7. Putting it all together – including: wading, engines, etc.
8. Launching/SafetyAlso, this podcast will give the students an idea of what is going to happen before they start this project. My goal is the get the students excited and ready to start building! That is why; I want to show them the launching of the rocket (what they will get to do themselves at the end). Even though this project might seem to be a lot of work, in the end, the student will have a blast, launching it off and watching it soar high into the clouds!
These podcasts are great for teachers, students and parents. They are helpful for teachers because, if a student is absent or needs help and you are not able to provide it; you can refer the student back to this podcast (which will give explicit instructions on how to complete what they are interested in). It is helpful for the students for the same reason. Too many students are absent so frequently, that it is hard to catch them up when they get back to class. These podcasts will give them an opportunity to stay with the class, even when they are absent. If they choose not to watch up on it, then they deserve to not get the opportunity to continue to build the project or to have it built for them. Finally, it is very good for the parents. Students at this age are not very inclined to talking with the parents about what they did in school that day. Usually, when that question is posed, they try to just ignore it and walk away. These podcasts will give the parents an opportunity to see what their child is doing in technology class. Also, it will allow them to see their child’s final project, especially if it does not return after the launch!
