Αποτελεί μέθοδο αγενούς πολλαπλασιασμού
κατά την οποία ενώνεται τμήμα φυτού που
ονομάζεται εμβόλιο , με τμήμα φυτού
(μόσχευμα) ή με ολόκληρο φυτό (πρέμνο)
που ονομάζεται υποκείμενο.
Από το εμβόλιο προέρχεται η κόμη του φυτού
και από το υποκείμενο προέρχεται το ριζικό
σύστημα. Το τρίτο μέρος του νέου φυτού
είναι η ζώνη ένωσης εμβολίου –υποκειμένου.
