Criteria for awarding an additional
or discretionary increment
is a salary
scale with regular annual salary
increase.
 A regular increment is given on completion
of each year’s service.
To retain some elements of
discretion, double or triple increments can be
provided for within a scheme or, indeed, no
increment.
