Bottled Water Safe
Every year worldwide, 72 billion gallons of water are used just to make empty plastic water bottles.
In the article, "Are the Bottles Safe," details are given about how clean and safe bottled tap water
really is. Bottled water has more health risks and is more environmentally harmful than drinking tap
water in a reusable bottle.
When bottles of water are stored incorrectly, the water can become unsafe to drink. When this water
is stored in too hot or cold of a temperature, the chemicals from the water bottle's plastic may leach
into the water itself. Antimony is a harmful toxic material used in making PET used for water
bottles. When there are high concentrations of antimony in your water, it can lead to nausea,
vomiting, and diarrhea. "Leaving bottled water out in the car changes the chemical equilibrium so
that the materials from the plastic go into the water faster," says Ken Smith. The more heat a water
bottle is exposed to, the quicker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"But no one should think that bottled water is better regulated, better protected or safer than tap,"
says Eric Goldstein. Most people don't know that they are drinking "glorified tap water" when they
are drinking a bottle of water that claims it is from a pristine source but is actually from a public
water source. About 25% of bottled water comes from municipal supply. Water coming from areas
near hazardous sources sell water to bottlers. This water may then be passed off as "spring water" or
"pure glacier water."
Drinking water that is packaged in plastic bottles has more wasteful and harmful than drinking water
from the tap. Water bottles left in hot temperatures can release unhealthy chemicals into the plastic
into your drink. Using water from the tap can prevent billions of plastic water bottles from harming
the earth. Bottled water isn't a premium as you think. About 25% of water in bottles comes from
municipal sources that may come from harmful

The Use Of Ohh 's Water Bottle Essay
a. The first and new to the world feature that H2–Ohh's water bottle has is the ability to take and
display a person's heart rate. Heart health is essential to those working out. When a person wants to
work out, are they doing too much or not enough? Knowing your target heart rate helps hit the bull's
eye to achieve one's goal. This will in turn help consumers who are choosing to lose weight, to get
their resting heart rate down, or to control their cardio and fat burn workouts. The water bottle will
have a heart rate monitor on the grip that will display on the front of the water bottle whenever the
heart rate monitor is activated.
b. Another key factor in achieving one's goal is the amount of water consumed. Keeping track of
how much water will become easier with this new water bottle. There is technology that measures
how much water is in the bottle throughout the day and measures when water leaves and enters the
bottle. The amount in ounces will be recorded and saved on the app needed for the water bottle. The
app will also help set alarms to remind the person to drink water throughout the day in order to
reach their set goals. When setting up the app there must be information put in and the app will
utilize that and put it into an algorithm. The information it will take into account will be the user 's
age, weight, height, and exercise patterns. It will be easy to automatically assess their water
consumption needs and will alert to drink an appropriate level of water.

The Causes Of Human Laziness And The Environment
The amount of laziness a human exhibits seems to have a positive correlation with the amount of
pollution that the human gives off. The start of human laziness dates back all the to the start of the
human race. Research has shown that humans are biologically born with laziness, but the amount of
laziness differs between humans (Hreha). The greatest danger to the environment is human laziness.
Being lazy is a great thing because so much time is saved. Time may be saved, but in exchange, the
environment gets destroyed instead. Driving a car to work may be faster, but it also destroys the
environment so much faster. Biking to the store serves the same purpose and it saves the
environment greatly. Cars are a huge contributor to global warming. Cars and trucks combined are
responsible for one–fifth of all US emissions. They release about 24 pounds of carbon dioxide and
other global warming gases for every gallon of gas used (Union of Concerned Scientists). About five
pounds of those gases come from production, extraction, and delivery of gasoline. More than 19
pounds are released per gallon from a car's tailpipe (Union of Concerned Scientists). 1.2 billion
cubic yards of polluted air is from manufacture. Painting and coating cars produces 40 million
pounds of air releases and 24 million pounds of hazardous waste a year. A car's lifetime produces 1.3
billion cubic yard of polluted air and scatters 40 pounds of worn tire particles, brake debris, and
worn road surface into the atmosphere (Bike to Work Day). Pollutants released a year add up to over
12,140 lbs for cars and 17,000 for light trucks. Some of those pollutants are carbon dioxide, carbon
monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides (Bike to Work Day). By choosing to bike or walk
instead of drive, the amount of gases and waste contributing to global warming, drops drastically.
Choosing to drive instead of taking a greener form of transportation is a great threat to the
environment. Plastic water bottles are seen and consumed everywhere. Without knowing the deadly
effects that water bottles have on the environment, consumers will keep buying them and contribute
to the problem. About 17 million barrels of oil are used each year solely to make water bottles

Should We Ban Water Bottles
Water bottles should be banned. Our world is falling apart at an alarming rate. Last year, according
to source one, 38 billion water bottles ended up in in landfills to pollute our environment. There is
only one solution to this crisis. . . Ban water bottles! First of all, water bottles use up fuel. This is
what powers our homes and starts our cars. It would be devastating if their were no fuel left. . .
According to source one, it takes 17 billion barrels of crude oil to make these bottles a year. 190,000
homes could be powered with that much oil. Next, water bottles are expensive. For example, from
source one, it costs over one billion dollars a year to make the bottles. Who would want to spend
that much cash on plastic! Also according to source one, the regular 8 glasses of tap water a year
adds up to about $0.49. The same amount of water in bottles costs 1,400! ... Show more content on

First, according to source one, out of 6 water bottles we use, only one makes it in the recycling. It
seems as though people don't even think when throwing away bottles. According to source one, 86%
of all water bottles end up in landfills. That means that only 14% of water bottles are recycled.
Water bottles should be banned. It is not too late to make a difference. If we brought this problem
into the world, than we can take it out. BAN BOTTLED

The Importance Of Plastic Bottles
Plastic Bottles? Not In My State Imagine walking through the streets of the city that you love and
grew up in. It is filled with beautiful scenery, buildings, and has a rich history with many memories
attached. The only problem is, there are plastic bottles lining the streets. Since plastic is not
biodegradable, this could potentially be everyone's future if changes are not made now. Many states
in America have implemented bottle bills, but there are also many states that have decided to not be
a part of the bottle bill trend. Every state in America should implement a bottle bill to improve the
economy and the environment.
In the article, "Recycling" Found on the website "Opposing Viewpoints In Context", the definition
of a bottle bill is given: Bottle bills are laws that require a surcharge, usually a nickel or a dime, to
be charged on certain beverages (beer, soda, sometimes bottled water). This money is collected by
sellers and bottlers. When consumers return the beverage containers, they are given back the deposit
in cash. The first bottle bill in North America was passed in the Canadian province of British
Columbia in 1970; in 1971, Oregon became the first U.S. state to pass a deposit law. By 1985, 10
states had passed deposit laws. Hawaii became the eleventh state with such a law in 2005. At that
time, about 30% of the U.S. population lived in a deposit–law state.
Now there are only 11 states in America that have bottle bills, which also means there are 39 states

