A lot of you think that duck shooting should not be allowed all because of one reason,
animal cruelty.
But duck shooting is a culture of its own and there are so many rules to keep the ducks
from dying out. People that are against duck shooting are destroying the sport because of
the ducks. But what they do not know is that there are counts each year to see how many
ducks are in the area and so they can modify the rules to how many ducks Can be shot
( daily bag limits ) Duck shooting is not only a fun thing to do but it is also educational and
you can see a lot of other types of birds that some people in New Zealand have never
seen in there life's, like bitterns and kotukus. It also teaches you about how birds live and
were they live. You can also learn a lot more about trees, types of trees and how trees
grow.
It is a fun sport that so many people enjoy and so many people would love to do but at the
rate it's going some people will never be able to even try it, all because of people
protesting and trying to ban it. People that don't like it are killing the sport and that is
ruining kids dreams to go shooting. Imagine if your passion was skating and all you
wanted to do is skate, but people were complaining and the government was listening to
them and slowly after years you were only allowed to skate in certain places. And
eventually you weren't allowed to at all, and every kid that skated it was there dream to
be a famous skater but because of protesters there dream was crushed and that's how we
feel and so many other kids will feel if you keep protesting.
Duck shooting is one of the oldest ways to get very healthy food. You can have ducks
made into sausages, salami and smoked duck. It is a great way to hone your skills that
you need in every day life such as patients, quietness, water safety and responsibility.
Gun safety is a huge part of any type of shooting no matter what type of gun. Before
anyone can go out around guns they must learn all the rules to make sure they will be safe
and anyone they go with will be safe.
Duck shooters are the biggest conservationists. We create and restore more wetlands and
habitat for ducks than any one else in the country. Thanks to duck shooters ducks and
other wetland animals have a safer habitat where they can be out of sight of there
predators and are able to breed.
Duck shooting is a great way to meet new friends and socialize. You can meet a hunter in
any place in the world and you have something in common to talk about.
So before you get ready to go protesting on opening morning think of all the kids that have
never felt what duck shooting is like and there first time going they have to wait and be
held up. And Even after the duck shooting season has finished there are thousands of
ducks left so don't worry about them.
