Living with Post– Traumatic Stress Disorder
Today, hundreds of thousands of service men and women and recent military veterans have seen
combat. Many have been shot at, seen their buddies killed, or witnessed death up close. These are
types of events that can lead to Post– Traumatic Stress Disorder ("Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
PTSD: A Growing Epidemic. ") Anyone that has gone through a traumatic event can be diagnosed
with PTSD but research shows, military men and women are more susceptible to having PTSD
(PTSD: A Growing Epidemic.) And, with little help from the US, many Veterans do not get the help
they need or get treated for PTSD. Military men and women begin to...show more content...
About 30% of the men and women who have spent time in war zones experience PTSD.
(Military.) The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that PTSD afflicts almost 31% of
Vietnam veterans, as any as 10% of Gulf War veterans, 11% of veterans of the war in Afghanistan,
and 20% of Iraqi war veterans. An additional 20 to 25 percent of all military men and women have
had partial PTSD at some point in their lives (Military.)
People with PTSD often have anger issues and emotional problems. It is likely for them to have
thoughts of suicide and feel completely disconnected from their lives and from other people. They
have lived through a drastic trauma that is hard to overcome and go on with their lives. PTSD
effects everyday interactions and feelings. Post– Traumatic Stress Disorder affects the daily lives of
the people suffering from it. Some may need accommodations at work depending on their personal
severance of the disorder. People with PTSD miss more days at work and work less efficiently
than people without PTSD (PTSD Effects.) Certain symptoms of PTSD, such as difficulties
concentrating and problems sleeping may make it difficult for a person with PTSD to pay attention
at work, stay organized, or make it to work on time. People with PTSD also have higher rates of
unemployment than people without PTSD. (Military)

The Sixties Essay
1960's Term Paper
The 1960's impacted the United States in profound ways. With the seventy million baby boomers
growing into their teens, they brought with them change that is still evolving in our society today.
The sixties was a time where American culture moved from being conservative to new and insightful
ways of thinking. With these changes, it brought a new counter culture that would be known as the
hippie culture. The hippies led way into a new sexual revolution that would break the old fashioned
boundaries. The hippies also ushered in a new era where drugs became popular to a large public as
well as within their own culture. Drugs were becoming a part of American culture, as well as new

Sadly he was assassinated at the young age of 39, in Memphis, Tennessee. Another notable civil
rights activist was Malcolm X. His thoughts on how protesting should be done were much more
radical than King's and were often violent. Through this movement, the sixties saw the
de–segregation of schools as well. To put it simply, the sixties were monumental in how our society
remains today. The United States today serves as the most diverse country in the world, all due to
the help of the Civil rights movement of the sixties. The people that would become associated with
the new teenage counter–culture movement were known as the hippies. The movement began in the
mid–sixties in the United States. The hippies often believed in peace and pleasure. They even
ushered in a new music genre of psychedelic rock. The Grateful Dead as well as the Beatles was
famous artists coming from the movement and genre. The hippies created their own communities
where they criticized the mainstream society and middle class. One thing they revolutionized was
sex. The sexual revolution moved from traditional ways of behaving to more promiscuous
activities and pleasures. The norms of American sexual culture would change greatly. Hippies
were promoters of free love in the sexual revolution. They taught that the power of sex and love
should be a part of everyday teenage life. In some colleges, they started to make dorms coed; in
which the males and females could come together freely. "A

Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the
basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things
like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the
future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers,
documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I
predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in
kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with
no errors. All through elementary my teachers taught me...show more content...
I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic
and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I
need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My
goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or
have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge
to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays,
and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in
my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to
do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex
education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will
have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I
can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so
that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am
talking about by my writing skills when doing shift changes. I will have to be very precise so that
other nurses will not

