2. What is a pattern?
The artist who drew the picture below used
curving lines side by side to make a pattern.
We call this a random pattern in art. All of the
lines are not exactly in a row or exactly alike,
but it still makes a pattern.
3. Get Started with Some
Practice
Get a pencil, a pen, a crayon or a marker or
all of the above to draw with.
Find a piece of paper. It should not be too
big. I used half a sheet of copy paper, but
you can use a part of a paper bag (great to
use crayons on).
Use the pencil, pen, marker or crayon to
divide a piece of paper into several parts. It
doesn’t have to look just like mine.
4. Can you make more
patterns than me?
Start to fill with patterns. If you
get tired in one section move to
another.
You may not get completely
done today. Try to get about
halfway done. Put it somewhere
safe and take the short quiz.
Can you come up with at least 5
different patterns today?
