2. TEAM FEE
Must have paid the team $30 fee
before Tuesday, September 6th. Your
team will forfeit every game until paid.
3. RULE BOOK
The activity will be governed in
accordance with the rules that are
set forth in the NIRSA Flag & Touch
Football Rule Book.
4. ELIGIBILITY
Any individual who is on a Varsity roster as of the first day
of classes, cannot compete in intramural sport competition
in that specific sport for one SCHOOL year after they are off
that sports roster at Emporia State University. (Fifth year
seniors or individuals who have expired their eligibility, are
not allowed to compete in the intramural sport in which
they were a varsity athlete).
6. FORFEITS
The teams must have at least 5 players to start the game. If no
one from your team is present at game time, it will be a
forfeit. If you have 1+ member(s) from your team you will
have 5 minutes after game time to have at least 5 players to
play.
The University Recreation Programs Department reserves the
right to remove any team from the remaining regular
schedule if a team forfeits two (2) games.
7. RULES
Games will be played in 20 minute halves with five
minutes between halves. The clock will run
continuously except for time outs and in the last
two minutes of each half.
In the last two minutes of each half games will be
played like a normal college game.
8. EJECTIONS
Any of the following may lead to ejection of a player from a game
(officials judgment):
a) Constant use of profane language.
b) Using fists, kicking, etc.
c) Tackling the ball carrier.
d) Unsportsmanlike conduct towards officials.
e) Intentional unnecessary roughness.
f) Any other deliberate or flagrant action.
9. OVERTIME
If after the regulation time the game is tied, the winner will be
decided by the following means: A coin toss will determine who will
have possession of the ball first. Each team will have four downs to
score, starting from the 20 yard line. After both teams have had a
possession, the team with the most points is declared the winner. If
the teams are still tied after the second overtime possession, the game
will result in a tie during regular season only. During playoffs overtimes
will continue until a winner is declared. One time-out will be allowed for
each team per overtime period.
10. MERCY RULE
If at any point in a game a team goes up by 40 points then
the game will be called for Mercy Rule
In the 2nd half if a team goes up by 30, the opposing team
gets the opportunity to stay alive by bringing the deficit
under 30 the following possession. If they fail to do so then
the game will be called for Mercy Rule
11. SPORTSMANSHIP RATING
IMPORTANT: All teams will start the game with a Sportsmanship Rating of a 4. A team can
only go down in sportsmanship rating.
4 - Outstanding Sportsmanship: All players cooperate fully with staff, officials and the
opposing team throughout the course of competition. Captain and team members go ‘above
and beyond’ to exhibit good sportsmanship
3- Good Sportsmanship: Team members are in control throughout the contest.
Sportsmanship and actions of team members are at acceptable levels. Team does not show
any aggressive dissent towards staff or opposing team. No sportsmanship related disciplinary
action is taken against any team member.
2 – Below Average Sportsmanship: Limited verbal dissent towards officials, staff and/or
opponents that may or may not result in a yellow card.
1 – Poor Sportsmanship: Team members continually exhibit dissent towards officials, staff
and/or opponents either on or off the playing field/court and/or sidelines. The team captain
shows little control over the actions of his/her teammates or him/herself.
0 – Unacceptable Sportsmanship: The team is completely uncooperative, out of control or
shows no respect for staff and/or opponents. The team captain shows no control over the
actions of his/her teammates or him/herself. The captain of the team must also meet with the
Assistant Director before the next contest and the team may face disqualification from the
remainder of the season.
12. PLAYOFF SPORTSMANSHIP
Playoff Eligibility-
A team must have a minimum cumulative 3 Sportsmanship Rating during
the regular season to be eligible for the playoffs.
Playoff Tournament Sportsmanship-
Any team receiving a 2 rating during playoffs/tournaments that wins a
game must meet with the Assistant Director prior to their next game.
Failure to do so will lead to their dismissal from the playoffs/tournament.
Any team receiving a 1 rating for a playoff/tournament game will be
eliminated from competition. NOTE: This means ANY ejection means the
game is over and the team with the ejected player loses regardless of the
score at the time of the ejection. If any ejection occurs after or before the
game is played, it is still treated in the same manner.
