Throughout the semester we have looked at a variety of Human Relations issues and how they impact various aspects of culture from race, gender, sexuality, able-bodiedness, religion, sex, interpersonal relationships and workplace interactions. However human relations students and scholars must look holistically and integrally rather than using a narrow focus.
For this assignment you will analyze a human relations problem from an integral perspective and then outline your personal vision for how to move toward greater inclusivity, cooperation, humanity, and compassion.
Assignment Specifics:
Your analysis can be over any human relations oriented problem from racism, sexism, islamopphobia, homonegativity, wage discrimination, transnegativity, prison rights, immigration discrimination, workplace discrimination, hate speech, sexual assault, illiteracy, etc (or another relevant topic)
Identify and analyze how the problem you've chosen is seen in the 4 quadrants of Integral Theory (further explanation below). You can learn more about the Four Quadrants of Integral Theory here. (Links to an external site.)
Subjective- How does this problem effect the individual(s) in a particular community (psychologically, emotionally, biologically/health, etc.) (Ex: Sexual assault effects both men and women emotionally and psychologically because....)
Intersubjective- How does this problem effect the community or family unit as a whole (communal values, norms, mores, traditions, relationships amongst people/cultures). (Ex: Sexual assault effects families because....the culture because...relationships....etc.)
Objective- How (if at all) does this problem effect the physical, objective world? The material body, scientific facts, the physical measurable universe). (Ex: Sexual assault effects public health because....)
Interobjective- How does this problem effect the systems humans function within (the economy, government, laws, social services, etc. (Ex: Sexual assault is a burden on the economy because...it effects laws and social services by....)
After identifying the various integral levels of the problem and finding relevant research within each quadrant to support that it is indeed a problem and its effect on that quadrant you will then address some initial steps to helping to manage or mitigate some of the problems you've addressed how you as a human relations student can contribute or raise awareness to being part of the solution.

Asthma is a respiratory disorder that affects children and adults.
Advanced practice nurses often provide treatment to patients
with these disorders. Sometimes patients require immediate
treatment, making it essential that you recognize and distinguish
minor asthma symptoms from serious, life-threatening ones.
Since symptoms and attacks are often induced by a trigger,
advanced practice nurses must also help patients identify their
triggers and recommend appropriate management options. Like
many other disorders, there are various approaches to treating
and managing care for asthmatic patients depending on
individual patient factors.
One method that supports the clinical decision making of drug
therapy plans for asthmatic patients is the stepwise approach,
which you explore in this Assignment.
To Prepare
· Reflect on drugs used to treat asthmatic patients, including
long-term control and quick relief treatment options for
patients. Think about the impact these drugs might have on
patients, including adults and children.
3. · Consider how you might apply the stepwise approach to
address the health needs of a patient in your practice.
· Reflect on how stepwise management assists health care
providers and patients in gaining and maintaining control of the
disease.
Create a 5- to 6-slide PowerPoint presentation that can be used
in a staff development meeting on presenting different
approaches for implementing the stepwise approach for asthma
treatment. Be sure to address the following:
· Describe long-term control and quick relief treatment options
for the asthma patient from your practice as well as the impact
these drugs might have on your patient.
· Explain the stepwise approach to asthma treatment and
management for your patient.
· Explain how stepwise management assists health care
providers and patients in gaining and maintaining control of the
disease. Be specific.
