Projects:
• Body Area Networks: Project involved designing wireless sensor networks located within
the human body and study the communication protocols such as Zigbee, WLAN, Bluetooth
and simulate the design in MATLAB. Personally worked on sending the sensor data using a
low power communication protocol, ZigBee, to the cellular device. Used C++ to program the
serial communication from the sensor to the mobile device of the individual, then data would
be sent to the LAN network, and via the Internet this data would be sent to the hospital
system and a doctor would be notified immediately.
• GUI Based Project: Project involved the design of a Pacemaker Electrode and analyzing its
effects on the Heart Tissue: An electrode was designed using Comsol Multiphysics with
varying parameters. These parameters were used to analyze its effect on the heart tissue. GUI
programming and 3D modelling with Comsol software was used to create the electrode
design.
• Embedded Systems: Project involved designing a speech-based Attendance System where
speech signals were processed and a database created so that every signal correlated to a
particular value. The value was repeated in the microphone and the person was marked as
present. As part of the team, my responsibility was for programming the microcontroller in
Embedded C to map the voice sample with the stored data.
• Project Based on C++: Individual project that involved creating a GUI of an online bank
account. Final product included a login page followed with all the standard banking options
such as transfers, deposits and withdrawals. The entire code was in C++ and the Eclipse
editor.
EXPERIENCE
TRANSENSYS LLC, San Mateo, California 7/16 – Present
Embedded Software Engineer – Use Python to program the TI Energia board and the camera
module. Plot and analyze the image detail on bare metal architecture.
LANCER CORP, San Antonio, Texas 2/16 – 7/16
Electronic Engineer – Used embedded programming for designing dispensing solutions. Used
C++ to program ARM processors, implemented graphics programming on the RPi in C, designed
PCBs in Altuim, and implemented state machines in embedded C.
RECKON POINT, LLC, San Antonio, Texas 10/15 – 1/16
Electrical Engineer – Developed new technology for indoor geo-location and mapping. Used
embedded programming with Python to program embedded circuits and create hardware
interface. Built the circuits and implemented the dead reckoning algorithm.
• Used Python to program the Laser Range Finders to calculate the position coordinates of a
point.
• Used Modular Programming to implement the Lrfs in Python using classes.
• Implemented the I2C protocol in Python 2.7 on Linux and used USB 2.0 Programming.
• Used the TinyCad software for designing electrical circuits and used Advanced Circuits and
Altuim software for PCB design and layout.
• Created graphics using C and C++.
TEXAS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY RESEARCH INSTITUTE, San Antonio, Texas 9/14 –5/15
Electrical Engineer – Worked as part of a three-member team and collected weather data using
temperature sensors, LDRs, and a weather board. As part of an Intelligent Energy System funded
by CPS Energy this project had a goal of enabling wireless communication between Sensor
Devices using the MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport Protocol) and allowing any
subscriber at the user end to access this data in real time. The data would be sent wirelessly using
the ZigBee protocol to the Eclipse Paho Cloud using the IoT publish-subscribe protocol MQTT.
• My activities focused on the publishing aspect of the protocol. Received sensor data was
published on the Cloud. This was achieved by using the MQTT protocol and programming in
Python on the Raspbian OS. Worked with Raspberry Pis and the XBee modules, used the
Nano and VIM editors on the Raspbian and Linux Operating Systems, and Matplotlib for real
time plotting of data.
