18. How my goals altered as senior
options developed
My goals altered as senior options developed because each week I was doing
something different. For the first couple of weeks I was dealing with marketing
with one of my sponsors interns, Jasmine. I thought I would never enjoy
marketing but I did and wanted to know more and build my knowledge.
19. What I would do differently next time
What I would do differently next time is express my ideas, be more
open, and interact with people in the office more.
20. What I expected going into this
experience
Going into this experience I thought I just wanted to focus on working with
Tarte’s makeup artists and do what I love, but once I got their I realized that if
I wanted to own my own cosmetics company one day than I would have to be
more hands on and deal with marketing, which I did and I found that I wanted
to learn everything that goes into making my own cosmetics company.
21. Would I recommend this experience to
others?
Yes, I would recommend this experience to others because I learned more about
myself and what my capabilities are. This experience broadened my spectrum on
my views of becoming a makeup artist and enlightened me into the business end
of owning a makeup line.
22. What I liked What I disliked
What I liked about
working as an intern at
Tarte cosmetics was
that no matter what I
was doing, I was having
fun doing it. I enjoyed
just coming into the
office every day and just
being around the
makeup environment.
What I disliked about
this experience was
that I had to commute
into New York City
each day which made
it very difficult
because it tended to
rain most of senior
options.
23. What I have gained from this
experience
I came into this experience two months ago thinking that all I wanted to
do was work in the field with Tarte’s makeup artists and learn new
tricks on how to apply makeup, but I came out wanting to know more
about marketing, packaging, and what it takes to own a makeup line.
Before I started this internship I thought that I would not enjoy working
in the office, but I soon realized that working in the office is like working
behind the scenes. Throughout the past two months I have gained so
much confidence in myself. Working at Tarte cosmetics has made me
want to own my own makeup company one day.
24. What I learned from interning at Tarte
Cosmetics
Throughout the past two months I have learned so much from interning at
Tarte cosmetics. I have learned how to do marketing, PowerPoint presentations
on products from different customer reviews, compare Tarte’s products with
competitors products, come up with names for products, find out what trends
are in, how to know what the right packaging is for products, how to transfer
lip gloss from one tube into another, what needs to be written on the back of
each product, and most importantly I have learned what it takes to own a
makeup line.
