Michael Young, like many middle-aged men, takes care of his
appearance and attitude. He often goes to the gym, as both exercise,
and to de-stress. His loving attitude to his wife and kids, is portrayed
through his constant wide mouthed smile. He looks like your average
smart dad, often found in a suave suit or checked shirt when he is not in
work mode. His light brown hair that slightly curls and his enticing yet
worried green/blue eyes automatically captures the audiences attention.
You see the transition from an excitable loving father, to the worried and
guilty victim. Not guilty because he committed a crime, but guilty because
he is the reason the family are going through excruciating torment.

4. Personality
Strengths: Michael Young is not only an admirable father, but he is loving and caring husband. His strength is the success he is able to
achieve at his workplace and his home. The reason the family have found themselves in this secluded neighbourhood, is because
Michael was promoted. Michaels tough childhood as an only child, has made him a hard and determined worker. He concentrates
significantly on the success in his occupation and the assurance that his family are safe and sound.
Weakness: Even though Michael spends his valuable time working for the better of himself and his family, he loses the precious
moments in the growing up of his family; this could be the downfall of his hard-working attitude. Unfortunately, it is a reflection of the
way he was treated as a young child. As the only child, there was less attention given to him. This sounds unusual, but Michael didn’t
grow up in the stereotypical household. His parents owned an Irish pub, so often spent days and nights serving the locals and never
really spared time to serve him. He simply grew up believing this was the life you are supposed to appreciate, which can explain his
constant late nights at the office.
What makes this character unique: Michael Young is a unique individual because he is always so positive and optimistic. In a
horror/thriller film, having such an upbeat attitude never really saves you, instead it often makes you the victim. Throughout the movie,
Michael Young is oblivious to the strange events taking place in the house, this is because he is so positive, he would never suspect his
next door neighbours were the reason for all the strange events.
Motivations: Michael Young is motivated by the love of his family and the idea of a perfect life. He is determined to achieve the very
best from his work which is why he and his family, picked up their entire life, and moved it for his job. He is also motivated by his wife
and kids, who he loves extremely. It is the picture perfect family, who are in for a horrific surprise.
Fears: This character like many has standard fears, one being spiders. If Michael Young was to see a spider, he would shriek like a girl
and ask his wife to catch the spider.