Pros And Cons Of A Baby Bottle
Are You Choosing The Right Feeding Bottle For Your Baby? Here's Your Complete Guide
Watching my nephew grow up from a whiny newborn to a super charged–up toddler, I realized one
thing about babies: They require extra care (AT. EVERY. STEP.); Even a task as simple as buying a
bottle isn't that simple when it comes to babies, especially first borns (new parents, dig me?). You
will be glad to know that until your baby starts consuming solids, there's a long road that can be
covered smoothly with bottle feeding.
However, once your little munchkin has turned over six months of age and you wish to introduce
top feed, it's better to do your homework before you hit the streets in search of the right baby–
friendly flask. After all, nestling your baby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plastic Baby Bottles
By far the most widely used material in baby bottles, plastic is affordable, lightweight and can be
moulded into different designs and shapes. Plastic baby bottles are so common that you can spot at
least one in nine out of ten households with infants. However, the use of these bottles declined with
the spread of awareness of BPA content present in them. You'll be glad to know that in 2012, FDA
banned the use of BPA in baby bottles and sippy cups. To make sure, you can also look for BPA–
free label on the bottle.
Pros of using plastic baby bottle:
Lightweight
Affordable
Resistant to breakage
Easy to store
Doesn't sweat
Cons of using glass baby bottle:
Cannot be used for boiling & heating purposes
Hard to clean
Soft material; easily scratch–able
Can absorb odour
Made using petroleum

Cradle Vs PET Bottles
According journalist Eric Goldschein, the United States drank 9 billion gallons of water in 2008
(Business Insider). Therefore, in order to prevent access waste and build up of plastic from the water
bottles, many different varieties of reusable water bottles on the market today advertise the message
of an eco–friendly product. This message, however, can be easily adulterated and twisted in the
manufacturer's favor for simply business purposes, thus promoting bottles that have only the perk of
being used many times before they are eventually discarded, ultimately falsifying the term
"reusable". When compared to the message of perpetual reusability, as well as the "five steps to eco–
effectiveness," put forth in the book Cradle to Cradle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although reusable plastics are more resistant to the factors that cause this limitation, it does not
mean plastic products fall prey to off gassing. Factors such as sun exposure, microwave radiation,
and the heat from being washed in a dishwasher all help contribute to plastic off gassing. Some
BPA–free reusable bottles have even been found to contain and release estrogen–like synthetics that
are even more harmful than the ever feared BPA. Reusable bottles also have a mechanical flaw:
structure. Despite their impact resistant guarantee, if they hit a surface hard enough they can, and
will crack. Obviously if the bottle gains a major structural flaw such as a crack it is going to be
thrown away by the owner and find itself in a landfill amongst its PET cousins, free to leak its
chemicals into the surrounding environment.
Bottle manufacturers should stop using plastic in general. Plastic bottles, especially PET plastic
bottles, have a nasty tendency to off gas, thus releasing dangerous chemicals into the users drink.
These chemicals rage from antimony to phthalates, as well as other endocrine disrupters and
synthetic estrogens. This leaching of harmful chemicals is the cause of the plastic bottles popularity
decline. Nonetheless, there are many other styles of drink bottle to choose from, ranging from glass
to stainless

Sample Resume On Liquids And Liquids
5 min.
Introduction/Motivation:
Activate prior knowledge–"Alright friends, we are going to learn some more about liquids. Who can
tell me something they know about liquids? We have been learning a lot about solids and liquids but
I want to know what you remember about liquids."
Tell students that you will be picking three students to say what they know about liquids. This will
speed up the time and will make sure all the activities are experienced.
"Yes liquids can be see–through. Another way to say see–through is transparent."
"Alright two more facts about liquids." Hold up two fingers to visually show how many more
students will be chosen.
"Yes! Liquids pour. Do some liquids pour faster than other liquids? Do some liquids pour slower
than others?"
Hold one finger up to symbolize that one student will talk and then we will move on.
"One more fact about liquids. Raise your hands."
"Yes liquids can be bubbly. What is an example of a liquid that is bubbly?"
"Pop is a bubbly liquid! I like how you were able to remember facts about liquids!"
Communicate the learning objective–"Today we are still going to focus on liquids but in a different
way. We are going to learn about the level of liquids while they are in a container. We are going to
have different centers that focus on the liquids inside containers with different activity. We will be
measuring water, cutting and gluing, and coloring today in our groups."

What Is The Impact Of Bottled Water On The Environment
The United States is constantly saying to go green. "Going green means to pursue knowledge and
practices that can lead to more environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible decisions and
lifestyles" (Going Green). There are a variety ways that people can go green. One specific way they
can do this is by not using plastic water bottles. Bottled water is a worldwide item used in a person's
everyday life. It is so commonly used even though it is far more costly than filtered water or tap
water, and even sometimes gasoline. Bottled water has a significant impact on the environment, as
well as the health of individuals. It is important to understand what exactly the impact of bottled
water has on the universe today. People try and say that bottled water is safer, more convenient, and
helps provide employment in numerous ways. Bottled water may be purer than water from the tap,
but it comes with a price. It may employ people, but in comparison to the price of manufacturing
and selling water bottles, it is a small amount. Plastic water bottles are prohibiting the United States
from going green by negatively destructing our environment, hurting the economy and harming
human lives.
Bottled water is affecting the environment in a negative way. Most individuals in the Unites States
have access to tap water, yet everyone would rather drink water from a bottle. The logic to buying
bottled water is usually either because a person does not like the smell or taste of tap water, or

The Bottle-nosed Dolphin Essay
The Bottle–nosed Dolphin is the most studied and generally the best–known species of dolphin.
Bottle–nosed dolphins are classified "Tursiops truncates" in scientific name, and belong
to the family Delphinidae, in the suborder Odontoceti, order Cetacea.
This animal is a very intelligent individual. Bottle–nosed dolphins are commonly found in zoos or
marine parks because of their capability to perform tricks. They can jump through hoops 5 meters
high because of their incredibly powerful tail. As well as jumping, Bottle–nosed dolphins can raise
themselves upright out of the water and travel backwards, by threshing their tails.

Bottle–nosed dolphins live for 30 to 50 years and grow from about a 6–inch calf, up to 10–foot long
mature adult in some cases. The female Bottle–nosed dolphin has a gestation period of 12 months
long, after which the mother nurses the calf for about 18 months. During this period, the calf will
learn practical skills such as how to find and capture food, how to recognize other dolphins. Bottle–
nosed dolphins have a multimale, multifemale mating society. There no aggression when it comes to
mating from either male or female.
Generally, Bottle–nosed dolphins are a dark gray or black colour above, with a lighter colour on its
stomach, which can change to a flushed pink colour in warm water. These animals have a
prominent, curved back fin with a thin trailing edge that readily tatters. The Bottle–nosed dolphin
gets its name from its rostrum, which is shaped like a bottle.
Bottle–nosed dolphins were hunted in the 19th and 20th century for their skin, but now are a legally

The Benefits Of Plastic Bottles
Introduction: Have you ever wondered where plastic bottles goes after being use, Guess what? I
have the answer for that. Most plastic bottles go to a landfill, and only 23% get recycled (Bottle of
water fact). Most of the bottles that don't get recycle end up in Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which is
located to the west of North America to Japan or it can end up at a landfill (live life healthy). As
result it is a huge problem for the environment. One reason is that plastic takes hundreds of years to
decompose and it also contains bad chemicals like biphobes which can alter the function of the
human's endocrine system. Biphobes can alter the function of the endocrine system by copying the
role of the body's natural hormones. The chemicals that plastic has doesn't only affect humans,
plastic also affects the environment. Disposing of bottles is a huge problem today's world. All
landfills around the world are getting to their limit. therefore, people need to reduce the waste of
disposal. This is the reason why I have created a new method to help conserve our planet. Product
description I have created the most fantastic bottles in the entire world. These bottles will reduce the
waste of disposing of plastic bottles. These bottles are called Symeco Smart bottles. These bottles
have many capabilities that will attract a lot of people, the most important part of these bottles is that

