MSc Thesis –
A NOVEL SINGLE STAGE INVERTER TOPOLOGY
A single stage single phase inverter configuration is proposed, which employs five semiconductor switches, in
which one operates at high frequency and the rests operate at the fundamental frequency of the output
The inverter is capable of both stepping up and stepping down the voltage and designed such a way that the
required link capacitance is very low
Because of low capacitance instead of using a electrolytic capacitor, a film capacitor is used
In the proposed inverter a high frequency transformer (HFT) can be used for providing galvanic isolation
The proposed inverter is modified slightly to offer soft-switching benefits, which significantly increases the
efficiency
