(The Snyper & The Most Dangerous Game)
The story The Sniper takes place during the civil war in Dublin, where a single sniper waits on a
roof top to eliminate any threat from the oposing forces. This story is very tense right from the
begining as soon as he noticed the enemys watching him and a bullet comes close to hitting him.
This story's opening is one that catches your attention and gets you really focussed on the story.
The Most Dangerous Game on the other hand starts out with a reputed hunter falls off the yacht he
was on and ends up on an unfamiliar island. In which he finds General Zaroff only then does the

A while has passed and it looks like all the animals on the island have been hunted and killed.
General Zaroff then finds Sanger Rainsford washed up onto the island and he thinks, and thinks
him to be a very worthy pray. So General Zaroff becomes a people hunter, and Sanger Rainsford
becomes his victim. In the story The Sniper The main character is the sniper and we only really
learn about his character, he is an intelligent man who has superior skills in his field of sniping.
We see this after he was hit in his arm and he raises his hat and when the enemy fires at it he lets
the hat and his gun fall leading the enemy to belive he was hit. His ability to keep his calm was the
main factor in his survival.
Liam O'Flaherty uses a lot of description with no direct speech, not even what the sniper is
thinking to himself. The story is told in a narative style this give us a more descriptive plot we
learn all the details of the story, without any direct speech. The Most Dangerous Game was almost
entirly dircet speech, but it still had a lot of despriction, using the narative and direct speech styles
we learn more about the characters and their traits.
The Sniper had much suspense in it each passing sentence got you more on the eadge of your seat.
The biggist suspense scene was when the sniper made the enemy think he was dead, and waiting for

Basically Chinese parents regard sending their children abroad as a risk–free investment. Usually
Chinese families spend all their money supporting their children. So they want their children go

Inexperienced teachers have a good subject specialism, this is generally fresh from their training,
however not much practical experience in the classroom and dealing with difficult situations.
"For many newly qualified teachers, while pupils provide the ultimate reward in teaching, their
poor behavior was often the cause of the major low points". In some aspects there is very little
difference in experienced or new teachers in relation to their knowledge in their subject, both
should know their subject well and keep their knowledge updated on a regular basis. Also both

The theme of the story "The Lottery" is blind acceptance of something just because it is considered
tradition. In Jackson's "The Lottery", symbols are utilized to help show the theme. The name of the
story, "The Lottery", itself is a symbol. The term lottery can be viewed, by most, as a good thing, a
hope in winning, but winning the lottery takes on a very different, very dark meaning in
Jackson's story. Also, the names of the characters are symbols as well. For example, Graves is a
name that would portray death and Summers is a bright and cheerful name. Also, the name Old
Man Warner would show tradition. Next, is the use of the black box and the black dot on the
paper. The color black is showing darkness, evil, and death. The tradition of the black box is a
symbol, in the fact that it is worn and faded, but still used by the villagers. Shirley Jackson
conveys the theme very clearly through the use of symbols. In the end, the villagers are shown to
be evil and murderous just because of tradition. The villagers do not seem to have a problem with
murdering others within the lottery because it is what they have always done and no one is going to
declare that what they are doing is wrong. This shows the reader that following blindly can have

The differences between a narrative and a descriptive essay determine the way in which the
reader receives the story. The purpose of each is still very clear, to connect to the reader using
story telling. In order for the reader to receive the story as intended, the author must create a clear
picture of; events, settings, and purpose. In both pieces that I read, "Fish Cheeks" and "Caged
Bird", both writers were able to do this– each in their own way.

In Fish Cheeks, there was well over 4 different quotations(Tan, 2013). These quotations were also
from different sources– her mother and father. This is one of the factors that contributed to a good
sense of understanding at the end of the reading. Taking stories from real life events in my opinion
is more relatable.
After reading both literary works, it is evident that Fish Cheeks was a better written piece. I feel
that it would be able to relate to almost anyone. The ways that Amy Tan described the event and
later on gave insight to her significant life revelation, was very touching. It is not an easy task to
write about something, and be able to have others relate to you. I think that she chose a very
relevant topic to our current day in age. The topics of bullying and peer pressure are very relevant to
previous decades as well as this day in age. She was able to find something relative as well as
relatable, which is why I would consider this a superior essay. Our society should learn a thing or
two, from her experiences and what she has to share.

behind both are incredible, it shows and understands the meanings of love, lust, joy, and intimacy.
Love can either be spelt out or expressed by action and is what both pieces show. Love can be

An example of this come straight from the book. During the book, Daisy talks about being too

The act of being habitually and carefully neat and clean can make for an interesting topic in a
comparison and contrast essay. Dave Barry compares the differences of how women and men clean
in his compare and contrast essay, Batting Clean– Up and Striking out. In Suzanne Britt's compare
and contrast essay, Neat People vs. Sloppy People she compares the differences of personalities
between Sloppy people and neat people. Both essays compare cleanliness in one way or another
however they both have differences regarding their use of humor, examples, and points made in their
thesis.

The way Barry and Britt support their points in their compare and contrast essays differ. In Batting
Clean–Up and Striking Out, Barry uses lots of personal stories and factual happenings to explain his
opinions. For example, to explain how men are worse at cleaning Barry specifically refers to a
volcano eruption that happened in Pompei because the men, who were in control of the cleaning,
did not notice ashes piling up around and in their houses. In addition, when describing how men
are better with sports than woman he refers to a personal story; specifically a story about a dinner
party that he attended where the men were glued to the World Series and the women were still
chatting amongst themselves. These forms of examples are personal stories that offer validity. On
the other hand, in Britt's Neat people vs. Sloppy people she uses more dreamt up incidences to
explain her opinions. For example when explaining how neat people are "viscous with their mail"

money–saving coupons go straight into the trash can without being opened...No sentimental
salvaging of birthday cards or the last letter a dying relative ever wrote. Into the trash it goes" (256).

Its also not just about the past it is also about looking towards a positive future. In person–centred
therapy there are three core prinables whice are empathy, unconditanal positive regards and
