3. AUF PROFILE
Angeles University Foundation, a non-stock, non-profit educational institution, was established on
May 25, 1962 by Mr. Agustin P. Angeles, Dr. Barbara Y. Angeles, and family. In less than nine years, the
Institution was granted University status on April 16, 1971 by the Department of Education, Culture
and Sports.
On December 4, 1975, the University was converted to a non-stock, non-profit educational foundation
-- the Angeles couple and their children executed a Deed of Donation relinquishing their ownership.
AUF was incorporated under Republic Act No. 6055, otherwise known as the Foundation Law, and is a
tax-exempt institution approved by the Philippine government. All donations and bequests given to
the AUF are tax deductible.
On February 14, 1978, AUF was converted into a Catholic University. As the first Catholic university in
Central Luzon, AUF ensures not only professional success but total development which is anchored on
Christian education that is holistic, integrated and formative. On February 20, the five-storey, 125-
bed AUF Medical Center was inaugurated which serves as teaching, training and research hospital, the
first ever in Central Luzon.

5. THE FOUNDER
BARBARA was born on December 4, 1907. Her birth was considered a high event, an appropriate
justification for a Yuletide thanksgiving celebration. On Christmas Day, the family invited
friends and relatives to witness the very charming way the baby girl would open her eyes and
squint at the guests who were disarmed by the innocence of her smile.
The years passed very quickly and the infant blossomed into a lovable schoolgirl, earning
credits for her mathematics prowess, and honors for her language proficiency. Averse to seeking
for public recognition, Barbara was content with her silent victory over the curricular
requirements. Upon graduation from high school, she informed her parents of her decision to
pursue a degree in education.
The school building was a modest one-storey structure, semi-concrete, with four classrooms.
Ildefonso and Barbara had such great faith in the goodness of man that they expected loyalty
from the administrative and teaching staff. The first to be trusted was a young man whom
Ildefonso knew and met at Avenida Rizal, Manila looking for a job. Out of the goodness of his
heart, Ildefonso gave him the position of assistant principal of the school. Barbara for her part
accepted the services of a classmate at Centro Escolar de Senoritas as part of the
administrative staff. All went well for a time, with the teachers performing their level best.
