All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior
Project. Some projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form
must be completed and returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17,
2012. You will not be allowed to change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and
Creekview High School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project. The overall topic of my senior project is
creating a computer network.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study? I have done several projects on this
topic in my past years, and I have learned many tips from my father.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)? I will connect this project to
computing and engineering careers.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary. I plan on setting up a network. First, I must decide whether
to create a wired or wireless network. Then, I must determine my IP address and create
a work-group name. Then, I assign a SSID to my router. Then, I will decide on the
encryption for my network. Finally, I verify the connectivity.This network will be able to
connect to other computers to share files and save documents on a cloud. I will bring in
a computer with my created network on it.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you? This project doesn’t require
much hard labor, but a lot of brain-work. I have never done anything such like this, so it
will definitely be a huge learning experience. This will be a rather long process and
require much of my time.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs? The
estimated costs for my product will be around $200. I will fund these costs by using my
money from work, with help from my parents.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator? I have chosen
Todd Bowker (close family friend) to be my project facilitator.

2. 8) What is this person’s expertise in this field? Mr. Bowker studied electrical and industrial
engineering at Georgia Tech in 6 years of education. He has worked 20 years in
telecommunications and networking. He has done products like this before.
