Surendhira Babu joined telecom company Uninor two years ago and still fondly recalls the company's launch date in Tamil Nadu as the day he joined. While there have been challenges like employee layoffs, he has learned from mentors about human resources management. Colleagues describe him as committed, helpful, and providing reassurance with a constant smile. Surendhira enjoys Uninor's open work culture and feels it is like an extended family. The first thing that strikes you about Surendhira Babu. I is his electrifying smile that has never seemed
to fade from the first day he joined Uninor. Surendhira joined Uninor two years back and he still recalls
that day fondly saying I can t forget my date of joining in Uninor because 19th Sep 2009 was when
Uninor s launch in Tamilnadu and seemed like the celebration started on day I joined! I am proud to
say that I am here since the launch.
As time went by, there were a lot of challenges that Surendhira faced at Uninor ; he recalls saying,
Due to some organization structural changes, there was a huge number of employee layoffs in
November 2010. This was a heart paining day in my Uninor journey.
I learn many things about HR process from both my bosses, Suresh J and Lakshmi Priya about
business partnering. Both have been great mentors and taught me a lot in HR management, that s
helped me make a difference in the TN circle team.
Surendhira has been a perfect example of living the values . An individual committed to his job,
taking any additional responsibility with a smile and providing a sense of reassurance to every
employee that he is there to help. Inspiring everyone by stretching beyond the expected, always being
respectful, helping people to make and understand things easily , says the CBH, Shivkumar Mudaliar.
What Surendhira likes the best about Uninor is the open work culture that makes it easy to sort out
any kind of issues in a much shorter span of time through an open discussion. He says The unity
among the employees is very high here and delegation of work between the supervisors and
subordinates is well coordinated. It s like an extended family for me.

2. Apart from work, Surendhira is interested in social works, watching TV, surfing the net and hanging out
with his friends on the weekends and holidays. Surendhira also happens to be a great cook too and
experiments with various cuisines every day.
Surendhira is the absolute backbone of HR. You can lean on him for anything, be it handling data,
answering employee queries, arranging interviews, clarifying processes, or just lending a sympathetic
ear to his friends concerns. The best part about Surendhira is that he does all of this and more with his
permanent trademark smile always in place. You will never see him flustered, irritated or bored. He
