as well as unnecessary to create gender
neutral standards when the sexes differ so greatly. From the uniform they wear, to the duties they perform, females have proven themselves to be
equal service members, deserving to stand apart from the men. Women have courageously served in the military in many ways. "During the
American Revolutionary War, women served the U.S. Army in traditional roles as nurses, seamstresses and cooks for troops in camp (Women in
the U.S. Army)." These jobs were needed to keep the military healthy and functional to continue the fight. These women were not sheltered from the
war, and were by no means safe from harm. During the Civil War females held many of the same positions, and faced the same dangers. The only
female recipient of the Medal of Honor was Dr. Mary E Walker, who was captured by Confederate forces in 1862. During peace time, the regular
military was not enlisting women, but when war was declared, women became invaluable. Brigadier General Edwin H. Simmons, who served in the

People Wear Uniforms In The 1940's
In certain schools and communities, people would have to wear uniforms; it was a requirement. People would be wearing uniforms to show others
that they are in a private school or in a particular club or event. In the 1940's when WWII started, men and women were told to wear uniforms. It
was an order to have them on, it would show the citizens that they were part of a system where they need to wear their uniforms. At the time the
fashion for men and women was a big change. During the war men and women had a change in clothes/uniforms. Men and women were demanded
to wear different uniforms. "Women wore head scarves, turbans (which is a blanket like cloth that wraps the hair so it's safe), high heeled shoes, and
kangaroo cloaks", which that is kangaroo skin coats . "Safety for women was an important style when they were working in factories or workshops".
An forbidden rule or law or illicit item during the war was called a "zoot suit", this clothing was worn at night clubs. It is a jacket with wide lapels,

Importance of Uniformity
UNIFORMITY AND ITS INPORTANCE IN THE ARMY
Uniforms help identify or tell us someone's job or an organization they belong to. When you see a uniform it tells you something about the person
wearing it. When you think about it, you see uniforms everyday. For example, doctors, police, chefs, and us soldiers.
Uniforms can tell you that a person is there to help you. It makes them look different from other people so you can identify/recognize them more easily.
Think of doctors, nurses, police, firemen and soldiers. A uniform, as opposed to a costume, is clothing of a certain type, style, and make up that is
required by the organization the person belongs to. An Army uniform is actually described in Army regulations and Federal law... Show more content

This uniform may also be worn to civilian functions such as weddings, religious services, and the like.
The Class B uniform omits the coat. The tie can also be omitted if the short–sleeve shirt is worn. The Class B uniform is what soldiers wear when they
are not working in a field environment. Soldiers in the National Guard who serve part–time do not generally wear these uniforms, but you will need to
know some information about them.
The ACU uses a new military camouflage pattern called the Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP), which blends green, tan, and gray to work
effectively in desert, and urban environments. The ACU consists of a field jacket, trousers, headwear, a t–shirt, and footwear. The Army is about
executing the mission, whether it's unloading supplies at a warehouse in Texas, or going on patrol in Iraq. The ability to execute tasks is something
that must be practiced. A similar example can be found in the NFL. In NFL minicamps the players are practicing techniques, and plays every day in
order to ensure they can execute when game time comes around.
Uniforms were made to provide a method to identify the soldiers. The uniform helped to identify friend from foe and to identify the type of soldier and
his rank within his unit.
Uniforms were standardized and each soldier became an element of a larger entity.
It may seem silly to make a big deal about a badge not being 1/2 an

That's something we as military police soldiers can 't be. Whenever you pull over that first sergeant, or that captain that are not only going to look at
your rank but your uniform as well, because they are most likely going to think "his uniform look like shit, how do I know if he is doing his job
correctly when he can 't even maintain his uniform looking as it should." That where I believe our leaders come into play, they are not only there
to help us, but also to fix us when we are wrong. So when I keep blowing off the fact my uniform did look like shit, I should have gone to one of
them to see if they could help me fix the mistake. It's important to wear to army uniform correctly because the habits you do while you are home in

sure you have the right equipment. To make sure you are not missing the little things like you camel bag, or even the big things like you weapon.
That's why it's important to always check yourself in the mirror before you leave. Not only to check you have the right things but also to make sure
everything is in the right place, looking how it should. The same goes for whenever you go out, you always want to be looking good at all times,
where ever you go. That's the same type of thinking you need to have every time you put on

The wear and appearance of soldiers in the United States Army are while in uniform should be neat. There should be no excess "things" in a person's
pocket but it should lie down flat. The person wearing the uniform should look neat and concise not drawing attention to themselves. Soldiers
should look like a unit or group with everyone blending in not standing out because they look different. In the army it's important to be part of a
team. This is important in the armed forces especially because of what they do. In the army, marines, navy, and air force soldiers are called upon to
fight in the battle field. If soldiers cannot show unity by doing a simple basic thing of wearing the same uniform alike how anyone could expect them
to fight and win a nation's battle. This is why the army has proved a guideline of regulations for soldiers in the United States Army to wear and abide
by. This regulation is army regulation six hundred dash one which covers the dress and appearance of army uniforms in any given situation.

