created in 1998, first

They are practical for on the
go use, and many perform
secondary functions such as

-is a consumer electronics device
that is capable of storing and
playing digital media such as
audio, images, video. The data is
typically stored on a hard drive,
micro drive or flash memory. In
contrast analog portable audio
players play music from cassette
or records.
5. The Global Positioning System (GPS):
- is a space-based Satellite navigation system that provides
location and time information in all weather conditions,
anywhere on or near the earth where there is an
unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites.
The system provides critical capabilities to military , civil and
commercial users around the world.
6. Handheld computers:
-Have small screens and keyboards. • used where
power cannot be relied upon. • Example: PDA. •
Used by people whose job requires them to be