Grendel Character Analysis
When first reading through the book it is hard to fully comprehend and understand what the author
is using Grendel to get the reader to understand. Even still there are many parts and pieces of the
story and everyone has different thoughts or theories about it. As the author takes us through
Grendel 's story it is easy to feel sympathy for such a creature who is portrayed as a villain due to his
stranger appearance. Eventually it is due to how the humans treat him and are frightened of him that
truly pushes him over the edge to becoming the villain they fear him to be. Personally I believe that
is the point of the story to show us how we treat others around us may ultimately lead to harm.
Given that Grendel is originally a villain from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course everyone has choices and realistically Grendel made some pretty stupid decisions. You'd
be fully justified in believing that him to be the villain, truly, perhaps it's simply the author 's fault
for falling into the 'every great hero needs a monster to fight' trap, mayhaps it be the circumstance of
his birth. However the blame for his descent into violence and killing humans should also be blamed
on the humans themselves who make no effort to attempt to understand or communicate with him.
Maybe it was just the time period the story was set, in but the humans are depicted as violent and
ignorant, worshiping false gods and practicing pointless religions, according to Grendel, but can you
truly say something similar would not happen in this day and age? Grendel would be hunted down,
lauded as a monster, a murder, and an abomination. Taken in by scientists to be dissected and
studied. In both times given his monstrous appearance, Grendel would be unable to live his life to
the fullest and his angst in the story reflects that though he desires knowledge being unable to
communicate with the humans and his mother leaves him alone and emotionally stunted. He does
not have an outlet so to speak to pour out his conflicting emotions too and this lets him bottle it up
inside and he lacks the understanding to know what he is feeling and how he should react.

Essay On Breastfeeding
Is Breastfeeding Best? There are 4 million babies born in the United States every day. A great deal
of these are mothers who struggle with the decision to breastfeed or bottle feed. There is advantages
and disadvantages for both. It really is up to the mother to decide. Breastfeeding can be very
important in the first couple months of a child's life. Breast milk contains vigorous infection fighting
white blood cells and natural chemicals that give increased protection against infections (Benaroch,
2014). Breast milk can also prevent against sudden infant death syndrome, famously known as
SIDS. This milk contains the perfect amount of nutrients including protein, carbohydrates, fat, and
calcium. Milk can be hard for a baby to digest but breast milk makes it easier for a baby. Scientists
also believe that breast milk will help protect against allergies, asthma, and obesity in the future
(Benaroch, 2014). This milk also contains fatty acids to help promote brain development in babies.

Investigating The Co2 And Temperature Changes From The...
In this investigation, we were required to design our own self–sustaining ecosystem, and monitor the
changes in temperature and CO2 levels. We compared the outside temperature and CO2 levels, to
those of our ecosystem. Self–sustaining ecosystems are in the process of being designed tested, so
that one day humans will be able to survive and thrive on other planets, like Mars. The outcome of
our ecosystem was a failure, like all other previous attempts. Our ecosystem was too hot and had too
higher CO2 levels, to be able to sustain the life of insects, and grow plants. This was because, we
did not have enough fresh water, going into all the layers and fresh oxygen, as a result of no
greenery growing. I believe, if we placed grown plants in our bottle at the start of our experiment,
we would have had a very different outcome. Aim:
In this practical we are going to investigate the CO2 and temperature changes from the outside
environment, compared to our ecosystem in a bottle. We are also creating a fully self–sustaining
ecosystem in a bottle, which needs to grow a type of plant and provide a habitable environment for
an insect/animal.
Hypothesis:
I believe that the temperature and CO2 levels inside our ecosystem will be a lot higher than outside
the bottle. I also do not think that our insects or plants will survive and thrive, because there is not
enough oxygen in the bottle, and it is too hot. Other groups that have plants and water in their bottle,
will have lower CO2

Controversy Over The Use Of Plastic Water Bottles
Water is essential for life and without it, all living things will perish. In recent times, the use of
plastic water bottles has increased. These come in different sizes, from small practical and portable
hand held bottles to larger ones used in water coolers. Whilst water is important, the use of plastic
water bottles should be banned. This is because precious natural resources are used to manufacture
these bottles, and plastic water bottles are a big health risk. Also, pollution is generated during the
manufacturing process and after the bottles are used, as they are not biodegradable.
At first, plastic water bottles are a big waste of precious minerals, such as oil. According to "behind
the news" each bottle contains 200ml ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After used plastic water bottles get burnt or go in the sea, plus the whole manufacturing process
causes pollution. When plastic water bottles are burnt they become harmful greenhouse gasses, and
slowly break up the atmosphere. When these bottles get in the sea they pollute the sea causing
habitat destruction and sea creatures to die. Taking out the oil causes pollution and transporting the
bottle causes pollution. From America 38 billion water bottles are sent to landfills, and 6 out of 7
bottles are thrown away and downcycled. Last but not least, plastic bottled water can a big health
risk. This is because when we we burn the plastic, harmful chemicals are formed that we breathe in.
Plus these plastic water bottles contain harmful chemicals such as Bisphenol A which increases the
chances of having learning and behavior isuse, breast cancer and diabetes. Plus plastic water bottles
contain Phthalates which increases the chances of having liver cancer. Though if plastic bottles are
left in the sun, more harmful chemicals form. In conclusion, we have learnt that plastic bottles are
not necessary and the effects of plastic bottles are changing humans and the Earth, in a bad way.
Therefore you shouldn't drink from plastic water bottles. Instead why not just drink from a water tap
or buy a metal

Plastic Water Bottles Persuasive Essay
In 2015 the average American used about 167 plastic water bottles but only recycled about 38 of
those 167 (banthebottle.net). This shows that every year, the average person purchases a large
amount of plastic water bottles but only recycles around ⅓ of them. The energy thrown away in
plastic water bottles would be enough to power 190,000 homes (banthebottle.net). This means that,
while some people do not even have enough power to turn on the lights in their house, energy is just
being thrown away instead of being recycled. Should people use less plastic water bottles? Yes,
people should use less plastic water bottles. The history and supporting information do relate to the
Catholic Social Teaching theme of Care for God's Creation because Americans use so many plastic
bottles but only recycle a small amount of them, and a lot of energy is wasted or thrown away when
plastic bottles are thrown away instead of recycled. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bisphenol A: The Problems With Plastic Bottles
The Problem With Plastic Bottles
There are a lot of problems with using plastic water bottles. One of those problems is Bisphenol A
(BPA). A lot of health problems have been heavily linked to BPA, including brain problems,
premature birth, less fertility in women, defects in newborn babies, and some types of cancer. There
was a study which showed that 96% of women had BPA in their bodies. Water bottles also have
phthalates. Phthalates are used to make polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which makes bottles more
flexible. However, it does harm to the human body. PVC has a chemical called dioxin, which
disrupts the human reproductive system, as well as messing up the hormones of the endocrine
system.

