2. Costume ideas
I really like this style for male
artists. I will use conventional
‘indie’ style clothing such as black
skinny jeans and white t-shirts to
reflect the ‘indie’ part of the indie
pop genre my song is from.
3. This is inspiration for my
costume for the ‘girly girl’
character I will be having in my
video. Pink, denim shorts and
dresses are common features
of a girly girls wardrobe so I will
be incorporating these into my
video.
4. Another character featuring in
my video is a ‘geek’. These are
all stereotypical images of a
geeky girl that people have and
therefore I will dress my actress
like this. Things that I definitely
need to include are a bow tie,
square framed glasses and a
blazer of some kind.
5. A further character in my video
is a sporty girl. It is common for
girls associated with sport to
wear things like vests and
tracksuit bottoms. Obviously it
is conventional for women in
music videos to be attractive so
shorts and vests are what my
actress will be wearing.
6. The final character in my video is a Goth. Goths are
known for wearing lots of black. Knee high socks
and black dresses are common Gothic costumes so
my Goth character will be wearing this.
7. Hair and makeup ideas
The most important makeup style in my
video is gothic makeup as dark gothic
makeup defines the Goth ‘style’. The other
girls will all have similar girly style makeup.
8. Setting ideas
I like the look of having the band on a white
background, I think this gives the idea of a live
performance but at the same time makes the
video more personal. It also draws more attention
to the band rather than what is going on in the
background.
I will use a brick wall background in my video. The
reason behind this is because my video is very
centered around teenage years and teenagers are
stereotypically hanging around outside causing
havoc and I think a brick wall accurately shows
this.
9. Lighting
I will be using 3 point lighting in my video
when filming inside. 3 point lighting
creates a much more 3d image and looks
much better than just having lights at the
front of the person which makes them look
2 dimensional and not very realistic.
When filming outdoors I will be using the
natural lighting provided to create a
verisimilitude so it looks like it was actually
filmed outside.
10. Editing
Split screen will be used heavily in my video
as I believe it keeps the video interesting as
there are lots of different images on one
shot. Also, due to the fact that I have a
variety of characters in my video, using split
screen will help me to introduce them to the
audience.
