What is PASOLA? • Pasola means wooden spears • A continuation of people of western Sumba’s tradition towards the rice planting season • Rice planting seasons normally take between February and March when the full moon exists • But full moon is not the only sign • Nyale-another tradition event prior Pasole-is the key to the process
