I.Dow Chemical Company– A global #2 chemical company (1999-2011), 12 years from TS&D in ITE

II.Advantek Taiwan Inc.-Global leading Carrier tape manufacturer in electronic package (2011.03-2012.12)
As a Global Engineering Director took care the production engineer team in Taiwan, China and Philippine.

I.Plastic material, has over 18 years material modification, development experience covered IR-PC,
IR-PC/GF, IR-PC/ABS, ABS, HIPS, Nylon 6, Nylon 66 W/Wo GF, PBT, IR-PET, IR-PET/GF, PP, PP+ fillers,

recipe for one step extrusion thermoforming for PS carrier tape.
-In AVCT (1997-1999), conducted hard coating pretreatment on plastic substrates as PC, PET sheet
before sputtering coating for optical AR application as screen filter.
-In Dorel (2013-2015), led the EVA foaming factory for EVA foaming wheel using for Juvenile stroller
product.

development product for new market with market leading customer
I. Global project leveraged in Pacific Market, involved deeply in Global R&D network as a technical partner
in Dow Chemical in 2006-2008 to leverage global efforts in Pacific market.

China in 2006-2009 in Dow Chemical. Levered their R&D capability, market knowledge with Dow global

Implemented 5 external collaboration projects with Jia-Tong, Qingdao, Si-Chuan and Science & technology

I.Advantek Taiwan Inc.-As a Global Engineering Director led 4 teams(1)Sustaining team in Taiwan,
Shanghai and Philippine 3 territories for production support, (2)CIP team for existing products modification,

7. R&D capability
I.taken the NPV model to evaluate the project contribution preliminarily and screened out/prioritized the
most valuable projects for implementation in Dow Chemical. Over 5 successful projects leading and
implementation of IR-PC/ABS in monitor housing, IR-PC and IR-PC/GF in BLU market from 2001-2007
and those products gathered over $50MMUS revenue in total among 2004-2007.
II. A differentiated non burn mark high reflective IR-PC product develped in notebook BLU market to
secure Dow leading position with high margins in market. Got a Science & Technology Award in Dow
Europe /Pacific in 2006.
8. Production order in time delivery and cost control in production
I.Manges the 5M1E and standardize the production cycle time to meet the order deliver plan with planner.
II.Manges the material loss, yield rate, production cost, material recycle, machine down time and control
expense to have a molding shop in good profit.
9. Experience with global OEM maker
I.Joined Dow-Apple annual global material meeting in Cupertino for new material requirement
discussion.
II.Works with car seat global car seat makers-Britax, Recaro and MO, takes PFMEA/PPAP for new product
implementation, understand the product requirement & procedure from OEM and have APQP for molded

1. Always takes the outside box thinking to seek the product performance niche, find out the potential value from
different standpoint in application.

