1. “Winners never quit, quitters never win”. I always hold to that quote in every single thing that I
do. I work so hard in aiming or achieving something. I was born on 4th February 1996 as the only
boy in my siblings. My full name is Nur Irsyad Hakim Bin Mohd Nazim, the fourth child of
Mohd Nazim Bin Othman, a chief clerk at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Belimbing and Izar
Binti Mohd Sham, a clerk at Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Yuk Cheng. I have 5
siblings – 4 sisters and a brother. We live in a peacefully serene village located not far from
Bandar Tanah Merah called Padang Siam.
As the only brother in my siblings, my parents always place a big hope upon me to fulfill
my responsibility as humankind that is to succeed in this world and in the eternal life as well. I
have always been taught to be a kind hearted person, optimistic, responsible, honest and
determined in every good effort I have done in my life as the best example to all my siblings.
When I was child, I saw my first sister graduated as nursing student from International College
of Health Sciences in year 2008. From that precious moment, I could see my parent smile in
enthusiasm, seeing the first child of them had achieved what she had been dreaming and striving
all the years and I promised to myself that I would be like my sister, perhaps better. My family is
not classified as rich, but we lived simply and happily without any lack in life necessity. When
looking deeply into my parents, my feeling always touched by their attitudes and sacrifices in
order to see me succeed in my study.
About my education background, I finished my primary education at Sekolah
Kebangsaan Sri Suria (1), a village school which second place in academy rank between all
primary school in Kelantan with 5 A’s in my Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR). With 5
A’s result I had been selected to enter Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah as my secondary school which
the only Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP) and Sekolah Berprestasi Tinggi (SBT) at Putrajaya. I
started my new journey of life as a boarding school student with learn how to survive and find
new friends as the school is far from my hometown and my family.
Being a boarder for the first time was quite a challenge for me as I had to manage my
time efficiently, be independent and learnt to lead myself and other effectively. Despite the tough
3 years of interdisciplinary study at Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah, I managed to obtain 8 A’s in
Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) with another 117 student at my school. This is a proof I
think that albeit having difficulties in conforming to different cultures and education systems in
2. different schools I have been in, being objective aware and passionate in learning is the key
towards my consistency in academic success. The next year, I continued my study at Sekolah
Sultan Alam Shah as a senior student and learn the new subject that I had never known before
this. I have chosen science stream as my field which the toughest field in Malaysia education
system for upper secondary school. For two years I struggle with my study and I managed to get
A’s in all 9 subject that contain in science stream field and another awards as an excellent
student in my school for the big examination called Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2013. During
my years in Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah, I was very active in sports outdoor and indoor as well.
For the outdoor games I played football and hockey. For indoor games I also played chess and
scrabble. When I was only in form three, I had chosen by Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri to represent
Putrajaya in hockey for state competition and my team got second runner up.
The second year of my upper secondary school, I was given responsibility to be part of
cyber brigade council and had chosen as President for the council. That year was the busiest year
I ever experienced since I needed to balance my time, not just between academics and co-
curriculum, but as president for the council I need to attend the entire event that related to my
beloved school. I put this position as a challenge to me and also as a motivator to change myself
better.
For my career planning, I want to pursue my study in pharmacy in a prestigious
university in Malaysia because I love my country very much and Malaysia was the place I was
born. Furthermore, I want to show to all people in the world that studying in Malaysia also can
make me to be success person in the future and shows that the universities in Malaysia are same
level with universities in other country. I know that I am hoping beyond the skies but I am
certainly sure that it could be made possible if I give my very best for pre-university study and
outshine others in examinations. Therefore, if I was chosen by MARA for doing university
preparation under, I would be a lot happier if it is Foundation In Sciences at Cyberjaya
University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS). Competing with bright students at CUCMS
and learning from them as well, I will surely get enough motivation to hard-push on my study
until I succeed in my Foundation In Sciences and Malaysia University English Test (MUET)
with distinction, hence opening wide my chance to successfully enroll in CUCMS.
3. That is all about me, my education and career planning. I hereby put my hope in Allah,
for I know Allah knows what the best is for me. I will strive with all my strength to fulfill my
dream. Surely, if I were given a chance to get this scholarship, I will it as a responsibility for my
nation, specifically for Malays. I am confidence that with the right intention, enough hard work
and aspiration along with tawakkal to Allah, I will become a successful pharmacist in the world.