A leader unwilling to sacrifice individual goals for the good of the unit cannot convince other unit members to do so. The mission suffers with
potentially devastating effects. While personal goals often coincide with Army goals, there is no room for personal agendas at the expense of the
institution or the American people. It is a standard in the hierarchy of military customs and courtesies that the leader must display to his subordinates
that he is willing to put in extra effort, sacrifice personal time, and show initiative and motivation in order to achieve the same from his Soldiers.
Tardiness is not tolerated in the military. It reflects inattention to duty. In addition to being extremely impolite, on active duty, it is punishable under

The Roman and U.S. Military
The Roman Republic military was one of the first well–organized military of all time. Because of this, most succeeding militaries follow their example
by adopting and adapting some of the same characteristics. The Roman and U.S. military are from different eras, but still share similar characteristics
as well as vast modernized differences that have established the U.S. military as efficient and organized. Separating a military into unique specialized
forces increases efficiency and the Romans knew that. The Roman legions consisted of: "10 cohorts to one legion, six centuries to one cohort, 10 tents
to one cohort, eight soldiers to one tent, 120 cavalry" (Lloyd, 2013). The Roman formation was the triplex acies, which was the hastati, ... Show more

The U.S. military uniforms are completely different from the Roman Republic; nothing is the same except for the use of a helmet. Warfare has
changed since the ancient times and with that change, what soldiers wear for protection had to change as well. The consistency of the same
soldier is to maintain experienced soldiers. Constantly training new soldiers is a waste of time and money. Nations worldwide for every era
understood the concept of a time in which soldiers must serve in the military. In the Roman Republic, it changed throughout the years. At first
soldiers had to stay for six years with ten years nonconsecutive. Later it was changed to twenty years, but after the sixteenth year, the soldier was
considered a veteran. The final change was twenty years with an additional five years as a veteran (Southern, 2006). Even though the Romans
were very strict on the soldiers, the army was superior to any other nation because of this consistency in soldiers. The U.S. military is vastly
different with their length of service. Citizens can be in the military for active or inactive duty, they can also be in the reserves where they would
only be deployed if necessary. Soldiers can also have contracts depending on the branch for two, four, six, or eight years. Soldiers can also do tours
of duty for a length of time. There is also the possibility of having a long time career in the military. The U.S. military has a larger span of options to

Military Bearing Essay
In the United States Army, military bearing is the root in which every service member practices in order to carry out good discipline and ethics
throughout ones military careers. The Three General Orders of a Soldier, The articles of UCMJ, as well as our own Sailors Creed illustrates how a
military service member should conduct himself or herself on a daily basis, on and off duty. Dependability is a major aspect ofmilitary bearing. Without
dependability, one can neither perform properly in the workspace nor be depended upon by their coworkers, or chain of command to carry out their
military duties adequately. A military member is required to be PUNCTUAL, and RELIABLE.
Lack of this in a service member not only hinders the mission of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As service members, military bearing is a vast assortment of rules and ethics that govern our everyday life. For instance, a clean and presentable
uniform, knowing ones facing movements, how to respectively address a senior officer, as well as being prompt for basic soldier tasks. Keeping a clean
uniform shows to other members the pride that you take in the obligations you hold in serving your country. Personnel inspections as well as award
ceremonies demonstrate to ones chain of command how the effectiveness of this military bearing takes place. Knowing how to properly march, stand
at attention, parade rest, as well as all other facing movements establishes one's ability to follow orders precisely.
Respecting senior officers is imperative in order to maintain good military order up and down the chain of command. Punctuality is key aspect of
one's Army career. Tardiness can affect the mission of the command. In such an event as recall, one cannot afford to be late in carrying out their
assigned tasks, for the repercussions can be severe to ones fellow soldiers as well as to the integrity of the unit. Being late to ones place of duty can
affect the quality of work being done in the work environment.
First call is a vital necessity within our Army where ones chain of command can brief all soldiers on new information concerning either the mission or
ones specific job. Guard is every soldiers duty. Without a proper and thorough turnover it hinders the