However, getting tap water from the fridge can be even more helpful! There won't be any chemicals

And the killing of animals. And the pollution in the ocean. And the litter all over our environment.
There are many, many, many reasons to not use bottled water. It will hurt animals in the ocean,
pollute our oceans, and will pollute our environment. If saving the environment and keeping it clean
matters, then we should listen to the following: Use a glass or something reuseable for when you're

Water Bottle Issue
Water Bottle Issue
There has been multiple water bottle issues at Windham Middle school lately. The water bottle
flipping trend has been banned on school grounds, but it continues to happen. Another problem
involving water bottles are that some people have been pouring waters onto people's heads in
revenge. These problems can have big effects on some people. The first topic is the water bottle flip
challenge, which is where you toss and flip a water bottle trying to land it right side up. In the
beginning of the school year this was ok to flip the water bottles but the students were flipping the
water bottles every where. Teachers have gotten fed up with this trend so Mr. Patin, the principal of
the school, decided to ban flipping water

Global Warming Lab
Climate change is a critical issue that affects the Earth in a large–scale way. Humankind is primarily
responsible for the Earth's warming. Understanding why climate change is happening is crucial to be
able to decipher solutions.
Gases such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane all "have the ability to absorb thermal
energy (heat) emitted by the earth and thus are able to warm the atmosphere" ("Greenhouse Gases").
This warming is known as the "greenhouse effect." The majority of greenhouse gases are a result of
humans burning fossil fuels to create energy. With more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the
Earth's climate is becoming warmer, leading to threatening consequences for the planet's population.
For this experiment, we analyzed how various gases react to heat in an effort to understand climate
change. These gases include dry air, CO2, H2O (water vapor), and CH4 ... Show more content on

We put dry air, CO2, H2O (water vapor), and CH4 (Methane) each in separate, identical, empty
water bottles. To create the dry air bottle, we just tightened a cap on an empty bottle. For the bottle
with CO2, we used a combination of baking soda and vinegar. This combination produces a reaction
that releases CO2. We simply poured the gas from this reaction into a bottle and tightened the cap.
For the bottle with water vapor, we put a wet rolled paper towel into the bottle then tightened the
cap. Professor Corbin prepared the methane (CH4) bottle with a gas jet. After creating the bottles,
we measured the initial temperature of each bottle through small holes in the caps. Throughout the
entire experiment, we were careful to keep the thermometer's wire suspended in the middle of the
bottle and not touching the side of the bottle. We also recorded the starting room temperature. We set
up each bottle so that they were 9–12 inches away from the light bulb. We were careful to keep each

The Bottle Bill
Introduction In the 2014 gubernational election, the second ballot question received plenty of
publicity. The bottle bill was up for a referendum, the question was based upon the expansion of the
bottle bill. The expansion involved the addition of several different vocabulary terms that were not
incorporated in the original bottle bill and adding several clauses to expand the effect of the bill. The
opposition believed that expanding the bottle bill is not the solution to the lacking recycling
resources available in the Commonwealth. The group for the expansion focused its campaign on the
projected impact this would have on littering and the economic benefit. I think both campaigns
failed to include recycling in the restaurant industry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Original Bottle Bill vs Expansion
The original bottle bill was passed in 1981, after being vetoed by Governor Ed King. Three years
after the bottle bill passed, Massachusetts had recycled thirty five billion containers ( ). MassPrig led
a coalition to gain legislature support to ensure the passing of the bottle bill. The bottle bill was
created into three sections, Chapter 94 Section 321, Chapter 94 Section 322, and Chapter 94 Section
323. Section 321 laid out the definitions for the legal terms used to create the concepts in the two
sections that follow. Section 322 states the bottle deposit amount and what it covers. Section 323
and it's sub–sections outlined the provisions for the distributors to follow when selling plastic
containers, the appropriate way to accept recyclable items from a consumer, and what the state
would do with business that are below their quota ( ). In 2003, Mitt Romney led an effort to utilize
forfeited nickel deposits as a supplement to the state's general fund instead of the environmental
funded created under the original bottle bill. The proposed bottle bill expansion wanted to expand
the definition of "beverage." The new definition would include non–carbonated and non–alcoholic
beverages intended for human consumption. They also wanted to add the definition of a redemption

few tricks to help get rid of dirt deep inside a tall vessel. First of all, simply soak the bottle in very
hot water. This will loosen up the dirt. Secondly, pour in 1–2 teaspoons of dried brown rice along
with a dash of dish soap. Fill the bottle about 1/3 of the way with hot water, and shake the bottle
vigorously (holding your thumb over the top). Another alternative to the brown rice is sand or
crushed egg shells. You may have to repeat this procedure a few times to get all of the dirt out of the
bottom of your receptacle. Recycling Glass Bottles is Good for the Environment Re–using bottles is

Square Containers : Better For Logistics
Square Containers: Better for Logistics
Water bottles are one of the common daily uses by human being around the world. Based on recent
studies, the production rate of water bottles increased by 9.5% annually between 1976 and 2013 [1].
The round shape of water bottle is the most popular globally, but changing the water bottle from
round to square could be better in most cases. For this reason, studying the shape of the bottle is an
important task because changing the shape will affect some factors such as, mount of material
needed to produce a water bottle, strength, and shipping efficiency.
Putting round water bottles beside each other in a square box leads to empty spaces between the
bottles, so 100% of the box space is not utilized. This leads to using more boxes to ship a specific
number of round bottles and more trucks to ship the round bottles. In order to solve the box
utilization problem, switching the water bottle to the square shape will increase the box utilization
because the empty spaces between bottles will eliminated and the height of the bottle will be
reduced. Switching the water bottle to square leads to reduce the height of the bottle, which leads to
increase the utilization of the truck, so since more level of boxes will be allowed to be added in the
truck. These changes leads to increase the efficiency of the shipping.
Some companies have already used the same principle to improve their objectives. For instance, Fiji

The Best Alternative Bottle Water V. Tap Water
The Best Alternative Bottle Water V. Tap Water
In the essay Bad To the Last Drop the author Standage claims that people are wasting money on
bottled water when there is no difference between it and tap water. Water is the one thing that all
humans need; it is an essential element to keeping us alive because it helps our bodies stay hydrated
and helps regulate temperature by creating sweat. The different ways that people receive water
varies, but the two leading ways to acquire water in first world countries is from the tap or buying
bottles of water from stores. These two methods of getting water are very popular in America and
Canada because many people believe that tap water is sanitary and that it isn't for drinking only for
doing things like washing dishes, cleaning, and other tasks so they drink bottle water. While others
think that bottle water is the worst option because it causes environmental issues and it isn't safer
than tap water so they drink tap water. I also agree with his claim because bottled water is not safer
than tap water, it causes major environmental issues, and huge resource issues.
Many people believe that drinking water should be for one purpose only which is drinking which is
why they buy bottled water to drink and use the tap water for other task such as washing, watering
plants, etc.. But what many people fail to realize is that tap water isn't as dirty as it is thought to be.

Let’s Look At This Realistically: What to do about Bottled...
Depending on the criteria used for evaluation, plastic water bottles can be seen in a largely positive
or negative light. When looking at the problems with bottled water, we consider the environment,
cost and health concerns that apply to bottled water. On the other hand, plastic water bottles can be
seen in a positive light when the nutritional value and convenience are measured. For these reasons,
water bottles are a good thing but they don't necessarily outweigh the negative effects of bottled
water. A few solutions have been made–up to try and solve the problem but only one of them really
works. Though water is healthy, plastic water bottles are not worth the money they use and damage
they cause to the environment and to our health. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4) There is an enormous amount of waste circulating through our oceans that can endanger marine
life. Green also uses an example of a baby Laysan, which is a bird, found dead in Hawaii. With
further investigation it was discovered that the insides of the bird were filled with bits of plastic
including bottle caps. (Green, 2012) Not only is marine life endangered by plastic waste, all species
of animals are in danger. The bright colors can draw animals to eat the trash and cause further
problems from there. Water bottles last a long time so it gives more opportunity to cause harm. It
can take hundreds of years for the bottles to decompose. That leaves many wasted products that
could be reused to take up space and ruin the environment.
Those against water bottles also ague that a large amount of resources needed to make a plastic

points out that, " Virgin petroleum is used to make PET, and the more bottles we use, the more
virgin petroleum will be needed to create new bottles." (2008, p.4) With the ever–increasing sales of
bottled water, more petroleum must be used. Its takes fuel to manufacture fill and ship the bottles.

