Do not start by googling the topic on the internet. Kills the originality.
Start by planning analog. Note down the important points you are including, divide into segments and then work segment by segment.
Presentation is nothing but story telling and the best way to tell story is through graphics/visuals.
We remember the things that we see better than that we hear or read. Hence if you want your message to stick use visuals.

A good slide is natural and is purposeful. It is no necessary to fill it up completely, white space is okay.