The Way and Life of General Carl A. Spaatz Essay
The Way and Life of General Carl A. Spaatz      The name General Carl 'Tooey' Andrew Spaatz has become
synonymous with the phrase air power and strategist. Air power has come along way since Wilbur and Orville launched the first airplane in 1902 in
the city of Kitty Hawk. Famous engineers have taken the Wright–Brothers design and made great improvements to them while slowly integrating these
new powerful means of transportation, weaponry and communication aids into the military. Since the onset of World War I there has been a debate on
how to most effectively use these new airplanes in the Army's collection. Most individuals believed that airplanes should be under control of the Army

Due to his perseverance to consciously break the rules Spaatz was written up a number of times for failing to perform to the military standard. His
wife claims he was not the ideal military soldier and often defied the rules set upon him, as he was still marching punishment tours on graduation
day (Mets 7). Some of Spaatz's infractions include failing to clean his rifle properly, gambling, smoking and drinking. The USMA focuses on
developing obedience, loyalty and discipline among their plebes; however, the one thing that developed the most was Spaatz's willingness to go
against the majority. David R. Mets writes in, Master of Airpower that the one thing learned during his years at USMA was a, "disposition to
challenge the system" (7). This ability to have his own ideas and persistence developed at USMA and would be very important in Spaatz's push for
a separate and equal Air Force. Spaatz's character development, particularly in the areas of leadership, perseverance and military knowledge did not
end with his graduation from the United States Military Academy. After his commission into the Army he was sent to the ideal 2nd Lieutenant
location of Hawaii where he was placed in charge of a regiment of black soldiers. He then moved on to the Army Air Service in 1915 and eventually
landed in North Island, San Diego, California. While at North Island, Spaatz was very active; he

environment is shifting to a joint service effort. I had the privilege to deploy to a combined engineering directorate where I worked with the Army,
Navy, and Air Force. We all wore the Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform and it truly felt like we were working as one team for the same
mission. With service identity and morale issues aside, the bottom line is costs savings for development and production. It is estimated that the Army
alone could save about $82 million if other branches would work together to develop a new camo design. Eliminating multiple uniforms across the
service branches would also allow the military to shift the focus to other priorities rather than spending precious time and money on unnecessary
uniform design.

Degradation of Discipline in the United States Army
Abstract The need for discipline in the armed forces is well recognized, and the Uniform Code of Military Justice as well as the respective codes of
conduct for the enlisted, warrant and commissioned officers of the military place a high priority on discipline. Despite the ongoing need for a
well–disciplined military, some authorities have cited a degrading level of discipline in the U.S. armed forces in general and in the U.S. Army in
particular. This paper examines the relevant literature to determine if this is the case, and provides a summary of the research and important findings
in the conclusion. Degradation of Discipline in the United States Army History is replete with examples of where discipline was used as a combat
multiplier or where its absence spelled disaster and defeat. –– Lieutenant General Richard C. Harding, 2010 Introduction There have been four
instances of Afghani security forces, wearing the uniform of the Afghanistan army, opening fire on their American counterparts in recent years, killing

Edward Vernon Rickenbacker, more commonly known as "Eddie", was the third of eight children, born to William and Elizabeth Rickenbacker in
Columbus, Ohio on October 8, 1890. Just as most adolescent boys, he went through a defiant stage. As a child, he was quite the delinquent, for he

might depend on it. Camouflage was first understood by hunters as far as from prehistoric time. These hunters observed and understood how an animal
had a protection beyond just teeth and claws. They discovered that most animals could mix it with a natural background such as trees, leaves, and
rocks, make them undetectable to other animals and humans. The military has little used at the beginning of these techniques. There are few examples
of the use of camouflage in ancient and medieval warfare because camouflage was rare at that time. A well–known example of camouflage was during
the 17th century when William Shakespeare described the medieval warriors that were ready to march on Macbeth at his fortress at Dunsinane