The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bottles
Do you know what happens to water bottles after you've thrown them away? Have you considered
recycling and what that does to the environment? Well when you throw away a water bottle, you're
basically throwing away plastic, so it takes years on end to biodegrade in the landfills that they are
taken to after being thrown away. Then they release toxic additives, such as phthalates, in the
environment destroying the ecosystem and water around it as it is trying to break down. But if you
recycle the bottles they are put into factories where they're recycled into more bottles or something
else to be used again without harming the environment. But despite the drawbacks people still buy

And to further persuade the audience, the author uses logos, which is the persuasive appeal that
includes facts. For instance, in the article, it states, "Between 2000 and 2014, per capita bottled–

piece of evidence from the article means is that the bottled water consumption has more than
doubled in the past 14–17 years which isn't good for the environment. This piece of evidence uses

Water Bottles And Its Effects On Human Health
Water bottles have become a staple in American life. Often times we will buy a bottle with lunch
because it is healthier than the advertised alternative, soda. In reality, while water bottles may be
healthier than soda, they can cause the same, if not more, damage in the long term. The plastic used
for water and soda bottles alike have drastic effects on both human health and the environment but
water bottles are worse because they are a completely unnecessary product. In America a majority of
citizens have access to clean tap water which they neglect to use for various reasons, despite it
potentially being safer. Water bottles, despite what companies have convinced you to think, are
actually terrible for the environment and can have adverse health effects.
Let's begin by talking about the damage caused by water bottle production. First, there is a massive
waste of water just to produce the bottle. According to environmental journalist Norm Schriever, it
takes three times the volume of water to manufacture one bottle of water than it does to fill it. The
sad part is that the water is used during the chemical production phase of plastic development,
leaving the water mostly unusable due to remnant chemicals from the process. Besides wasting
precious, limited water, bottled water production also wastes copious amounts of oil. 17 million
barrels of oil are used to produce roughly 50 billion water bottles each year. That amount of oil is
equivalent to filling a million cars for

Water Drinks : The Negative Effects Of Plastic Water Bottles
The next time you are out for a run, walk, or bike ride, count the number of plastic bottles you see
on the ground. I have done this and it is mind boggling. The environmental concerns caused by
producing, distributing, and disposing of plastic water bottles is under scrutiny by various public
interest groups. The negative impact of plastic water bottles on our environment is real and requires
action. The production of these bottles needs to stop because they pose an ongoing threat to the
health of the environment. One main reason plastic water bottles should not be produced is because
they create a health risk to the environment. Plastic bottles are made of a petroleum product known
as PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) and these bottles require large amounts of fossil fuel to make
and transport them. Even though fossil fuel is a major energy source used in the world today,
overconsumption can lead to serious environmental issues such as air pollution. According to the
journal article "Message in the Bottle," it is estimated that the total energy needed to make,
transport, and dispose of one plastic bottle of water is equivalent to filling the same bottle one–
quarter full of oil. This is a great deal of oil to produce just one nonreusable water bottle. It also
takes three liters of water to produce a one–liter plastic bottle of water ("Message in a Bottle"). In
addition to this, it can take plastic bottles up to five hundred years to decompose, and during the

Persuasive Essay On Refillable Water Bottles
The reason for millions of people using plastic water bottles is that everyone needs to drink water.
However, many people do not know that a plastic bottle can be more harmful than beneficial for the
drinker's health. Refillable water bottles (which may be plastic but are made for refillable use)
should be used instead of plastic bottles because they are cheaper, healthier, and better for the Earth.
Refillable water bottles may seem expensive, but in the long run it will be much cheaper. "On
average, Americans spend about $5 a week on bottled water, this means you can save $260 per year
by switching to a reusable water bottle" (Speer par. 5). This statistic shows just how much the
average American (the world wide statistic was not available) can save yearly, let alone in a lifetime.
This statistic also does not include the average money a year a person spends on soda pop, tea,
coffee, or other drinks that could be put into the refillable bottle if they are bought in bulk. Many
people say they do not have money to buy a nice refillable water bottle, but most people do have the
money it would take to buy an eight dollar Contigo refillable bottle from Walmart that would do the
job. Up to one fifth of Americans have tap water that is not drinkable (Karp par. 1). However, there
are refillable water bottles with filters. Refillable water bottles with filters may be more expensive,
but it is easy to find a cheap one at Walmart. For example someone could buy a ten dollar Brita filter
water bottle. Investing in a refillable bottle will already save someone money after one month of
use.
Refilling a plastic bottle can have unforeseen consequences. Using a refillable water bottle is better
for the drinker's health than drinking out of plastic bottles only meant to be used once because they
are not good quality."Plastic bottles contain a harmful substance called polyethylene terephthalate,
or PET, which is dangerous to human health" ("Think" par. 2). If that is not a serious enough reason,
there are even more chemicals that are found in plastic bottles. "BPA has been connected to cases of
hormonal issues and even cancer" (Speer par. 4). No one should be consuming harmful chemicals.
Use of plastic bottles, whether for

Negative Effects Of Water Bottles
Not many people think that drinking an innocent water bottle causes such a major effect. Water
bottles in our society have such a great effect that people don't even realize it. When you throw away
a water bottle, it's harmless right? Well, you're wrong if you think it doesn't harm the earth. Many
people don't consider to start recycling, but should start because of how it protects the environment,
as to just throwing away the water bottles. In addition, using water bottles yet is a good decision
because if you use the water fountains, it is just basically faucet water. Yet, i think water bottles
should not be used in our society. To start with, article "Goodbye, Bottled Water?", it introduces you
to the importance of how bottled water negatively affects the environment. Whenever you throw
away a water bottle, you're causing more harm to the environment. Water bottles are made up of
plastic, so when it goes to the landfills, it is releasing chemicals that aren't supposed to be released
onto earth. The author of the article uses logos and ethos to get the reader to understand how
negative the impact of water bottles are. The way the author uses logos is because he uses facts,
talking about the amount of bottles are in landfills and also the harm it causes earth. The author also
uses ethos because of the mayor of San Francisco, he understands the information about plastic
bottles. Since he deals with the city's landfill and manages the city, he himself has information on
the situation.
In the text it states, "According to a statement from the Mayor's office, 'More than 1 billion plastic

toxic additives such as phthalates into the groundwater.'" (Hennessey) In other words, this is proving
how the article is using both logos, talking about the statistics of plastic water bottles.
The article "Water, Water Everywhere–in bottles" talks about how customers who buy the water
bottles, cannot go a day without having one because of how much they are used to having the water
bottles. For example it says, "In a December poll by Mintel, 29% of bottled water drinkers said they
would 'feel strange' not always having

Persuasive Essay On Reusable Water Bottles
"Plastic water bottles are littered on the coasts of waterways and the side of the road more often than
they make it to a recycle bin. The difference between throwing an apple on the ground and throwing
a disposable water bottle on the ground is that plastic is impossibly hard to decompose. Plastic in the
natural environment takes 450 years to decompose, and can take up to 1000 years in a landfill"
(Reise). Schools should require students to bring their own reusable water bottles and schools
should stop selling plastic bottles. There are many benefits to reusable water bottles including being
better for one's health, not buying plastic bottles saves money, and helps the environment. One may
argue that not selling plastic bottles at school ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Students are responsible enough to bring their own bottles. Removing plastic bottles from schools
will not only have an impact on the environment, it will improve the health of students from tap

or at lunch to keep up with the trend of using reusable bottles. In the meantime, students can stop
buying plastic bottles and bring their own reusable bottles wherever they