Globalization (Term Paper)
Introduction and stand point
Globalization means the worldwide movement toward economic, financial, trade, communications
and ideas in one global marketplace. It refers to economic globalization. Under globalization, people
around the world are more connected to each other than before and information and money flow
more quickly than former. Globalization does not only affect the international trade, but also affect
the cultural exchange.
Nowadays, international business and globalization seem to be a trend. The advantages and
disadvantages of globalization have been heavily debated in recent years .Some may claim that the
globalization causes the job loses, low wages and exploited workers. On the other hand, others may
argue that the...show more content...
In order to compete, they are forced to sell their crops at much lower price. As the result, some poor
countries may go bankruptcy easily with limited money inflow under globalization
Globalization and culture conflicts
Globalization brings many new changes in all organizations in different countries because the
complex process has created conflicts and inequalities. People who live in the margins are affected.
Conflicts such as the 911 on America, is interrelated with globalization because it was primary
source of war on terror. If some conflict between countries or religious grows up continually, they
will cause unstable political environment. For example, demonstration or rebellion would occur
frequently in many areas.
Globalization and its bad effect on nation welfare
The relations of national economies, and the dependency of government
finance on global markets and foreign lending creates the conditions for an
international fiscal crisis of the nation–state. The nation state becomes
powerless in controlling monetary policy, deciding its budget, collecting its
corporate taxes, and fulfilling its commitments to provide social welfare. The
production and investment thus threatens the welfare state. Followed the
argument, we would expect to see the diminishing in public or governmental
intervention on social services, such as health, education and an

Term Paper: Child Abuse
Child abuse is common in most places and in most cases the abuse form of sexual, mental, and
physical abuse. These children who are usually abused or neglected you have low self–esteem and
have been taught to feel worthless. The percentage of children abuse just in the United States is
drastic. According to an article, more than 2.5 million reports of child abuse are made in the United
States annually with hundreds of deaths.... What this says about the United States is that we need to
be better have a better system of where and what our children are exposed to.
Child abuse can be defined as a guardian parent or caregiver abusing their child. This form of
abuse can be caused due to the environment a child is living in, the lack of parental skills, and
through social media. There are many ways to inflict abuse on children and in my opinion and has
grown over time. But a flip side to this is that it can be cut early if you 're different signs that the
children may exhibit. These include social skills comma repeated injuries, changes in behavior and
many more. According to an article by the National Council on child abuse and Family Violence,
child neglect is continued failure to provide a child necessary care and protection. Children are not
getting the medical attention they need. They are not being fed properly to get the right nutrients.

How My Writing Has Changed Essay
My writing styles have changed drastically over the past four years of high school. This memo will
explain how my writing has changed and how my knowledge of writing has improved.
Aspects of My Writing during High School
During my English courses throughout high school, I learned many things from writing simple
journals, research papers, and a single term paper. During high school, I was laid back and
procrastinated for much of my work. During the latter part of high school when I wrote my term
paper my senior year, I found out that working a little every night writing a few paragraphs helped
me out greatly. I was not just throwing something together just to get the grade and the paper
finished. I spent time on the paper and...show more content...
I do this so the information is true, and also in order from which events have occurred. When I
wrote my term paper my senior year I was well organized. I was required to write about an event
in history. I chose India Uprising of 1877 as the topic of my paper. This topic was not interesting at
all, but I chose to write about it. When I finished writing my thesis and outline, I wrote note cards
about the different topics, which allowed me to gather all my information and organize it in which
different events occurred. When I was finished with the paper, it sounded and read consistently and it
all flowed together.
How These Experiences Prepared Me for College Writing
I have written many different types of papers for all of my classes throughout high school. For
my science classes, I have written several labs in the form of essays. Writing the essays was
different for me because I did not really know that science had much to do with writing. It took me
a while to gather all the information I needed to finish my lab assignments. Writing lab reports will
definitely help me in my science courses in the next four years.
The journals I have written came from my four years of high school English. Everyday I came to
class there would be a topic on the board. I took five minutes each day to write about the given
topic. It was brainstorming and giving our input on whatever the topic was. I think

Poverty has been redefined in industrial countries, so that anyone at the lower end of the income
distribution is poor ex officio, as it was–poor by virtue of having less than the rich. And of course by
this logic, the only way of eliminating poverty is by an egalitarian redistribution of wealth–even if
the society as a whole were to become poorer as a result. [4]

History of Poverty in the Philippines Individuals are said to be in absolute poverty when they are
unable to obtain at least a specified minimum of the food, clothing, and shelter that are considered
necessary for continued survival. In the Philippines, two such minimums have been established. The
poverty line is defined in terms of a least–cost consumption basket of food that provides 2,016
calories and 50 grams of protein per day and of nonfood items consumed by families in the lowest
quintile of the population. In 1988 the poverty line for a family of six was estimated to be P2,709
per month. The subsistence level is defined as the income level that allows purchase of the minimum
food requirements

