16. “The Stoics maintain that
happiness is living in
accordance with Nature…
Only that which is perfectly in
accordance with nature as
whole is truly perfect.”

Game dev - CyberAgent\nrun personal development group\ninterested happiness, motivation, personality\n--- Ok, I’m going to tell you a story.\n\n
I was working in London, well paid, but often unhappy.\n
But I didn’t know what caused happiness. I wondered how I could make myself happier.\n
Fab / awesome\nNotepad size - Fantastic times\nSee a pattern?\n
I recorded many events, but I couldn’t see an obvious pattern, so gave up.\n
\n
Even in Japan, I was still sometimes unhappy, so I got more academic.\nReading books, checking websites, meditation, personal dev \n
Some things helped, but I felt stuck. \nI learnt health was the most important aspect. You can’t be happy without health.\n
So the first step was good health. And I think if you cover these bases, your health is sorted. Great.\n
But rest of happiness\nmystery\nSo I looked into theories for happiness.\n
\n
\n
Interesting. I think they are good to bear in mind. But a general life theory acts on everyone...\n
But do we all\nrespond\nsame way?\nMaybe personality important?\nDoes what makes you happy depend on your personality?\n
The Enneagram (Based on work by Gurdjieff)\n
MBTI (Based on work by Carl Jung)\n
The Big Five personality test ( Work of Costa & McCrae)\n\n
But can we put everyone in one of 9, or 16 boxes? \nWhat happens if we’re all different? \n...and different things make us happy\n
Hmmm...\n
What I wanted was an app.\nSoftware to tell me:\n“Try this: You’ll like it”\nHow about painting, or learning greek? \n

Well, I’m a developer, so I thought I’d try.\n
