1. QUESTION 6: WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
2. WHAT IS HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE?
Software is the programs used within a computer or mobile
device. It can often also be the operating system that runs
the device. Some examples of software are:
-Adobe Photoshop CS5
-Adobe InDesign CS3
Hardware is the equipment used to bring all of the elements
of my magazine together, for example a camera is a form of
hardware, this is used to take the photos on my magazine.
Here are some more examples:
DSLR camera
-Lights
-iMac
-SD card
3. SOFTWARE'S
I used Adobe Photoshop CS5 to
construct my magazine front cover
and contents page. I used different
layers to construct my magazine. The
layer tool allowed me to arrange
different graphics images and texts in
order that I wanted.
I also learnt how to cut out an image
from its background and then move it
on to a different background. I used
the magic wand tool to do this and
then I changed the image so that it
was black and white and then refined
the edge which gave me a good finish
without any white bits around the
outside.

4. SOFTWARE’S CONT.
I used Microsoft word to plan and write my
article. I used Word because it allowed me to
lay out my article clearly and also it gave me
the option to grammar and check it so that it
made sense and was as professional and as
close to a real music magazine article.
I used Adobe InDesign CS5 to construct my
final article page. I imported my final
background which I created on Photoshop
onto InDesign and then pasted my text which
I typed up on word onto InDesign as well and
I then arranged all of the text into columns
which made it look like a professional
magazine
5. HARDWARE
I used a Nikon D3100 – Digital SLR camera to take my
photos for my magazine, this gave me a high quality
image to put on my magazine.
This is a Horseshoe Flash Trigger this uses an
infrared signal which is sent to the strobe flash and it
works in sync with the camera shutter
6. HARDWARE CONT.
This is a Hemisphere 300-strobe flash light which works
with the horseshoe trigger and flashes at the same time
lighting up the are of which I'm taking the photo ensuring
that its as bright as possible when I press the button to
take the photo, the brightness of this can be changed by
a small dial which is on the back to give a more softer
light on what I'm taking the photo off.
This is a plain white backdrop which I used for my
Photoshoot, this is good as it is bright and also made it
easier for me to cut out my final image as the
background was completely different color to the actual
person I took the photos off.
7. WHAT I LEARNED FROM USING
THESE DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES
From using all off these different technologies I have been
able to construct a music magazine. As well as this I have
improved my skills on all of the different types of software
and I have also learnt how to use the horseshoe flash trigger
and the strobe lights together effectively and also how to
take a good photo. I also learnt how to focus the camera by
half pressing the button before pressing it all the way down.