Therefore, a neat and wellgroomed appearance by all soldiers is fundamental to the Army and contributes to building the pride and esprit essential to an

needs" (The Salvation Army, 2017). Salvation Army officers and soldiers often wear uniforms. The idea that they should do so originated with Elijah
Cadman who, at the Salvation Army's 'War Congress' in August 1878 said: "I would like to wear a suit of clothes that would let everyone know I
meant war to the teeth and salvation for the world". The uniform identifies the wearer as a Salvationist and a Christian, (The Salvation Army, 2017). It
also symbolizes availability to those in need. The uniform takes many forms internationally but is characterized by the 'S' insignia for 'Salvation' and

Expert Action Badge Essay
The Army's Plan for the Expert Action Badge and Its Impact On May 2, 2005, the United States Army approved the Combat Action Badge (CAB)
for any Soldiers outside of the Infantry and Medical Corps, whom is personally in a combat zone and engages or is engaged by enemy forces. The
Infantry and the Medical Corps have had their own badges since the 1940s and have enjoyed decades of exclusivity in this regard. Soldiers met the
introduction of the CAB with mixed responses. Feedback came in the form of elation, indifference, and in some cases outrage. Currently, the Army
is testing the waters for yet another badge, the Expert Action Badge (EAB). If approved, Soldiers outside of the Infantry and Medical Corps can
earn this badge as recognition for passing a rigorous test of their individual warrior tasks and drills. This paper examines what the EAB is, how
Soldiers can earn one, the positive feedback, and the negative responses from the field over its introduction. Brigadier General Peter L. Jones, Chief of
the Infantry at the time of publication, writes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The refocus on training basic tasks in order to improve readiness and increase Soldier performance is what the Army hopes to achieve. Whether the
introduction of a new badge can or will accomplish this is yet to be seen. The Army continues to test, evaluate, change, and develop the
implementation of the EAB. On February 9, 2018, the Army Times published a new article stating the badge, now named the Expert Soldier Badge,
is nearing the final stage of its development (Meyers, 2018). As the official discussions continue, the comments, opinions, and feedback pour in. The
object of this paper is to educate readers on the Expert Action Badge by examining what the EAB is, how Soldiers can earn one, and explore both
sides of the argument for or against its

The Problem Of High School Students
The goal is to target several audiences, with the main target being high school students. The reason is that high school students are still unsure what
their plans are after graduation, and they are the main individuals that use social media as a key source for news and information. High school students
are the majority of potential recruits that pursued additional sources of information online and were unable or unwilling to find their answers from
military websites or talking with recruiters (Yeung and Gifford, 2011). The other target audiences are the influencers and educators of potential recruits.
Attempt to reach out to parents, community leaders, social media bloggers, and education personnel such as administrators, teachers, counselors, and
coaches. I believe these target audience are an appropriate source to reach out to. Recruiters across the board say they are weathering what could be a
very challenging recruiting environment thanks to close relationships they have built not just with potential applicants, but also their parents, teachers,
coaches and community leaders who influence their decisions to join the military (Miles, 2013). The U.S. Army rarely target college students,
unemployment agencies and temporary employment agencies. This would be another one of my targets for this campaign. Most college students find
out very fast that after graduation, even with a degree, trying to find an employer willing to hire someone without having any type of experience

