the parts of a narrative in a month by
making their own story and dissecting it.

The Innocent Youth Good Versus Evil
The Mentor The Fall

Narrative Assessment
1. Describe the setting of your story.
2. Describe the plot of your story.
3. List the characters of your story and associate them with their
character types and archetypes.
4. Describe the plot of your story and describe the the correlating
structure components (exposition, rising action, resolution, etc)
5. Any terms don’t apply to your story (e.g. story doesn’t have an
antihero)? Think of other stories that do and list them as an
example and explain why.
Why this?
My hope: students will enjoy the opportunity to
express their creativity.
Why I think this will work: students largely have
control over what they do to fulfill the assignment.
Thy can see how the technical terms apply to their
own work. It is a concrete example, and it will help
deepen further discussions of literary work.

List the characters of your story and associate them with their character types and archetypes. 4. Describe the plot of your story and describe the the correlating structure components (exposition, rising action, resolution, etc) 5. Any terms don’t apply to your story (e.g. story doesn’t have an antihero)? Think of other stories that do and list them as an example and explain why.
  • 9. Why this? My hope: students will enjoy the opportunity to express their creativity. Why I think this will work: students largely have control over what they do to fulfill the assignment. Thy can see how the technical terms apply to their own work. It is a concrete example, and it will help deepen further discussions of literary work.