Bottled Water Safe

  • 1. Bottled Water Safe Every year worldwide, 72 billion gallons of water are used just to make empty plastic water bottles. In the article, "Are the Bottles Safe," details are given about how clean and safe bottled tap water really is. Bottled water has more health risks and is more environmentally harmful than drinking tap water in a reusable bottle. When bottles of water are stored incorrectly, the water can become unsafe to drink. When this water is stored in too hot or cold of a temperature, the chemicals from the water bottle's plastic may leach into the water itself. Antimony is a harmful toxic material used in making PET used for water bottles. When there are high concentrations of antimony in your water, it can lead to nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. "Leaving bottled water out in the car changes the chemical equilibrium so that the materials from the plastic go into the water faster," says Ken Smith. The more heat a water bottle is exposed to, the quicker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "But no one should think that bottled water is better regulated, better protected or safer than tap," says Eric Goldstein. Most people don't know that they are drinking "glorified tap water" when they are drinking a bottle of water that claims it is from a pristine source but is actually from a public water source. About 25% of bottled water comes from municipal supply. Water coming from areas near hazardous sources sell water to bottlers. This water may then be passed off as "spring water" or "pure glacier water." Drinking water that is packaged in plastic bottles has more wasteful and harmful than drinking water from the tap. Water bottles left in hot temperatures can release unhealthy chemicals into the plastic into your drink. Using water from the tap can prevent billions of plastic water bottles from harming the earth. Bottled water isn't a premium as you think. About 25% of water in bottles comes from municipal sources that may come from harmful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Use Of Ohh 's Water Bottle Essay a. The first and new to the world feature that H2–Ohh's water bottle has is the ability to take and display a person's heart rate. Heart health is essential to those working out. When a person wants to work out, are they doing too much or not enough? Knowing your target heart rate helps hit the bull's eye to achieve one's goal. This will in turn help consumers who are choosing to lose weight, to get their resting heart rate down, or to control their cardio and fat burn workouts. The water bottle will have a heart rate monitor on the grip that will display on the front of the water bottle whenever the heart rate monitor is activated. b. Another key factor in achieving one's goal is the amount of water consumed. Keeping track of how much water will become easier with this new water bottle. There is technology that measures how much water is in the bottle throughout the day and measures when water leaves and enters the bottle. The amount in ounces will be recorded and saved on the app needed for the water bottle. The app will also help set alarms to remind the person to drink water throughout the day in order to reach their set goals. When setting up the app there must be information put in and the app will utilize that and put it into an algorithm. The information it will take into account will be the user 's age, weight, height, and exercise patterns. It will be easy to automatically assess their water consumption needs and will alert to drink an appropriate level of water. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Causes Of Human Laziness And The Environment The amount of laziness a human exhibits seems to have a positive correlation with the amount of pollution that the human gives off. The start of human laziness dates back all the to the start of the human race. Research has shown that humans are biologically born with laziness, but the amount of laziness differs between humans (Hreha). The greatest danger to the environment is human laziness. Being lazy is a great thing because so much time is saved. Time may be saved, but in exchange, the environment gets destroyed instead. Driving a car to work may be faster, but it also destroys the environment so much faster. Biking to the store serves the same purpose and it saves the environment greatly. Cars are a huge contributor to global warming. Cars and trucks combined are responsible for one–fifth of all US emissions. They release about 24 pounds of carbon dioxide and other global warming gases for every gallon of gas used (Union of Concerned Scientists). About five pounds of those gases come from production, extraction, and delivery of gasoline. More than 19 pounds are released per gallon from a car's tailpipe (Union of Concerned Scientists). 1.2 billion cubic yards of polluted air is from manufacture. Painting and coating cars produces 40 million pounds of air releases and 24 million pounds of hazardous waste a year. A car's lifetime produces 1.3 billion cubic yard of polluted air and scatters 40 pounds of worn tire particles, brake debris, and worn road surface into the atmosphere (Bike to Work Day). Pollutants released a year add up to over 12,140 lbs for cars and 17,000 for light trucks. Some of those pollutants are carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides (Bike to Work Day). By choosing to bike or walk instead of drive, the amount of gases and waste contributing to global warming, drops drastically. Choosing to drive instead of taking a greener form of transportation is a great threat to the environment. Plastic water bottles are seen and consumed everywhere. Without knowing the deadly effects that water bottles have on the environment, consumers will keep buying them and contribute to the problem. Last year, according to source one, 38 billion water bottles ended up in in landfills to pollute our environment. There is only one solution to this crisis. . . Ban water bottles! First of all, water bottles use up fuel. This is what powers our homes and starts our cars. It would be devastating if their were no fuel left. . . According to source one, it takes 17 billion barrels of crude oil to make these bottles a year. 190,000 homes could be powered with that much oil. Next, water bottles are expensive. For example, from source one, it costs over one billion dollars a year to make the bottles. Who would want to spend that much cash on plastic! Also according to source one, the regular 8 glasses of tap water a year adds up to about $0.49. The same amount of water in bottles costs 1,400! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 12. The Importance Of Plastic Bottles Plastic Bottles? Not In My State Imagine walking through the streets of the city that you love and grew up in. It is filled with beautiful scenery, buildings, and has a rich history with many memories attached. The only problem is, there are plastic bottles lining the streets. Since plastic is not biodegradable, this could potentially be everyone's future if changes are not made now. Many states in America have implemented bottle bills, but there are also many states that have decided to not be a part of the bottle bill trend. Every state in America should implement a bottle bill to improve the economy and the environment. In the article, "Recycling" Found on the website "Opposing Viewpoints In Context", the definition of a bottle bill is given: Bottle bills are laws that require a surcharge, usually a nickel or a dime, to be charged on certain beverages (beer, soda, sometimes bottled water). This money is collected by sellers and bottlers. When consumers return the beverage containers, they are given back the deposit in cash. The first bottle bill in North America was passed in the Canadian province of British Columbia in 1970; in 1971, Oregon became the first U.S. state to pass a deposit law. By 1985, 10 states had passed deposit laws. Hawaii became the eleventh state with such a law in 2005. At that time, about 30% of the U.S. population lived in a deposit–law state. Now there are only 11 states in America that have bottle bills, which also means there are 39 states ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Cradle Vs PET Bottles According journalist Eric Goldschein, the United States drank 9 billion gallons of water in 2008 (Business Insider). Therefore, in order to prevent access waste and build up of plastic from the water bottles, many different varieties of reusable water bottles on the market today advertise the message of an eco–friendly product. This message, however, can be easily adulterated and twisted in the manufacturer's favor for simply business purposes, thus promoting bottles that have only the perk of being used many times before they are eventually discarded, ultimately falsifying the term "reusable". When compared to the message of perpetual reusability, as well as the "five steps to eco– effectiveness," put forth in the book Cradle to Cradle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although reusable plastics are more resistant to the factors that cause this limitation, it does not mean plastic products fall prey to off gassing. Factors such as sun exposure, microwave radiation, and the heat from being washed in a dishwasher all help contribute to plastic off gassing. Some BPA–free reusable bottles have even been found to contain and release estrogen–like synthetics that are even more harmful than the ever feared BPA. Reusable bottles also have a mechanical flaw: structure. Despite their impact resistant guarantee, if they hit a surface hard enough they can, and will crack. Obviously if the bottle gains a major structural flaw such as a crack it is going to be thrown away by the owner and find itself in a landfill amongst its PET cousins, free to leak its chemicals into the surrounding environment. Bottle