The Beat - Our Mission

3. What would you say is your greatest challenge in
sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ today?
4. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and
on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with
you always, to the end of the age.”
MATTHEW 28:18-20
5. Despite the fall of mankind that brought sin into the
world (Romans 5:12-19), God’s mission remained the
same: to spread His glory throughout the earth. Similarly
to His command in Genesis 1, He told His followers to
multiply themselves – first as images of God’s glory, then
to multiply themselves as disciples of God. They were
now to be God’s instruments in redeeming the fallen
world by teaching people to obey all that God had
commanded.
8. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in
heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore
and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit…”
MATTHEW 28: 18,19
9. Jesus commanded His disciples to make disciples of all
nations. He was once again commanding them to go
throughout the earth, but this time the command was to
make disciples. His mission, to spread His glory
throughout the earth, never changed. How have you
obeyed the Great Commission?
11. “…Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I
have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always,
to the end of the age.”
MATTHEW 28:19,20
12. Our role now, after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is to
obey His command to make disciples, by preaching the
Gospel and extending the message of reconciliation that
Christ offers. We are privileged to be God’s instruments
in redeeming the fallen world by spreading His glory
through the Gospel. How can we live our lives as a
testimony to others?
13. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of
view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do
so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new
creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All
this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through
Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that
God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not
counting people’s sins against them. And he has
committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are
therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were
making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s
behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no
sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the
righteousness of God.
2 CORINTHIANS 5:16-21

15. • How can you better embrace the Great Commission of
God to go and make disciples? Think of one way that
you can make it a part of your lifestyle.
• List three people that you will commit to pray for
throughout the month. Pray for an opportunity to speak
to these people about the love and mercy of God.
• Ask God for a nation that you would like to go to, give
to, or pray for. Consistently pray for God’s provision
and leading concerning this nation throughout the
month and year.
16. Verses to encourage you this week:
• Let your light so shine before men, that they may see
your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
• For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach
the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the
cross of Christ would not be made void. For the word
of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1
Corinthians 1:17-18
• How lovely on the mountains Are the feet of him who
brings good news, Who announces peace And brings
good news of happiness, Who announces salvation,
And says to Zion, "Your God reigns!" Isaiah 52:7
