1. HE CRACOW BUGLE-CALL LEGEND
Long, long time ago the eastern enemies attacked Poland and
killed many people.
In Cracow there was a tower where a trumpeter was standing and
playing the melody at 12 a.m. to tell the people the time. One early
morning, the city was still asleep. The trumpeter saw the enemy
arriving at the town. He immediately started playing the melody
which woke the people up. Hearing that melody, Polish knew they
were in danger and they started preparing themselves to fight. The
enemies found out about the guard. They watched him and shot him
with an arrow. The melody stopped rapidly … the trumpeter was
killed but the city was saved.
Till this day the melody
called the Cracow bugle-
call is played at midday
in Cracow and it’s
rapidly interrupted to
commemorate the death
of the trumpeter.