Climate Change (Term Paper)
Summary: This paper looks at the controversial issue of climatic change. In particular, it develops the
question of if and why earth's climate is changing? The roles of man, naturally occurring trends, and
earth's cycles are considered, and an outlook for what can be expected in the near and distant future
is given. В‘The uneasiness of modern man arises from a rupture between himself and nature that
leaves him homeless within the universe...' William Barrett Introduction Over the past years most
individuals have become acutely aware that the intensity of human and economic development
enjoyed over the 20th century cannot be sustained. Material consumption and ever increasing
populations are already stressing...show more content...
The point here is not to provide an evaluation of Malthus, and one might well argue that he was
wrong in many of his predictions; but rather to highlight the posit that man has long been living
beyond his means. Sooner or later, this will have its consequences. As a species, our success has
certainly been impressive, but it has come by turning a blind–eye to our surroundings. "A prime
reason for our success is our flexibility as a switcher predator and scavenger. We are consummately
adaptable, able to switch form one resource baseВ—grasslands, forests or estuariesВ—to another, as
each is exploited to its maximum tolerance or use up. Like other successful species we have
learned to adapt ourselves to new environments. But, unlike other animals, we made a jump from
being successful to being a runaway success. We have made this jump because of our ability to
adapt environments for our own uses in ways that no other animal can match." Whether or not man
can continue to adapt to the emerging environment, however, is a difficult question. In a (literally)
rapidly changing world, it is difficult to look back on past or present to divine the future. But,
using Malthus' line of reasoning, one way or another mother nature will surely В‘take care of us'.
"Lack of resources, environmental degradation, famine and disease will in the painful fashion
known by our ancestors cut our species back. AIDS is the obvious example of a way in which to do

Essay on Gerrymandering
English 1101
January 22, 2014
Gerrymandering
Gerrymandering is defined as the establishment of boundaries of voting districts with the main
objective of determining the partial or complete outcome of elections. Gerrymanders are designed
with the main objective of insuring the defeat of specific individuals or electing political allies.
There are a number of objectives of gerrymandering. Gerrymandering is usually carried out in order
to allow for the reelection of incumbents or for the party in power to win more seats in an election
than the number to which its percentage of the total vote properly entitles it. This only serves to
subvert the will of the people since it denies them the amount of voting power that they are entitled
...show more content...
The resulting districts are normally referred to as gerrymanders and they are composed of
pro–incumbents and partisans. Partisan gerrymandering involves the redrawing of political lines in
order to favor a given political party. Incumbent gerrymandering involves the redrawing of
boundaries in a bipartisan manner that is aimed at benefiting the incumbents on both sides of the
aisle (Snider 2012).
The gerrymandering process allows the majority party within a given state to maximize the number
of seats it can win in the future elections. This leads it into creating as many districts as possible
where it constitutes the majority. By doing this, those who support the minority parties are packed
into the remaining few districts. This results in more electoral security for the minority party and
less electoral security for the members of the minority parties. It also produces greater homogeneity
within the districts while reducing competition for the house seats. Apart from the positive effects of
gerrymandering, there are a number of negative effects associated with partisan gerrymandering.
This process results in more competitive districts when compared to the non competitive districts and
this in turn ambiguously affects polarization. Partisan gerrymandering also affects the state
legislative electoral competitiveness as it has severe partisan biases. Excessive partisan
gerrymandering is the violation of the equal protection clause since it consigns the