How Did Australia Wear Uniform In Ww1

  • 1. How Did Australia Wear Uniform In Ww1 World War I– Australia On the 4th of August 1914, Britain declared war on Germany as part of the Triple Entente with Russia and France. Australia immediately stood alongside Britain and offered them an initial amount of 20,000 men to support them, which was gratefully accepted. Australia had to make a separate force for services overseas – the force being named the Australian Imperial Force (AIF). It soon departed from Australia on the 1st of November 1914. Within this time period, there was very little time to design a distinctive uniform and insignia for the AIF. Therefore the basic uniform for the AIF wore was: A tunic worn with khaki cord breeches, also known as the 'jacket service dress' and the Commonwealth Pattern Jacket. After consultation with medical advisers, physiological advisers, and the officers of the Department of Defence it was introduced 1912. It was especially designed to be loose fitting, allow free movement of the arms, and and to allow a circulation of air for the chest or neck.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though this was later put out of use because soldier's complained it cut off their circulation in their legs and restricted their movements. Ankle high boots that were made out of tan leather. • 2. Field Training For Food Service Field training for food service is similar to street vendors in cities and towns. The "gut man" as some would call him is the morning food delivery truck that comes to your place of work and serves you up with an "eat on the go" concept. This is similar to the Army's Field Food service program. The "eat on the go" concept is a growing idea and the military is the best at making this idea a reality. In combat environments there is no time to wine and dine or even have the time to enjoy a nice meal. Therefore the focus on field training for food service is to create a program that feeds the soldier the best quality meal available any given time, any place. As a trainer of food service the words passion and love have to be involved in order to make the program a success. The headquarters for the Food Service Program in the Army is in Fort Lee Virginia. It is the home of the Quartermaster. The training facility were the soldier will partake the better part of this training is called the Joint Culinary Center of Excellence (JCCOE), and the department were they will learn about the food service in the field is called Field Operations Training Branch. The training focuses on teaching a soldier how to prepare meals in a field training exercise or in the real time of the battle field or combat. The trainers in a business environment would be considered the managers. In the planning face of training, the trainers/managers would first have to be subjected to a proper screening to ... • 3. Appearance Is a Very Important and Highly Regarded Concept... Appearance is a very important and highly regarded concept in the military. It is the staple of first impressions, the visual hand shake. A sergeant looks at his soldiers and judges their readiness for the day with how they appear. Why? Because it is a representation of honor, integrity, and duty. Asoldier who takes the time out his day to make sure he looks excellent and looks like he is a soldier shows that he is a dedicated worker and that his Non–commissioned officers do not have to waste their time with correcting his deficiencies. Aspects of appearance in the military include: looking physically healthy, If a soldier doesn't look healthy than he looks like he may not be able to perform soldiering task and the basic duties given to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the war ended, men who had served in the Pacific and Europe came home and entered the civilian workforce. They kept their habits in military hair grooming and, instead of wearing army fatigues; they wore the civilian uniform like a nice suit. During the 1950s, men didn't have much latitude in their dress or hairstyles. The clean cut style that was inspired by the military standard was the style of choice for men who conformed to society's expectations and wanted to look professional. There a variety of reasons for the United states military to impose such a strict hair standard. One practical reason for the military–style haircut is to prevent the spread of lice among the troops, who often live in close quarters, as stated before. Lice are small insects that live on the scalp or body and can be spread through close contact. By ensuring hair is kept short and clean, the military can prevent outbreaks that would be disruptive to both training exercises and missions and overall military effectiveness. Another very important reason is for safety while in garrison and in the field. Hair must be kept short and groomed while serving in the military so headgear, including helmets, communication equipment and protective masks, can be worn properly. If hair is too thick or long, ... This paper addresses the United States Air Force's annual enlisted active duty clothing allowance policy. It will advocate for swapping to a controlled, one–for–one uniform exchange program from the current individual monetary payment system. By examining current system costs, potential negative feedback from affected parties, additional options available for members to procure items, and similar systems already being utilized, a potential for cost savings becomes clear. 2. The United States Air Force has a set annual monetary clothing allowance amount that is further broken down into male and female distribution categories.1 The current amount of enlisted Air Force active duty members is... Depending on different career field types or if a person is a member of the Air National Guard, and if their state and orders status allows, they might already participate in a one–for–one uniform exchange program.9 When these individuals uniform items become unserviceable, they would have the option to return the items to the material management section responsible for reissuing serviceable uniforms. Enlisted members have the responsibility of maintaining seven complete sets of uniforms, but in the case of special purpose clothing requirements for assigned duties the organizational is responsible to ensure the member has the proper clothing.10 When examining uniform wear and tear, certain career fields are more susceptible to developing unserviceable uniforms; therefore, the individuals within those career fields have to spend more money than ones whose positions do not require them to be in such harsh working conditions.11 By going to a one–for–one uniform exchange program, individuals will only receive uniform items when those already have become unserviceable. This practice will also ensure individuals do not unnecessarily receive new uniform items every time they are set to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many people, events and