2. Why are social needs important to employers? When the needs for physiological well-being and safety are satisfied, the next phase of Maslow’s design is social needs or affiliation. This social field includes a sense of belonging, acceptance, and friendship. Employers should provide a sense of community within their organization in order to help reduce turn-over of employees.
3. Integrating social needs into a work environment By reinforcing team dynamics a company could reinforce a sense of acceptance, belonging and community. Feedback also helps bolster an employee’s sense of belonging. Management can create a sense of belonging through communicating their intention to the employee and making an employee feel as though they are a part of the vision (Warrilow, S. 2010).
4. Making an employee feel accepted and appreciated. An individual may feel accepted into the group if an employer values their ideas. As an employer seeking and using employee's ideas, helps facilitate the employee to feel a part of the business. If an employee believes that a company values their input this establishes a bond between the company and the employee.

The employer benefits from keeping their employees happy. Research has suggested that high turn-over within a company is costly. The time and money that it cost to educate new employees can be a heavy burden for an employer. In order to retain your employees a company should use every tool they have in order to keep their employees. Knowing the heirarchy of needs in Maslow’s model will assist employers with understanding employees needs.

This research has allowed me to grow as a manager. I can understand some of the basic needs my employees have before they even talk with me about them. I have grown a little more with this course and feel I can become a better leader with the information I have. Social is a very important part of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs model. It is alos important for an employer to understand the basic needs of their employees.
