DLL Session: _____________
Date:________________
I. Objectives
At the end of the session, learner are expected to:
1. Analyze Drawing symbols and signs
2. Identify Drawing symbols and signs
3. Draw symbols and signs
A. Content Standard Drawing Symbols and Signs
B. Performance Standards
1.Technical plans are obtained according to job
requirements
2. Signs, symbols and data are identified according
to job specifications
3. Signs symbols and data are determined according
to classification or as appropriate in drawing
C. Learning
Competencies/ Objectives
(write the LC Code for each)
LO 1. Analyze signs, symbols and data
CON311202
Interpret Technical Drawings and Plans
2. II. Content Drawing Symbols and Signs (Alphabet of Lines)
III. Learning Resources
Performing Mensuration and Calculations,
Drafting Technology (Volume 1),
Competency-Based Learning Materials for Second Year.
Competency-Based Learning Materials for Third Year (Module 1:
Drafting Architectural Layout and Detail)
Training Regulations for Technical Drafting NC II, TESDA

Competency-Based Curriculum and Self-Assessment Guides for
Technical Drafting NC II (TESDA)
IV. Procedures
A. Reviewing previous
lesson or presenting
new lesson
During the past lesson, the need to switch between two systems of
measurement was discussed. The conversion of measurements
according to the norms of measurement from one particular group of
individuals in in a specific group prefers to use a one unified system
(either English or SI) that to be able to be interpreted in another set
of people in a different realm conversion is used.
B. Presenting examples/
instances of new lesson
A new machine, structure, or systemmust exist in the mind of the
designer before it can become a reality. The original concept or idea
is usually placed in paper or as an image on a computer screen and is
communicated to others effectively by the precise weight and
representation required for a drawing to be interpreted in a way as
exact as what the drafter intended.
C. Discussing new concepts
and practicing new
skills. #1
Alphabet of Lines?
Factors that ensure the clarity of the communication between two
technical people.
The tools and instruments in rendering the lines.
3. D. Discussing new concepts
and practicing new
skills. #2
What is the "Alphabet of Lines"? What does it contribute to the
overall drawing in terms of communication?
In the process of rendering each line, in what manner it is affected by
the correct of faulty use of instruments and tools?
Can you enumerate the essential tools and equipment in rendering or
representation of the lines or the whole idea embodied in a drawing?
E. Developing mastery
As a sort of refresher (since the topic has been discussed in the
exploratory course) the students were given a specific lines
assignment and in the given working drawing they were tasked to
point the specific area where the line is to be properly used.
F. Finding practical
application of skills in
daily living (leads to
Formative Assessment)
Reinforced that the concepts contained are the basis if all technical
drawings both in architecture and engineering.
G. Making generalization
and abstraction about
the lesson
The students defined the following word according to what they are
capable of expressing in words the meaning of the lines that are as
follows:
Visible or Object Line
Hidden Line
Section Line
Center Line
Dimension Line
Extension Line
Leader Line
Cutting-Plane or Viewing-Plane Line
Short-Break Line
Long-Break Line
Phantom Line
Stitch Line
Chain Line
Ditto Line
H. Evaluating learning 10 item quiz.
4. V. Remarks
The students asked some questions about the precise use of certain
lines as also used in other technical fields related to drawing and
drafting. Most particularly about the hidden and the ditto line.
VI. Reflection
A. No. of learners who earned
80% on the formative
assessment
32 out of 35
B. No. of learners who require
additional activities for
remediation
3 out of 35
C. Did the remedial lesson
work? No. of learners who
have caught up with the
lesson.
There were certain confusion as to the use of Ditto Line and the
Hidden Line. Additional illustrations were given visually to reinforce
this area.
D. No. of learners who
continue to require
3 out of 35