I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex education if I want to be a course instructor. • 8. How My Writing Has Changed Essay My writing styles have changed drastically over the past four years of high school. This memo will explain how my writing has changed and how my knowledge of writing has improved. Aspects of My Writing during High School During my English courses throughout high school, I learned many things from writing simple journals, research papers, and a single term paper. During high school, I was laid back and procrastinated for much of my work. During the latter part of high school when I wrote my term paper my senior year, I found out that working a little every night writing a few paragraphs helped me out greatly. I was required to write about an event in history. I chose India Uprising of 1877 as the topic of my paper. This topic was not interesting at all, but I chose to write about it. When I finished writing my thesis and outline, I wrote note cards about the different topics, which allowed me to gather all my information and organize it in which different events occurred. When I was finished with the paper, it sounded and read consistently and it all flowed together. How These Experiences Prepared Me for College Writing I have written many different types of papers for all of my classes throughout high school. For my science classes, I have written several labs in the form of essays. Writing the essays was different for me because I did not really know that science had much to do with writing. It took me a while to gather all the information I needed to finish my lab assignments. Writing lab reports will definitely help me in my science courses in the next four years. The journals I have written came from my four years of high school English. Everyday I came to class there would be a topic on the board. I took five minutes each day to write about the given topic. It was brainstorming and giving our input on whatever the topic was. I think Get more content on HelpWriting.net

[3] Poverty has been redefined in industrial countries, so that anyone at the lower end of the income distribution is poor ex officio, as it was–poor by virtue of having less than the rich. And of course by this logic, the only way of eliminating poverty is by an egalitarian redistribution of wealth–even if the society as a whole were to become poorer as a result. In the Philippines, two such minimums have been established. The poverty line is defined in terms of a least–cost consumption basket of food that provides 2,016 calories and 50 grams of protein per day and of nonfood items consumed by families in the lowest quintile of the population. In 1988 the poverty line for a family of six was estimated to be P2,709 per month. The roles of man, naturally occurring trends, and earth's cycles are considered, and an outlook for what can be expected in the near and distant future is given. В‘The uneasiness of modern man arises from a rupture between himself and nature that leaves him homeless within the universe...' Material consumption and ever increasing populations are already stressing...show more content... The point here is not to provide an evaluation of Malthus, and one might well argue that he was wrong in many of his predictions; but rather to highlight the posit that man has long been living beyond his means. Sooner or later, this will have its consequences. As a species, our success has certainly been impressive, but it has come by turning a blind–eye to our surroundings. "A prime reason for our success is our flexibility as a switcher predator and scavenger. We are consummately adaptable, able to switch form one resource baseВ—grasslands, forests or estuariesВ—to another, as each is exploited to its maximum tolerance or use up. Like other successful species we have learned to adapt ourselves to new environments. But, unlike other animals, we made a jump from being successful to being a runaway success. We have made this jump because of our ability to adapt environments for our own uses in ways that no other animal can match." Whether or not man can continue to adapt to the emerging environment, however, is a difficult question. In a (literally) rapidly changing world, it is difficult to look back on past or present to divine the future. But, using Malthus' line of reasoning, one way or another mother nature will surely В‘take care of us'. "Lack of resources, environmental degradation, famine and disease will in the painful fashion known by our ancestors cut our species back. • 12. Essay on Gerrymandering English 1101 January 22, 2014 Gerrymandering Gerrymandering is defined as the establishment of boundaries of voting districts with the main objective of determining the partial or complete outcome of elections. Gerrymanders are designed with the main objective of insuring the defeat of specific individuals or electing political allies. There are a number of objectives of gerrymandering. Gerrymandering is usually carried out in order to allow for the reelection of incumbents or for the party in power to win more seats in an election than the number to which its percentage of the total vote properly entitles it. This only serves to subvert the will of the people since it denies them the amount of voting power that they are entitled ...show more content... The resulting districts are normally referred to as gerrymanders and they are composed of pro–incumbents and partisans. Partisan gerrymandering involves the redrawing of political lines in order to favor a given political party. Incumbent gerrymandering involves the redrawing of boundaries in a bipartisan manner that is aimed at benefiting the incumbents on both sides of the aisle (Snider 2012). The gerrymandering process allows the majority party within a given state to maximize the number of seats it can win in the future elections. This leads it into creating as many districts as possible where it constitutes the majority. By doing this, those who support the minority parties are packed into the remaining few districts. This results in more electoral security for the minority party and less electoral security for the members of the minority parties. It also produces greater homogeneity within the districts while reducing competition for the house seats. Apart from the positive effects of gerrymandering, there are a number of negative effects associated with partisan gerrymandering. This process results in more competitive districts when compared to the non competitive districts and this in turn ambiguously affects polarization. Partisan gerrymandering also affects the state legislative electoral competitiveness as it has severe partisan biases. Excessive partisan gerrymandering is the violation of the equal protection clause since it consigns the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
