3. What is evangelism
• Evangelism is the announcement,
proclamation, and/or preaching of the
gospel, the good news about Jesus Christ.

• Biblical evangelism begins with alerting
the world of their problem with sin!

freely by his grace through the redemption

• The gospel is a communicated message of peace,
hope and love.
• Peace knowing that your sins are forgiven upon
obedience to the gospel message and that He will
never leave nor forsake you.
• Hope---A confident expectation of heaven because
of His love
• Love—sending His Son to shed His blood for the
forgiveness of sins!

• Evangelism, the communication of the
gospel message, includes a warning, an
explanation, and a call.
• John 16:8 And he, when he is come, will
convict the world of sin, and of
righteousness, and of judgmentof judgment:

7. Explanation
• Acts 24:25 And as he reasonedreasoned of
righteousness, and self-control, and the
judgment to come, Felix was terrified, and
answered, Go thy way for this time; and when
I have a convenient season, I will call thee
unto me.

8. Evangelism defined
• The English word “evangelism” comes from the
Greek word euaggelion. Most literally translated in
the noun form, euaggelion means: “gospel” or “good
news.” In the verb form (euaggelizesthai), the
meaning of the word changes slightly to “announce”
or “bring good news.”
• The Greek word in its various forms appears fifty-
five times in the New Testament. In addition to the
before-mentioned translations, the Greek word is
also translated as “preach.”

• Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord,
saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go
for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
• This must be our attitude in regards to
evangelism!

• Matthew 26:39 And he went a little farther,
and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my
Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from
me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you
will.

11. The need to GO!
• Isaiah 50:4 The Lord GOD has given me the
tongue of the learned, that I should know how
to speak a word in season to him that isword in season to him that is
weary:weary: he awakens morning by morning, he
awakens my ear to hear as the learned.
• Isaiah 50:5 The Lord GOD has opened my
ear, and I was not rebelliousI was not rebellious, neither turned
backward.

12. What if we don’t go?
Darkness, blindness, Spiritual death!
• Matthew 4:15 The land of Zabulon, and the
land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea,
beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
• Matthew 4:16 The people which sat in
darkness saw great light; and to them which
sat in the region and shadow of death light is
sprung up.

13. What if we don’t go?
Darkness, blindness, Spiritual death!
• Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man,
having put his hand to the plow, and looking
back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
• We must be focused on building the kingdom
because our mission is to seek and save that
which is lost!
• Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to
seek and to save that which was lost.

Eternity, JudgmentEternity, Judgment
• Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men
once to die, but after this the judgment:
• Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to
bear the sins of many; and unto them that look
for him shall he appear the second time without
sin unto salvation.

15. The need to “GO”--reinforce
• Acts 5:20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the
people all the words of this life.
• 2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that you have heard
of me among many witnesses, the same commit to
faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
• 2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be diligent in
season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with
all longsuffering and doctrine.

16. Holy Living
• Luke 20:38 For he is not a God of the dead,
but of the living: for all live unto him.
• Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon you also
yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive
unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
• Romans 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto
the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the
Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are
the Lord's.

17. Holy Living
• Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, and
the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off
the works of darkness, and let us put on
the armor of light.
• What are works of darkness???

18. Works of the flesh!
• Galatians 5:19-20 Now the works of the flesh
are manifest, which are these: fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry,
sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths,
factions, divisions, parties,
• Galatians 5:21 envyings, drunkenness,
revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn
you, even as I did forewarn you, that they
who practise such things shall not inherit the
kingdom of God.

19. God always remembered the poor
• Luke 14:13 But when you give a feast, call
the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
• Galatians 2:10 Only they would that we
should remember the poor; the same which I
also was forward to do.

20. God always remembered the poor
• Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor
lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given
will he pay him again.
• Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because
he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;
he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach
deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to
the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
• Luke 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

21. FaithFaith and worksand works
• James 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren,
though a man says he has faith, and has not
works? can faith save him?
• James 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked,
and destitute of daily food,
• James 2:16 And one of you say unto them,
Depart in peace, be warmed and filled; yet
you give them not those things which are
needful to the body; what does it profit?
