This document describes a mobile app called Mission: Recovery that is intended to help people in eating disorder recovery give themselves permission to enjoy daily activities without feeling guilty. The app would send one message per day with an actionable suggestion like "I get to go for a walk." According to early user feedback, receiving permission from an external source helped users ground themselves and enjoy activities instead of focusing on troubles. The conclusion is that getting permission from a tangible source may be key in the early stages of eating disorder recovery.