manufacturers should stop using plastic in general. Plastic bottles, especially PET plastic bottles, have a nasty tendency to off gas, thus releasing dangerous chemicals into the users drink. These chemicals rage from antimony to phthalates, as well as other endocrine disrupters and synthetic estrogens. This leaching of harmful chemicals is the cause of the plastic bottles popularity decline. Nonetheless, there are many other styles of drink bottle to choose from, ranging from glass to stainless ... • 20. What Is The Impact Of Bottled Water On The Environment The United States is constantly saying to go green. "Going green means to pursue knowledge and practices that can lead to more environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible decisions and lifestyles" (Going Green). There are a variety ways that people can go green. One specific way they can do this is by not using plastic water bottles. Bottled water is a worldwide item used in a person's everyday life. It is so commonly used even though it is far more costly than filtered water or tap water, and even sometimes gasoline. Bottled water has a significant impact on the environment, as well as the health of individuals. It is important to understand what exactly the impact of bottled water has on the universe today. Eventually it is due to how the humans treat him and are frightened of him that truly pushes him over the edge to becoming the villain they fear him to be. However the blame for his descent into violence and killing humans should also be blamed on the humans themselves who make no effort to attempt to understand or communicate with him. Maybe it was just the time period the story was set, in but the humans are depicted as violent and ignorant, worshiping false gods and practicing pointless religions, according to Grendel, but can you truly say something similar would not happen in this day and age? • 38. Investigating The Co2 And Temperature Changes From The... In this investigation, we were required to design our own self–sustaining ecosystem, and monitor the changes in temperature and CO2 levels. We compared the outside temperature and CO2 levels, to those of our ecosystem. Self–sustaining ecosystems are in the process of being designed tested, so that one day humans will be able to survive and thrive on other planets, like Mars. The outcome of our ecosystem was a failure, like all other previous attempts. Our ecosystem was too hot and had too higher CO2 levels, to be able to sustain the life of insects, and grow plants. This was because, we did not have enough fresh water, going into all the layers and fresh oxygen, as a result of no greenery growing. I believe, if we placed grown plants in our bottle at the start of our experiment, we would have had a very different outcome. Aim: In this practical we are going to investigate the CO2 and temperature changes from the outside environment, compared to our ecosystem in a bottle. We are also creating a fully self–sustaining ecosystem in a bottle, which needs to grow a type of plant and provide a habitable environment for an insect/animal. Hypothesis: I believe that the temperature and CO2 levels inside our ecosystem will be a lot higher than outside the bottle. I also do not think that our insects or plants will survive and thrive, because there is not enough oxygen in the bottle, and it is too hot. • 48. Global Warming Lab Climate change is a critical issue that affects the Earth in a large–scale way. Humankind is primarily responsible for the Earth's warming. Understanding why climate change is happening is crucial to be able to decipher solutions. Gases such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane all "have the ability to absorb thermal energy (heat) emitted by the earth and thus are able to warm the atmosphere" ("Greenhouse Gases"). This warming is known as the "greenhouse effect." The majority of greenhouse gases are a result of humans burning fossil fuels to create energy. With more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the Earth's climate is becoming warmer, leading to threatening consequences for the planet's population. This combination produces a reaction that releases CO2. We simply poured the gas from this reaction into a bottle and tightened the cap. For the bottle with water vapor, we put a wet rolled paper towel into the bottle then tightened the cap. Professor Corbin prepared the methane (CH4) bottle with a gas jet. Putting round water bottles beside each other in a square box leads to empty spaces between the bottles, so 100% of the box space is not utilized. This leads to using more boxes to ship a specific number of round bottles and more trucks to ship the round bottles. In order to solve the box utilization problem, switching the water bottle to the square shape will increase the box utilization because the empty spaces between bottles will eliminated and the height of the bottle will be reduced. Switching the water bottle to square leads to reduce the height of the bottle, which leads to increase the utilization of the truck, so since more level of boxes will be allowed to be added in the truck. These changes leads to increase the efficiency of the shipping. Some companies have already used the same principle to improve their objectives. For instance, Fiji Water uses a square shape of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 60. The Best Alternative Bottle Water V. Tap Water The Best Alternative Bottle Water V. Tap Water In the essay Bad To the Last Drop the author Standage claims that people are wasting money on bottled water when there is no difference between it and tap water. Water is the one thing that all humans need; it is an essential element to keeping us alive because it helps our bodies stay hydrated and helps regulate temperature by creating sweat. The different ways that people receive water varies, but the two leading ways to acquire water in first world countries is from the tap or buying bottles of water from stores. These two methods of getting water are very popular in America and Canada because many people believe that tap water is sanitary and that it isn't for drinking only for doing things like washing dishes, cleaning, and other tasks so they drink bottle water. While others think that bottle water is the worst option because it causes environmental issues and it isn't safer than tap water so they drink tap water. I also agree with his claim because bottled water is not safer than tap water, it causes major environmental issues, and huge resource issues. Many people believe that drinking water should be for one purpose only which is drinking which is why they buy bottled water to drink and use the tap water for other task such as washing, watering plants, etc.. But what many people fail to realize is that tap water isn't as dirty as it is thought to be. Tap water may be affected by contamination once in a while but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It's emotionally draining on me and it's all getting to be too much. A few weeks back there was a week where three out of the four days I worked a guest confronted me with a mistake; a mistake Cortez had made. Two people in the same week telling me that Cortez put in reservations for them yet nothing was in the system. One was a group of four rooms for the Coastal Electric group. • 66. Let’s Look At This Realistically: What to do about Bottled... Depending on the criteria used for evaluation, plastic water bottles can be seen in a largely positive or negative light. When looking at the problems with bottled water, we consider the environment, cost and health concerns that apply to bottled water. On the other hand, plastic water bottles can be seen in a positive light when the nutritional value and convenience are measured. For these reasons, water bottles are a good thing but they don't necessarily outweigh the negative effects of bottled water. A few solutions have been made–up to try and solve the problem but only one of them really works. Though water is healthy, plastic water bottles are not worth the money they use and damage they cause to the environment and to our health. ... Green also uses an example of a baby Laysan, which is a bird, found dead in Hawaii. With further investigation it was discovered that the insides of the bird were filled with bits of plastic including bottle caps. (Green, 2012) Not only is marine life endangered by plastic waste, all species of animals are in danger. The bright colors can draw animals to eat the trash and cause further problems from there. Water bottles last a long time so it gives more opportunity to cause harm. It can take hundreds of years for the bottles to decompose. That leaves many wasted products that could be reused to take up space and ruin the environment. Those against water bottles also ague that a large amount of resources needed to make a plastic water bottle. Today everyone seems to be very concerned about fossil fuels and what they are doing to our atmosphere. The production of bottled water only raises the amount of fuel we use. Jemmott points out that, " Virgin petroleum is used to make PET, and the more bottles we use, the more virgin petroleum will be needed to create new bottles." (2008, p.4) With the ever–increasing sales of bottled water, more petroleum must be used. Its takes fuel to manufacture fill and ship the bottles. On The Water Projects ... • 68. The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bottles Do you know what happens to water bottles after you've thrown them away? Have you considered recycling and what that does to the environment? Well when you throw away a water bottle, you're basically throwing away plastic, so it takes years on end to biodegrade in the landfills that they are taken to after being thrown away. Then they release toxic additives, such as phthalates, in the environment destroying the ecosystem and water around it as it is trying to break down. But if you recycle the bottles they are put into factories where they're recycled into more bottles or something else to be used again without harming the environment. But despite the drawbacks people still buy water bottles and, unfortunately, don't recycle. