The ear is divided into three parts - the outer, middle, and inner ear. The outer ear includes the pinna or auricle, which is shaped like a funnel. Sound travels through the outer ear and vibrates the eardrum, a thin cone-shaped piece of skin around 10mm wide located in the middle ear. The inner ear includes the cochlea for hearing.
