1. Rubric for Sight Reading
Consider the following skills when assigning a score: Sight Reading-500 points
 Rhythm & Tempo
1. Student performs with many rhythmic and timing problems. 0-50 points
2. Student performs with several tempo and/or rhythmic problems. 51-100 points
3. Student plays with tempo stability and rhythmic accuracy most of 101-150 points
the performance.
4. Student performs with few or no inconsistencies in rhythm or 151-200 points
tempo.
 Correct Pitches
1. Student has problems throughout with correct pitches. 0-50 points
2. Student’s performance has several pitch problems. 51-100 points
3. Student performs with few pitch problems. 101-150 points
4. Student plays correct pitches throughout the performance. 151-200 points
 Musicality
1. Student performs with little or no understanding of articulation, 0-25 points
phrasing, dynamics, and expression.
2. Student performs with several mistakes in musicality. 26-50 points
3. Student performs many of the musical devices correctly. 51-75 points
4. Student plays with few or no expressive problems. 76-100 points
