2. Rain that has been ACIDIFIED.
It destroys stained glass
windows, corrodes metal and also
ruins the paint color.
Acids also have effects on limestone
or marble building or sculptures.
3. Taj Mahal’s walls have
cracked and its
marble has lost the
brightness.
Statue of Liberty is
also affected by acid
rain.
4. The main components are sulfur
oxides(SOx) and nitrogen oxides(NOx).
These are usually emitted by power
plants, factories and cars.
When SOx and NOx are released into the
atmosphere, they react with water to form
sulfuric and nitric acid(H2SO4, NHO3).
5. SOx H2SO4
H2O
NOx NHO3

6. Ifit’s possible to move sculptures, we can
bring them inside.
However, if they are huge sculptures or
buildings like Taj Mahal , we can’t move
them.
So we must stop acid rain.
7. The most easy way for us is turning off
lights and electrical devices when we’re
not using them.
Avoid using cars and vehicles.
One of the most fundamental solutions is
using fuels burning more clearly, or burning
coal more efficiently.
