Spelling Words of the Week
Each week in the newsletter, I will be
putting the hardest words from the
upcoming weeks spelling list. My
hope is that you, as parents, will be
practicing these words with your kids
all week long, so that they can be as
prepared as possible. The kids who
tend to do the worst on the spelling
tests do not start studying until the
night before the test. One good way
to study with your children is by
reviewing in the car on the way to
and from school. I wish you and your
children the best of luck!

Classroom Technology Rules
As the media begins to play more
of an important role in our society,
I have found it necessary to make
some technology rules for our
classroom. I hope all of you will
help me make sure your children
are following these rules to the
best of their ability.
-Phones are not allowed to be used
during school hours (from 8 am
until 3 pm).
-All Gameboys, such as Nintendo
DS’s, should not be brought to
school.
-It is not necessary to bring
computers to school since each
classroom will provide them to the
students.
-Ipad’s are allowed, but they are
not a required for the class.
2. Upcoming Field Trip Notice
Our class will be taking an educational field trip on
September 27th to the Children’s Museum. The bus will
leave at 8:45 am and get back at 2:45 pm. The Children’s
Museum is a hands-on experience in which the children
will have the opportunity to participate in cross-cultural
learning of several subject areas, such as math, science,
social studies, language arts, geography, and art. The
children will learn how to pick the right tools to measure
the length of objects, use different units to measure the
same object twice, and estimate lengths using these
different units of measurement. The children will also
learn how to obtain, evaluate, and communicate
information about the properties of matter as well as
the effect of force in the movement of an object. Lastly,
the children will learn how to apply grade level phonics,
use information gathered from illustrations, and answer
questions such as who, what, when, where, and why.
Please be warned that the permission slips are due by
September 24th. If your child is unable to attend, they
will stay at school and do worksheets that will teach
them similar concepts. In order to turn in the permission
slip please fill out the bottom half of this page, cut it off,
and have your child turn it in to me at school.