situations that have taken place which have encouraged me to be successful in the Army. Professionalism In The Army Research Paper Professionalism, Stewardship, and Maintaining a Professional Appearance Professionalism is a vital character trait when it comes to being a Soldier in the United States Army. Professionalism is composed of several key characteristics when it comes to the definition of the word itself, which is "the skill, good judgement, and polite behavior that is expected from a person who is trained to do a job well," according to the Merriam–Webster dictionary. In the Army, it is expected for all soldiers to be able to competently achieve the most basic standards of self–discipline in order to display a professional appearance at all times. • 10. Equality Of Women In The Military Essay Women and men are different. This is a fact, and anyone who says otherwise is wrong. The idea of equality has twisted this very basic truth. The United States military is trying to remain in social graces, and this has brought upon a decision to make female service members dress and act more like male service members. From the time of America's first war, women have served in the U.S. military. "During the American Revolutionary War, women served the U.S. Army in traditional roles as nurses, seamstresses and cooks for troops in camp" (Women in the U.S. Army). This dedication has only increased over time. CNN reported that 203,000 women served as active duty military in the year 2011 (By the Numbers: Women in the U.S. Military). Now it has come into question if the standards display social equality for the women of the military. It is absurd as well as unnecessary to create gender neutral standards when the sexes differ so greatly. From the uniform they wear, to the duties they perform, females have proven themselves to be equal service members, deserving to stand apart from the men. Women have courageously served in the military in many ways. "During the American Revolutionary War, women served the U.S. Army in traditional roles as nurses, seamstresses and cooks for troops in camp (Women in the U.S. Army)." These jobs were needed to keep the military healthy and functional to continue the fight. These women were not sheltered from the war, and were by no means safe from harm. During the Civil War females held many of the same positions, and faced the same dangers. The only female recipient of the Medal of Honor was Dr. Mary E Walker, who was captured by Confederate forces in 1862. During peace time, the regular military was not enlisting women, but when war was declared, women became invaluable. Brigadier General Edwin H. Simmons, who served in the ... People would be wearing uniforms to show others that they are in a private school or in a particular club or event. In the 1940's when WWII started, men and women were told to wear uniforms. It was an order to have them on, it would show the citizens that they were part of a system where they need to wear their uniforms. At the time the fashion for men and women was a big change. During the war men and women had a change in clothes/uniforms. Men and women were demanded to wear different uniforms. "Women wore head scarves, turbans (which is a blanket like cloth that wraps the hair so it's safe), high heeled shoes, and kangaroo cloaks", which that is kangaroo skin coats . The ACU consists of a field jacket, trousers, headwear, a t–shirt, and footwear. The Army is about executing the mission, whether it's unloading supplies at a warehouse in Texas, or going on patrol in Iraq. The ability to execute tasks is something that must be practiced. A similar example can be found in the NFL. In NFL minicamps the players are practicing techniques, and plays every day in order to ensure they can execute when game time comes around. Uniforms were made to provide a method to identify the soldiers. The uniform helped to identify friend from foe and to identify the type of soldier and his rank within his unit. I had the privilege to deploy to a combined engineering directorate where I worked with the Army, Navy, and Air Force. We all wore the Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform and it truly felt like we were working as one team for the same mission. With service identity and morale issues aside, the bottom line is costs savings for development and production. It is estimated that the Army alone could save about $82 million if other branches would work together to develop a new camo design. Eliminating multiple uniforms across the service branches would also allow the military to shift the focus to other priorities rather than spending precious time and money on unnecessary uniform design. 5. They discovered that most animals could mix it with a natural background such as trees, leaves, and rocks, make them undetectable to other animals and humans. The military has little used at the beginning of these techniques. There are few examples of the use of camouflage in ancient and medieval warfare because camouflage was rare at that time. Salvation Army Research Paper WK6Assgn+J.N+Dimla By Joel Nchinney Dimla January 14 2018 Salvation Army The Salvation Army is a Protestant Christian movement and an international charitable organization structured in a quasi–military fashion. The organization reports a worldwide membership of over 1.5 million, consisting of soldiers, officers, and adherents known as Salvationists. Its founders Catherine and William Booth sought to bring salvation to the poor, destitute and hungry by meeting both their "physical and spiritual needs" (The Salvation Army, 2017). Salvation Army officers and soldiers often wear uniforms. The idea that they should do so originated with Elijah Cadman who, at the Salvation Army's 'War Congress' in August 1878 said: "I would like to wear a suit of clothes that would let everyone know I meant war to the teeth and salvation for the world". The reason is that high school students are still unsure what their plans are after graduation, and they are the main individuals that use social media as a key source for news and information. High school students are the majority of potential recruits that pursued additional sources of information online and were unable or unwilling to find their answers from military websites or talking with recruiters (Yeung and Gifford, 2011). The other target audiences are the influencers and educators of potential recruits. Attempt to reach out to parents, community leaders, social media bloggers, and education personnel such as administrators, teachers, counselors, and coaches. I believe these target audience are an appropriate source to reach out to. Recruiters across the board say they are weathering what could be a very challenging recruiting environment thanks to close relationships they have built not just with potential applicants, but also their parents, teachers, coaches and community leaders who influence their decisions to join the military (Miles, 2013).
