Just a half page response to this discussion, no reference needed... I cared for a young patient around 40 years old who had end stage liver failure due to non-compliance, he was scheduled for a ct-scan , we chatted on the way to the exam room. He barely mentioned his medical conditions , we spoke of a great place to take a vacation , he had families in the west indies , we spoke about how beautiful and fun the island can be , I kept him talking while waiting for the exam , we spoke of island music and his favorite band. He promised that we were going on a trip to the island once he is cured . the conversation ended because he had to take the ct-exam , I returned him to the med-surg floor. On my next day at work , he was sent to the hospice . That news shook my sentiment because I felt really bad knowing the doctor could do anything to save the patient's life . i wanted to go see him to continue chatting with him, specially we spoke the same dialect but i was not allowed into the facility because the Hospice was contracted by any company within the facility. I never met the families but I wished I was able to go visit him at the hospice. I observe loneliness in him and I would up his spirit with good conversation since he loves talking about the old days on the island . He died that same week at the hospice , he did receive quality care from the hospice , his family was around most of the time , he was conscious and was able to voice his wishes . (rose) ...

Bronx and five other puppies were rescued from neglectful conditions in February 2011 at 6 weeks old. They were diagnosed with parvo virus and received treatment, but two sisters passed away from the disease. Bronx responded well to treatment and was eventually adopted by the author. However, at 13 months old Bronx was diagnosed with renal failure. He received homeopathic treatment for 7 more months but his health declined. In November 2012, the author sadly had to euthanize Bronx as his body was shutting down. The author takes comfort that Bronx taught them important life lessons about strength, optimism, and helping other animals in need.

This is the second of two (2) position papers based on the following scenario to be completed in this course.
Imagine that you are running for a state office (e.g., governor, senator, or representative) and you have to prepare a position paper for a debate on controversial issues in the news. (Select one (1) of the topics addressed in Weeks 5-9 of this class.) You will want your position paper to demonstrate critical thinking, sound logic, valid claims, personal passion, and credible support that is cited correctly because the paper will be provided to the news media before the debate and will be scrutinized by the media and reported on regarding these criteria. Your professor will serve as your close advisor whose job is to review the paper and provide feedback to you on the paper’s strengths and weaknesses.

Introduce your position using a thesis statement in the first paragraph, including a quote, question, or statistic from your reliable sources and an overview of the main points you will cover. (It’s important to grab the audience’s interest and inform them of what the main and support points are.)

I cared for a young patient around 40 years old who had end stage liver failure due to non-compliance, he was scheduled for a ct-scan , we chatted on the way to the exam room. He barely mentioned his medical conditions , we spoke of a great place to take a vacation , he had families in the west indies , we spoke about how beautiful and fun the island can be , I kept him talking while waiting for the exam , we spoke of island music and his favorite band. He promised that we were going on a trip to the island once he is cured . the conversation ended because he had to take the ct-exam , I returned him to the med-surg floor. On my next day at work , he was sent to the hospice . That news shook my sentiment because I felt really bad knowing the doctor could do anything to save the patient's life . i wanted to go see him to continue chatting with him, specially we spoke the same dialect but i was not allowed into the facility because the Hospice was contracted by any company within the facility. I never met the families but I wished I was able to go visit him at the hospice. I observe loneliness in him and I would up his spirit with good conversation since he loves talking about the old days on the island . He died that same week at the hospice , he did receive quality care from the hospice , his family was around most of the time , he was conscious and was able to voice his wishes . (rose)
