A Random Walk down Communications as a Service Street by Jim Machi, SVP Marketing, Sangoma
The past six months have highlighted the benefits of cloud based business phone systems to businesses. But are employees even taking advantage of all these features in modern communication systems?
Many businesses right now are using a mishmash of different things, some of which overlap with what they might already have. We as an industry still have work to do to explain what is possible in today’s communication systems. Jim will then cross to the other side of the street and explain how MSPs, ITSPs and Telecom Co-ops can offer businesses value-based cloud communication offerings to meet the needs of today’s businesses.
Jim is responsible for strategy, and developing and executing the global marketing plan including digital strategy, partner marketing, content generation, branding and lead generation activities for Sangoma. Prior to Sangoma, Jim spent time at Dialogic and Intel in various roles, including business unit general manager and SVP of product management and marketing. Jim has a BSEE from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in finance from New York University.
This deck is intended to be the corporate overview for new customers/prospects/industry people who need an update about us, etc. It can also be used as an overview for existing customers.
It is split into 2 sections:
Basic Overview of Sangoma
Product Overview – 1 slide each products
As such, it is very likely you’ll need to customize this to your audience ahead of time. It could be presented in it’s entirety, but most likely you’ll take certain slides out of this that you need for a specific audience. Or just cut slides out of this. In other words, customize it for your needs.
There are speaker notes on many of the slides.
First part is the basic corp overview. 10 or so slides. What do we want to get across?
We are stable and growing.
We can help you in this fast paced world. We have the right enterprise products.
We are a serious player in the UC world
We offer the best value.
Digium people will notice not a lot about disruption which was in that corporate deck. Yes, that happened. We are proud of it and it happened and we mention it, but don’t dwell on it.
Updating your ILEC, CLEC or Coop Telecom Network Infrastructure: Due to a variety of factors, you may be thinking about cutting costs, especially on the voice side of the business. Why pay those expensive yearly maintenance fees on that softswitch? Or maybe your high end softswitch solution is getting old and you want to replace it. Or maybe that same softswitch solution is just overpowered for your voice network needs today and you want to rightsize your voice platform. No matter what the reason, a good solution could be looking at an enterprise switch that has been used in carrier environments. Someone who has an on-prem solution that you can put in your datacenter, but also has it’s own cloud solution based on that same technology that you know can handle the traffic load on your network. Sangoma Switchvox is your product.
You also need wholesale SIP trunking so you can resell SIP Trunking to your base. The ability to obtain DIDs, provision those numbers for SMS/MMS, offer fraud protection and manage e911 services is critical to your customer base.
But you also need to connect the network to your subscribers, whether they are a home, a small or medium business, or a small or media enterprise. These subscribers all have different kinds of endpoints, whether they are phones, computers, tablets, etc. Most likely, at this point in time, the subscriber (even a home) will not have a PSTN connection anymore. So the voice network will come into the subscriber through a SIP trunk. If it’s a large business doing a lot of minutes, then wholesale SIP trunking will be the preferred option. Retail SIP trunking will be the option for smaller businesses or the home. Either way, the subscriber will want to buy a connection service that works for them. Sangoma also offers both retail and wholesale SIP Trunking. Our wholesale SIP Trunking solution (SIPDepot) is designed for you to offer retail SIP trunking to your customers. And if you want to resell wholesale SIP Trunking to your larger enterprises if appropriate, you can do that too. And if you want to use our retail SIP trunking, we have SIPStation as well. Whatever SIP Trunking solution makes sense for you, we can discuss that.
Sangoma also offers our own Vega and IMG gateways and SBCs that have been tested to work with Switchvox. The gateways can support up to 2250 SIP sessions and 2016 channels of SS7 signaling and will make connection to other networks as simple as possible.
Sangoma also offers our own phones, headsets and desktop and mobile clients that auto-provision within minutes to and with Switchvox. We offer a range of phones to suit your different subscriber needs. Our desktop and mobile clients enable chat, presence and remote access to your business phone number, and is part of the standard price of Switchvox. No hidden costs here.