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, in the article, it states, "Between 2000 and 2014, per capita bottled– water consumption more than doubled to 34.02 gallons from 16.74 gallons... "(Esterl). What that piece of evidence from the article means is that the bottled water consumption has more than doubled in the past 14–17 years which isn't good for the environment. This piece of evidence uses logos because the author used statistics and facts to persuade the audience. Know, let's continue with an article called "Goodbye, Bottled Water?" by Gail Hennessey. The main idea of this article is that water bottles that don't get recycled bring danger to the environment like releasing toxic additives. The purpose of this article is that the author wants to show people that when you buy bottled, plastic water, the least that you can do is recycle them because if you throw them away, they can take thousands of years to biodegrade and while that happens they release toxic additives that can infect the groundwater and the ground. The author is talking to the people that buy lots of water bottles and throw them away instead of recycling. Hennessey, the author, claims, "The current count for this year shows more than 64 billion wasted cans and bottles." Then this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Water Bottles And Its Effects On Human Health Water bottles have become a staple in American life. Often times we will buy a bottle with lunch because it is healthier than the advertised alternative, soda. In reality, while water bottles may be healthier than soda, they can cause the same, if not more, damage in the long term. The plastic used for water and soda bottles alike have drastic effects on both human health and the environment but water bottles are worse because they are a completely unnecessary product. In America a majority of citizens have access to clean tap water which they neglect to use for various reasons, despite it potentially being safer. Water bottles, despite what companies have convinced you to think, are actually terrible for the environment and can have adverse health effects. Let's begin by talking about the damage caused by water bottle production. First, there is a massive waste of water just to produce the bottle. According to environmental journalist Norm Schriever, it takes three times the volume of water to manufacture one bottle of water than it does to fill it. The sad part is that the water is used during the chemical production phase of plastic development, leaving the water mostly unusable due to remnant chemicals from the process. Besides wasting precious, limited water, bottled water production also wastes copious amounts of oil. 17 million barrels of oil are used to produce roughly 50 billion water bottles each year. That amount of oil is equivalent to filling a million cars for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Water Drinks : The Negative Effects Of Plastic Water Bottles The next time you are out for a run, walk, or bike ride, count the number of plastic bottles you see on the ground. I have done this and it is mind boggling. The environmental concerns caused by producing, distributing, and disposing of plastic water bottles is under scrutiny by various public interest groups. The negative impact of plastic water bottles on our environment is real and requires action. The production of these bottles needs to stop because they pose an ongoing threat to the health of the environment. One main reason plastic water bottles should not be produced is because they create a health risk to the environment. Plastic bottles are made of a petroleum product known as PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) and these bottles require large amounts of fossil fuel to make and transport them. Even though fossil fuel is a major energy source used in the world today, overconsumption can lead to serious environmental issues such as air pollution. According to the journal article "Message in the Bottle," it is estimated that the total energy needed to make, transport, and dispose of one plastic bottle of water is equivalent to filling the same bottle one– quarter full of oil. This is a great deal of oil to produce just one nonreusable water bottle. It also takes three liters of water to produce a one–liter plastic bottle of water ("Message in a Bottle"). In addition to this, it can take plastic bottles up to five hundred years to decompose, and during the decomposition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Persuasive Essay On Refillable Water Bottles The reason for millions of people using plastic water bottles is that everyone needs to drink water. However, many people do not know that a plastic bottle can be more harmful than beneficial for the drinker's health. Refillable water bottles (which may be plastic but are made for refillable use) should be used instead of plastic bottles because they are cheaper, healthier, and better for the Earth. Refillable water bottles may seem expensive, but in the long run it will be much cheaper. "On average, Americans spend about $5 a week on bottled water, this means you can save $260 per year by switching to a reusable water bottle" (Speer par. 5). This statistic shows just how much the average American (the world wide statistic was not available) can save yearly, let alone in a lifetime. This statistic also does not include the average money a year a person spends on soda pop, tea, coffee, or other drinks that could be put into the refillable bottle if they are bought in bulk. Many people say they do not have money to buy a nice refillable water bottle, but most people do have the money it would take to buy an eight dollar Contigo refillable bottle from Walmart that would do the job. Up to one fifth of Americans have tap water that is not drinkable (Karp par. 1). However, there are refillable water bottles with filters. Refillable water bottles with filters may be more expensive, but it is easy to find a cheap one at Walmart. For example someone could buy a ten dollar Brita filter water bottle. Investing in a refillable bottle will already save someone money after one month of use. Refilling a plastic bottle can have unforeseen consequences. Using a refillable water bottle is better for the drinker's health than drinking out of plastic bottles only meant to be used once because they are not good quality."Plastic bottles contain a harmful substance called polyethylene terephthalate, or PET, which is dangerous to human health" ("Think" par. 2). If that is not a serious enough reason, there are even more chemicals that are found in plastic bottles. "BPA has been connected to cases of hormonal issues and even cancer" (Speer par. 4). No one should be consuming harmful chemicals. Use of plastic bottles, whether for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. Negative Effects Of Water Bottles Not many people think that drinking an innocent water bottle causes such a major effect. Water bottles in our society have such a great effect that people don't even realize it. When you throw away a water bottle, it's harmless right? Well, you're wrong if you think it doesn't harm the earth. Many people don't consider to start recycling, but should start because of how it protects the environment, as to just throwing away the water bottles. In addition, using water bottles yet is a good decision because if you use the water fountains, it is just basically faucet water. Yet, i think water bottles should not be used in our society. To start with, article "Goodbye, Bottled Water?", it introduces you to the importance of how bottled water negatively affects the environment. Whenever you throw away a water bottle, you're causing more harm to the environment. Water bottles are made up of plastic, so when it goes to the landfills, it is releasing chemicals that aren't supposed to be released onto earth. The author of the article uses logos and ethos to get the reader to understand how negative the impact of water bottles are. The way the author uses logos is because he uses facts, talking about the amount of bottles are in landfills and also the harm it causes earth. The author also uses ethos because of the mayor of San Francisco, he understands the information about plastic bottles. Since he deals with the city's landfill and manages the city, he himself has information on the situation. In the text it states, "According to a statement from the Mayor's office, 'More than 1 billion plastic water bottles end up in California's landfills each year, taking 1,000 years to biodegrade and leaking toxic additives such as phthalates into the groundwater.'" (Hennessey) In other words, this is proving how the article is using both logos, talking about the statistics of plastic water bottles. The article "Water, Water Everywhere–in bottles" talks about how customers who buy the water bottles, cannot go a day without having one because of how much they are used to having the water bottles. For example it says, "In a December poll by Mintel, 29% of bottled water drinkers said they would 'feel strange' not always having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. Persuasive Essay On Reusable Water Bottles "Plastic water bottles are littered on the coasts of waterways and the side of the road more often than they make it to a recycle bin. The difference between throwing an apple on the ground and throwing a disposable water bottle on the ground is that plastic is impossibly hard to decompose. Plastic in the natural environment takes 450 years to decompose, and can take up to 1000 years in a landfill" (Reise).