1. Since 2013.08~now.Dorel (Zhonshan)Juvenile China Co.,LTD.
Dorel Juvenile Global No. 1 juvenile products maker on car seat, stroller and walker)
Position: Director of Plastic Department
a. Manages 2 molding factories, 1 tool department and 1 compounding department, revenue is over 30MMUS/y.
Major responsibilities lead the injection molding department, EVA forming wheel department and tool making
department in plastic component part molding. EVA wheel making supply the assembly department of juvenile
product. Whole plastic department has around 450 people and 4 people direct report to me.
b. Managing 4 departments revenue, daily output, efficiency, production cost control, yield loss reduction, DIT &,
lead-time monitoring and report to VP.
c. Works with car seat OEM makers as Britax, Dorel, Recaro, MO and KC to monitor the PPAP , CPk in new
production and SPC for production stability and quality control. Product standard production time and P-BOM
are used to reinforce the production agenda accuracy, production efficiency and reduce the production loss.
2. 2011.03~2012.12 :Advantek Taiwan Inc.(Global leading Carrier tape manufacturer in electronic package)
Position: Global Engineering Director
a. Major responsibilities led the global engineering department including 4 teams(1)Sustaining team in Taiwan,
Shanghai and Philippine 3 territories for production support, (2)CIP team for existing products modification, yield
rate improvement (3)NPD team for new product, new process exploration/ development( R&D function) and
(4)Material science lab for product/material analysis and product qualification. Whole Engineering team has 40
people locating in three different sites.
b. Reported to Advantek president, formulated global technology plan, managed the EN department headcount
and resource plan, annual budget plan and people performance review.
c. Combining different industry field learning in material, corrected “critical issues” of a two years delayed project
in 3 months. Projects was commercialized in 6 months, revenue was zero in 2011, achieved $1 MM US in 20l3.
d. Considering the fierce price competition from local players, formulated 2012 technology plan for Advantek to
forward integration from a sheet user to become a sheet maker, material compounder in 2013. New technology
plan aim to secure the own material supply, own sheet making, enlarge technology gap from competitors,
secure the product margins and expand the market share, revenue in coming year. Whole plan is in realizing
step by step in 2H of 2013 through 1H of 2014. Foresee the about $0.5MMUS saving from raw materials in
2014 and reaches to $2MMUS saving in 2015.
3. Experiences in Styron and Dow Chemical from 1999 to 2011(12 years)-separated in 3 portions.
Portion I: As a R&D specialist for C&B business (from 2009 to 2011.03) In Styron (Spin off from Dow Chemical)
a. Coordinated the C&B technology plan to dirve EMERGE grade in high premium product development. A product
map formulated in high flow/good surface gloss/well thermal stability/chemical resistance to meet niche
market in slimmer design trend in ITE market and higher entry barrier with followers to secure the margins and
business value. Couple grades had commercialized; keep delivering the good revenue in Styron now.
b. Joined development with local PC film leading player in a differentiated new IR-PC film, IR-PC sheet market in
electronic components insulation market, which had two fold higher margins than general injection molding resin in
ITE and CE market. For 2 years, three products had been commercialized and delivered $1MMUS revenue and
$0.3MMUS EBIT in 2009-2010.
Portion II: As a Technical partner for Pacific TS&D manager in Elastomer and C&B business (from 2006-2008) in
Dow Chemical
a. Was a technical partner of TS&D people manager of C&B, Elastomer department in Pacific and worked with key
customers closely to collect the market information, industry trend and customer requirement in Pacific Asia for
global R&D in market strategy,
b. Hejped in high TiO2 EMERGE grade improvement project to solve the black spec and flow/toughness
inconsistency issue and help Dow secure the Apple project successfully to meet Apple requirement. Involved in
Apple projects to support the material quality issue, process trouble shooting and joined the Apple-Dow meeting
in Cupertino couple times.
c. Collaborated the local research center/University capability in G-china with Global R&D efforts to secure new
products development timing in local market and speed up the project evaluation/qualification for new market
possibility in Pacific. Led 5 external collaboration projects with local research center or University (Jia-Tong,
Qingdao, Si-Chuan and Science & technology University in China) in raw material synthesis, new product
development and significantly delivered 12 internal research reports written, 6 research articles published with
University and 2 patents filed.
Portion III: As a senior TS&D (Technical Service & Development) Engineer from 1999-2006 in Dow Chemical
a. Senior TS&D, as a technical frontier and market frontier in customer site to provide adequate technical support
tool design suggestion in processing, trouble shooting and to penetrate in market, secure Dow product leading
position in customer.
b. Led the Back Light Unit (BLU) frame products development (expanded to 6 products) and market penetration for
LCD display panel makers –AUO, Chi-Mei, CPT in Taiwan and LG Electronics in Korea, had Dow become a
market leader in BLU in Pacific. With right differentiating product developed, had grown the BLU business
revenue sharply from $ 1.0 MMUS in 2003 to $ 35MMUS in 2006.
c. Taking the out box thinking in product development to innovative product, defense the low price local player
market corrosion. Developed a non burn mark, hot runner molding IR-PC grade in high reflective notebook/ LCD
TV frame for customer which benefited with much cost saving in processing, grasped most of white color BLU
frame market in 2005-2006. This differentiated BLU product technology secure Dow leading position with
high margins in market and got a Science & Technology Award in Dow Europe /Pacific in 2006.
d. Among 2001-2006 period, 3 products modification finished and 3 new products commercialized (IR-PC,
IR-PC/GF, and IR-PC/ABS), the overall contribution in business revenue was over $50MMUS in total in
2005-2006.
4. 1997~1999: Applied Vacuum Coating Technology (AVCT) Co., Ltd (Vacuum sputtering devices and product maker
in Taiwan)(2 years)
a. As a manager of plastic substrate pre-treatment section built a surface treatment line and hard coating facility for
plastic substrate (low shrinkage BO-PET, PETG, PMMA). Those treated substrate got a better metal oxide
adhesion/ lower moisture in vacuum system in sputtering coating. Products apply in anti-reflection (AR) coating
(metal oxide) or ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) for LCD Display or touch panel applications.
b. Two kinds of plastic substrate (BO-PET, PMMA) were commercialized through plasma treatment, hard coating for
AR products in AVCT.
c. Formulated coating solvent with photo initiator, different acrylic cross linker, filler, stabilizer and adequate solvent
system to develop AVCT owned UV hard coating formulation and adapt the coated surface character/shrinkage in
bonding strength improvement in sputtering coating.
d. While coating material development, had the knowledge the relation of solvent effect upon the material itself,
stress and coating strength!
5.1993~1997: Plastic Industry Technical Development (PIDC) in Taiwan (Belong to Taiwan Industry bureau under
Economic Association of Government) (5 years)
a. As a leader of extrusion blow molding department in PIDC- functional as a government technology development
center in plastics industry to help the small & medium size companies in new product development, existing
product & manufacturing process upgrade in Taiwan.
b. Delivered a Rubber/carbon black vulcanization project for Butyl Rubber (BR) project with kneader/3
rollers calendar in electronic component applications.
c. Two coating projects implemented in PIDC.
-Modified the thermal cured hard coating material to correct the rainbow effect for PC hard coating substrate.
-Studied the coating formulation with adequate solvent to improve the leveling, bubbling, screen mesh blocking,
and extend the material shelf life time in screen printing.
d. With good customer intimacy, understood customer manufacturing process, capability and limitation to complete
the 11 joint-development projects for Taiwan government, contributed around $19MMNT match-fund for PIDC.
6.1991~1993: Formosa Plastic Co. In Taiwan (For engineering plastics compounding)(2 years)
a. As a quality engineer in Engineering Plastics Technical Center of Formosa Plastic (Nan Ya)Co., who was first
introduced Engineering plastics compound for flame retarded, impact modified, glass fiber reinforced grades of
PBT, PC, PC/ABS, PET, Nylon 6, Nylon 66 in Taiwan.
b.Practically handled the plastics properties test of tensile, flexural, elongation, Izod impact, Melt flow rate(MFR),
UL-94, HDT, Surface resistance, Arc test, Creep, Fatigue, color meter and aging test.
Took charge ISO regulation and quality test devices maintenance, calibration.
c. Responsible for PBT polymerization plant raw material IQC and PBT resin R.V test for polymerization rate
checking.
d. Material characterizing instruments operation- DSC, TGA, FTIR, X-Ray, SEM, Carl Fisher moisture testing of
PET and titration for bromide content analysis for flame retardant additives.
e. Quality management system/Quality engineering tool implementation of FAE, DOE, IPQC and COA for raw
material and finish products in production. Managed the local vendor audit, internal audit for ROHS and
ISO9001.

