2. The edge
The edge was an action/thriller
• www
Where the credits were placed worked extremely well, also included a
excellent range and variety of shots. the background music worked
amazingly well with the actions both working well together.
•
EBI
A voiceover probably would’ve worked better and also a more varied
setting. Also if the jump cuts matched the beats it would’ve created a
more intense scene.
3. Karma
•
Genre – drama
• www
Clear, basic and Suitable camera shots and editing.
• EBI
The plot was extremely difficult to understand so a better and more
clear plot would’ve been crucial. the editing needed more work. The
music didn’t match the scene at all so they would’ve picked a more
suitable track.
4. Roses are red
•
•
Genre – Rom com
www
In my opinion the creativity and imagination used in this piece worked extremely well and
was very interesting. it clearly showed the audience a clear view of the genre by the
colours used and the way the scene was set up. Also the music used showed the
genre, the shot types used were satisfactory.
EBI
I think that if they had used a tripod it would’ve made this look much more professional
and more realistic.
5. Deception
•
Genre – film noir
www
The editing used was good, like the way they used flickering and the monotone
effect. the editing of sound was alright and a variety of props and location
used.
EBI
I think that the music was way too loud which creates an overpowering feeling
for the audience where they cant even focus on what they see but what they
hear, if they lowered the volume of the sound then it would’ve been better.
also items that are not necessary in the background don’t need to be there.
6. Made man
•
Genre – British mob
www
The way the voiceover was used was good and the editing was aright, good use of
variety when it came to camera shots and movements. The background music fit well
with the scene.
EBI
I think this would’ve worked better if they edited it a bit more and the actors made sure
they had loud and clearer voices.
7. Born from the streets
• Genre – British gangster
• www
The choice of music was good, also a great variety of camera movement. a
good variation of settings, this reflected well upon the title and genre.
EBI
I don’t think that the plot was clear enough, it could’ve easily confused the
audience so I think the plot should’ve been more clear. I think if a voiceover
was used it would’ve created a more effective scene.
8. How will this analysis help me with
planning my opening?
I think by analysing others people work it
can help me by giving me some inspiration
for example I can take some of the good
points. Also I can avoid their bad points
like not using a tripod or trying to make it
more realistic, also using an appropriate
tone of sound in the background to create
a more effective opening scene. This
helped me because it shows me what to
avoid and what can help me.
