2. Of all the seven social groups to represent, i.e.,
Age, Gender, Sexuality, Regional Identity,
Ability/Disability, Race/Ethnicity and Socio-
Economic Class. We chose to represent Gender
and Age.
3. Male
All the main characters in our film are male which
supports this genre of films stereotype that it is very
male based. This could reflect our target audience which
is also predominantly male. This could be a negative
representation of the male gender as our film shows
them to be careless and dangerous.
4. Female
There are no female characters in the opening sequence
of our film. This could be a negative representation of
the female gender as it implies that females are not
often seen in a film of this kind, however this does
support the stereotype of this genre.
5. Age
In our film we have subverted the stereotype of age,
this is because it is expected that in this genre of film
the characters and actors used are all adults. We did
this to challenge the stereotype of action films.
6. How
We represented this mainly through the use of camera angles, as
even though all the characters are male, some carry more power
than others, to show the balance of power we used high and low
angle shots to represent which characters were more significant.
For example the weak ‘Marcus Finn’ has
high angles to show he is looked down
upon. Where as when the higher power
‘Jason Kable’ is shown with Marcus there
is a low angle to show he is overpowering.