As a manager of plastic substrate pre-treatment section built a surface treatment line and hard coating facility for plastic substrate (low shrinkage BO-PET, PETG, PMMA). Those treated substrate got a better metal oxide adhesion/ lower moisture in vacuum system in sputtering coating. Products apply in anti-reflection (AR) coating (metal oxide) or ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) for LCD Display or touch panel applications. b. While coating material development, had the knowledge the relation of solvent effect upon the material itself, stress and coating strength! 5.1993~1997: Plastic Industry Technical Development (PIDC) in Taiwan (Belong to Taiwan Industry bureau under Economic Association of Government) (5 years) a. As a leader of extrusion blow molding department in PIDC- functional as a government technology development center in plastics industry to help the small & medium size companies in new product development, existing product & manufacturing process upgrade in Taiwan. b. Delivered a Rubber/carbon black vulcanization project for Butyl Rubber (BR) project with kneader/3 rollers calendar in electronic component applications. c. Two coating projects implemented in PIDC. -Modified the thermal cured hard coating material to correct the rainbow effect for PC hard coating substrate. -Studied the coating formulation with adequate solvent to improve the leveling, bubbling, screen mesh blocking, and extend the material shelf life time in screen printing. d. As a quality engineer in Engineering Plastics Technical Center of Formosa Plastic (Nan Ya)Co., who was first introduced Engineering plastics compound for flame retarded, impact modified, glass fiber reinforced grades of PBT, PC, PC/ABS, PET, Nylon 6, Nylon 66 in Taiwan. b.Practically handled the plastics properties test of tensile, flexural, elongation, Izod impact, Melt flow rate(MFR), UL-94, HDT, Surface resistance, Arc test, Creep, Fatigue, color meter and aging test. Took charge ISO regulation and quality test devices maintenance, calibration. c. Responsible for PBT polymerization plant raw material IQC and PBT resin R.V test for polymerization rate checking. d.
