Gallery Walk Critique slide show with directions for students step-by-step to have a successful, full participation critique of artworks. Used with high school students, but could be used with almost all ages.
2. Gallery Walk Critique Instructions:
1. Write a Quality Focus Question (examples on
next slide) at the top of your sketchbook page
that you want feedback on from your peers
and instructor.
3. Quality Focus Questions - what do you want feedback on?
● What do you think is the message of my piece?
● What does the symbolism say about me?
● What do you feel is the biggest strength in my composition?
● How could I use my negative space differently?
● What do you think I can improve most for next time?
● What ideas or feedback do you have for me?
● Etc.
4.
5. Reminders:
● Constructive criticism and feedback ONLY
○ The goal is to make each other better, not to make people feel bad.
○ You are not out to insult each other.
○ You are not to make hurtful remarks or write anything off topic.
● If an artwork is obviously unfinished, do NOT write “Finish it” as your
feedback. Find something that WAS done to give feedback on.
6. You will have approximately 10 minutes to walk
around and leave anonymous feedback on
EVERY artwork in the room. We will discuss
them afterwards.
